“Take Off” and “Turn Back Time” have always been my favorite WayV songs, so I’m glad you liked them. I keep forgetting how, uh, “special” “Love Talk” is; suddenly I’ll listen to it and go “oh, yeah.” I also like “Kick Back.” Next is NCT Dream. I think you’ll enjoy watching them grow over time from fresh-faced kids to fine(and I do mean fine 😉) young men.

WayV is my favorite sub unit. Their music is fantastic and yes, they are hot 😆 I can't wait to see you react to more of the NCT sub units because not only is NCT as a whole great dancers but they have some incredible vocalists.

Technically WayV debuted in January 2019 with the Mandarin version of "Regular," which was also NCT-127's song. But "Take Off," which came out in April 2019, is considered their official debut song because it was their first release that was all theirs.
As you may know, there are 7 members in WayV. Ten and Lucas are also originally members of NCT-U and SuperM; Winwin is also an original member of NCT-U and NCT-127; Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Yanyang, Xiaojun and Hendrey debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed.
Because WayV (which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- hence the line "the face of Vision" in the lyrics of "Turn Back Time") is part of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams.
Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storyline. You just have to come to accept that everything you see from SM will be connected to SM's Culture Universe, and it's all part of a giant drama or movie -- it's just another chapter in the story.
Since the creation of SuperM, where they are now taking members from each of SM's most popular groups and creating an Avengers supergroup, I think that was SM's first indication that from now on we need to pay attention, because all of its groups' MVs are somehow connected.
One thing that I find interesting about WayV's "Take Off" MV, is that if you watch "Take Off" with an eye for looking for connections and theories, an argument could be made that the storyline in "Take Off" may have been designed to connect WayV -- and more specifically, Ten and Lucas -- to "SuperM's storyline. "Take Off" came out even before we knew that SM was even considering creating SuperM. But with all that I know about how SM spends years working on creating stories and connecting storylines between MVs and between its groups, it wouldn't surprise me if SM may have been planning ways to draw connections between WayV and SuperM even when the concept for "Take Off" was created. If you notice, there are several "superhero-like" elements in the "Take Off" MV that are similar to SuperM's and EXO's storyline and they could potentially be connected.
Not only, because "Take Off" was WayV's debut song, do the lyrics talk about being ready to take off, as in they are ready to be launched onto the scene and become superstars. But I think it is also supposed to be interpreted like they are ready to launch into orbit and join in the fight to help EXO battle the Red Force.
For instance, we see Xiaojun suspended in the air with wings a lot like Lucas in WayV's "Turn Back Time" MV and SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV. And we also see a lot of WayV's storyline has an otherworldly, futuristic and digital theme, which could now be connected to aespa's storyline. aespa is NCT's sister group, so that usually means there are similarities between the groups and, when it comes to SM, it also means that their storylines are probably connected.
I also think the drones you see in "Take Off" are connected to the drones we see in a lot of SM's other group MVs, such as SuperM's "Jopping" and "One (Monster & Infinity)" MVs and EXO Kai's solo debut "Mmmh" MV and his "Film: Kai" teaser video, etc. It's all part of SM's SM Culture Universe storyline.
"Take Off" is also another part of NCT's dream concept, so what you are seeing in the MV could also be interpreted as different things to do with dreams and dreaming. Real things like the dream of wealth, the dream of fame, the dream of the perfect body (LOL), as well as things that only happen when you are literally dreaming, such as the wings and Ten's glowing eyes, etc.
I even see parts of the story in "Turn Back Time" that could be connected to SuperM's MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)." When Lucas is suspended in the air in the MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)," I see similarities to the fact that he is supposed to be a fallen angel in "Turn Back TIme" who is also floating in the air. Lucas doesn't have a shirt on because he has just had his wings ripped off or removed, so he is shirtless because he is recovering from whatever happened to him. You see the scars on Lucas' back because his wings have been torn off.
I also wonder if WayV actually has the power to turn back time, similar to Tao's superpower in EXO -- will it be their job to help fix the problems in EXO's and SuperM's storyline by turning back time? ("5, 4, 3, 2,1" -- they are counting down and turning back time. The end move in the choreography was designed to show time had abruptly been stopped and the momentum of their movements caused their body to tremble like that, etc.)
And, if you notice, Ten and Lucas have a pivotal role in the storyline in "Turn Back Time." I think this might be because they are members of SuperM and they are coming to gather the other WayV members to bring them into the fight. Maybe in "Turn Back Time" the WayV members are cut up and injured because they have been involved in the battle as they help SuperM take down the Red Force.
I also think in WayV's "Love Talk" MV you are supposed to interpret it as if you are inside a dream. I see the cube that is floating in the air as part of SM's labyrinth concept where, like EXO, they might be trapped inside a maze. Which, if the maze is part of the Red Forces' plot, could be why they are in a foggy dream state. In EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force has trapped EXO in a maze and the maze dulls EXO's sense and makes it so they are unable to fight back. We often see the EXO members in a sleepy dazed state because they are under the Red Forces' control. And now with the release of aespa's recent "aespa ep. 2 'Next Level' -- SM Culture Universe" video, it looks like that same floating labyrinth cube that we see in "Love Talk" is what blocks aespa's way as they travel through Kwangya.
On that note, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third and fourth generation groups' MVs and storylines are being designed to connect stories and plots. It's all part of SM's Universe. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connection between the groups. And that includes EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee's storyline.

The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other NCT sub-units is because at the time of their debut there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China.
So in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's.) The company WayV is under is called Label V which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turns a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China.
As you can see, not only do the WayV members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but Ten is from Thailand so he speaks Thai; Lucas is from Hong Kong so he speaks Cantonese and a little Thai because his mom is Thai; Hendery also speaks Cantonese because he is from Macau China; and Yangyang is Taiwanese, but he grew up in Germany so he also speaks German. WayV is a very international group that speaks many languages.
So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk," or their new song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean version of a few of their songs) LOL
What you heard was the all English version of "Love Talk", but if you listen to the album you will see there is a Mandarin version of the song, as well. SM just chose to only make an MV for the English version.
If you enjoy WayV's dancing, you really need to see their dance practice videos for "Take Off," and "Turn Back Time." You should consider pairing your reactions to their MVs with a reaction to the dance practice that goes with the song, because almost everything any of the groups within NCT does will have a dance practice video to go with it. NCT is known for their dancing and their impressive choreography.
Plus, if you want to see how these MVs were made just look up their behind the scenes footage, SM pretty much documents everything NCT does.
