      No there is a lot of expatriates in Nigeria and in Africa in general because people are sent by their companies which is totally different from being a migrant . For example I have a Moroccan friend who is expatriate in France . Expatriates are usually staying between 3 and 5 years then move back and maybe going somewhere else . My parents were expatriate all their life in many countries but nowadays people are using the term expatriates without knowing what it is and just because they do not want to be called migrants. Also entrepreneurs are not expatriates they are migrants who setup a business somewhere but they also call themselves expatriates . I always like to correct people on this aspect because it annoys them . 😂

    • @zilindogomes1767
      @zilindogomes1767 Před 3 lety +1

      @@kingk2405 Dont fall for that mate. There are countless new definitions for expatriate nowadays but none of them is in the dictionary. Until the financial crisis from 2006 to 2012 expatriate=migrant. After that, when europeans started moving abroad outside the west looking for jobs in Africa, South America and Asia, they started calling themselves expatriates and not migrants. They didnt want to be associated with the word migrants. They are very good at these tricks. Lets not make them more than they are. Migrants, like the countless of african people who do the same thing.

    • @kingk2405
      @kingk2405 Před 3 lety

      Zilindo Gomes But an expatriate is sent by his company or by his department (education for the teachers or foreign affairs for the diplomats ). Also the expatriates have a package including an indexed salary and other perks like a rent allowance , car , school fees etc ...( Mercer is for example a consultant who every year is updating the cost of living for each country used by the HR department of big companies to readjust their expatriation packages ) . If tomorrow you decide by yourself to invest X millions in a country and setup a business you still be a migrant not an expatriate but the one you are going to talk to at your embassy will be an expatriate . My parents were expatriates all their lives but myself only once and twice migrant .

    • @LinusAkali
      @LinusAkali Před 6 lety +1

      Oyaator Bhoy This video is not your post or am I mistaken. You have never been outside the shores of Africa with the way you talk. I talk from personal experience and with the experiences of those who come to me. So you can't be an arbiter to my own experience and you can't tell me when or how to express it. Seeing the video I compared it with the experience of the African people here and you are insulting me for that? And also claiming you are right to insult people with foul languages just because you don't like their opinions? Congrats to you

    • @uknowamsaying
      @uknowamsaying Před 6 lety

      Again, 3 brain farts rolled up into one post. Reading the post, from one sentence to the next, I cannot find any evidence of reasoning before the point is vomitted.
      Now let me show you your brain farts one by one:
      1) This video is not your post: What stupidity! So a video has to be mine before I critique comments on it? I even have to own the newspaper or TV before I challenge people's comments on a politician or an issue?
      Can you see how moronically you reason. Here is a lesson: If ou don't want your opinion critiqued, fucking keep it to yourself and don't put it on a public platform. It is not rocket science. It is as simple as A-B-C.
      Abi is it A-B-D you learnt?
      2) You have never been outside the shores of Africa: JISOS! So you came to that conclusion based on what? Opinions from your ass?
      I suggest you use the "sort by" functionality to find out where I live.
      3) I talk from personal experience and experience of those who come to me: What foolishness! Your personal, anecdotal experience is gospel? Your personal experience cannot be bias, especially with majority of you blacks having this retarded and sick victim mentality?
      If you had sense, you would provide your personal experience and then prove it is the prevalent and dominant experience.
      Some of us have been to many predominantly-white countries and we have no issues. We have been treated right and fairly without any particular complaints. But admittedly that might be attributed to our mannerisms, demeanor, qualifications, reasoning, behaviours, eloquence and legal entry into those countries (if you arrive by plane, you get more respect than if you come in illegally by trekking, under a truck or in a dinghy). If you don't have all those attributions I listed to you, don't be surprised you are treated differently. We might be living in different worlds, so your and your cohorts' experiences might not be representative despite the conviction in your head.
      So can you see now how stupid virtually all your comments are?
      As I advised you earlier: "It is better to be quiet and be thought a fool, than speak and remove all doubt".
      If you use your brain before commenting again, I promise you (with the blood of Jesus) that I shall not use foul, and even agric chicken, language.

      The word is "oyibo", it means person with a pale skin,hence fairskined Nigeirans are also called oyibo (don't let that surprise you).
      My American chemistry teacher dragged a boy to the principal for calling her oyibo,they had to explain to her that it's not a derogatory word. I was so stunned I asked my dad who had been a doctor in a hospital in London, he just laughed and said "did you say your teacher was American?", I said yes and he said "no,surprise there,in her country they have a derogatory word (nigg*r) for black people,she thinks yo are doing the same thing to her".

They look down on our certificates and only give us the worst jobs you can ever imagine, the kind of jobs their citizens do not like. When you migrate to Europe, Canada or the USA nobody will employ you based on your degree certificates from Nigeria. It seems that most Nigerian men love and seek out light-skinned women, which I'm sure is why the woman in the video has bleached her skin...1 in 3 Nigerian women bleach their skin, even though it places them at a higher risk of developing skin cancer. Many of them say "they don't care and will take their chances." It saddening to see a continent so rich with natural resources and original people be so full of fake and self-hating people.

    I think that it is very important to remember that not all white or Asian people are racist. It's so important to remember this otherwise you can drive yourselves crazy about this issue. There are good people and bad people on this planet black and white . The white people who are not racist, who hate racism, who stand and protest against it together with our black brothers and sisters are brave and I thank them. Not all are racist. If they want to live in Nigeria for whatever the reason good for them, let them indulge in our culture and stand by our side, expat or immigrants if they are happy in our country ok then show them how we are, friendly and welcoming, we are strong, black beautiful people and they know it and that's why they are there, that's why they love our country and our people. They see the business potential as well I suppose but still it's ok.
    As for the Presenter, absolutely no disrespect I think she is beautiful, however my personal opinion it would have been nice to see her in some beautiful Nigerian outfit and hairdo, but that's just my opinion I'm not trying to insult or anything. Maybe some black expat shown would have been nice to. But all the comments please, remember GOD is watching. Have a blessed day. X

    I see some people here are confusing the terms 'expatriate (expat) and expert.
    Expatriate (noun)= A person who is voluntarily absent from home or country.
    To expatriate (verb)= Move away from one's native country and adopt a new residence abroad.
    Expatriate (adj)= Of, or relating to people living outside their native country.
    Being an expatriate does not mean one is an expert. It simply means one has taken residence in another country.
    With that said, let's show some love to the foreigners living and working in our country. It's completely ludicrous and downright childish to call them names. Some of you really need to grow up.

    Very nice not all these broke ones from some shitty countries coming to Nigeria expecting a good life. Some end up staying in the slums cos they ain't got shit and cos of that assume the whole Nigeria is crap from their little experience. Life in Nigeria can be good for you depends on your planning, pocket and your attitude(open mindedness)

    The word expatriate does not mean difference from immigrants or illegal alien and if you doubt it check out dictionary. Expatriate do not means they are expect in any thing but only what pisses off is that those people happen to visit their country and they see you they will treat you the same way their people do , is in their blood not to talk of the name calling behind us. They not good to just leave them like that without putting them on check.
