In the cockpit of the Atlantic Airways Airbus A319 for a flight from the Faroe Islands to Reykjavik Iceland. For the 4h30min film go to www.worldairrou...
That's why flying is %20 of pilot's eyes and %80 navigation system! imagine what will happen if some irresponsible passengers decided not to follow flight safety instructions by switching off cellphones and wireless devices!
No this is right in the city. The international airport for Iceland is Keflavik,(KEF) about 25 miles east of the city. KEF has two very long runways and can handle anything that flies. It was once an airbase dating from at least WW II days, used to ferry flights to Europe. Later it was used by the US as well as the airlines. Icelandair and WOW usually use KEF. There are some domestic flights from Reykjavik City Airport. A few smaller jets such as the Faroes flight in the video will go to Reykjavik City. Boeing and Airbus often use KEF to test the crosswind handling of new aircraft.
Yup....I've been to both places. Icelandair did land a 757 at Reykjavik when the Icelandic handball team got a silver medal in the Olympic once. They had a big celebration because a medal for tiny Iceland is a big deal. But they had minimal weight for take off and landing. There is a CZcams of the event.
Beautifully done. Over the threshold at slightly less than 50 feet no doubt owing to relatively short runway. Lovely smooth touchdown. If there is fog I wonder how those residents feel as they try to sleep with aircraft passing less than 200 feet overhead!
Icelandair does land the 757"s on occasion at the domestic city airport if the winds get too high to land at Keflavik. They are not set up real well for the 757 "s or for customs checks so it is only done in rare case or an emergency.
It took me awhile to figure out where the runway was.

@@mitchray As with your average solar storm, nothing would happen...
Now that's the man with the smooth touch and a soft landing.
Now that's an amazing landing and view! Iceland is spectacular!
Makes for a great video but there's no way I'd live that close to a final approach or departure.
There aren't really any flights to Reykjavik airport anyway..
Yeah, it's only ~150 flights a day....
KEF is a gorgeous airport! I wonder if this is the same view pilots of WOW and Icelandair experience :)

So the airport in the video was the city airport, not KEF? Okay thanks :)

The runway is on an upwards slope, which makes stopping quickly a bit easier.
Great video !
Amazing! It's a very interesting approach!
perfect and graceful.
What an amazing view!!
Nice landing!
Great video. Satisfied my longing to fly to Iceland saving a tonne of CO2 pollution
good landing :)
very smooth!
Iceland is my life dream I hope god one day my plain land like that in Iceland 😭🤧❤️
Good landing, I liked the beautiful order of houses at 1:24, sure Iceland is beautiful, is there anyone to invite me 😏.
I hear they cut the engine throtle before flight over the houses, could be possible to minimize the engine sound?
that's a perfect landing
Awesome!
Do they clap for landings in Iceland
muito bom
cool
Why aren't they using Keflavik airport?...isn't it much safer?🤔
Why was 'minimums' called so early?
Used all available runway!!
RIP brake...😂😂
Feather touch landing
Looks like the city beach is empty ;)
Another day of me spelling Reykjiavic wrong
Rip
Was not short
3000 Meters Runway.... Not short
Not sure where you get 3000 meters but thats completely wrong...
They have 3 runways... 960 meters, 1230 meters and 1567 meters
1:55 Not a very politically correct airplane
yea i've seen a few of these videos and the big planes all seem very rude and attitudey
