Thanks. Im so glad to see someone use an actual pot! And its similar to my set up. I just bite the bullet and use coffee crystals. I use a mug like you. O made an insulator for it out of closed cell foam. I made a foam lid and covered it with foil just to keep the foam clean from the liquid. The mug nestles perfectly with my nalgene bottle. I usually cook in my pot. The pouch meals just cost too much. I still dont get the wide spread insistance of canister stoves, though.
We have the same MSR coffee filter. We threw away the lid for it. We never used it. We made a bubble-foil cozy for our pot which works great. Thanks for the info.
Very nice cook kit for 2 people. I think most backpackers have a “go to” cook it and probably a few other cook kits that didn’t quite meet their needs that are backups or for guests that they take out on the trail. Thanks for displaying your cook kit. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
Hello Amanda, I really appreciate your informative videos. You are certainly well organized. All the best to you Dear. Take care, be safe and stay healthy. 🤗
Hi Amanda, thank you for making these helpful backpacking/camping videos! Love watching them. I was wondering if you could make a video talking about how you and Nick pack collectively for a trip (things you both pack, who carries the tent and cook ware, etc.). I'm typically camping with my partner and I would love to get some insight on packing strategically for two.
Great video, as always!! Always picking some ideas from your videos. Will check if you have a pancake video. Btw for the pan handle, just slip two fingers in and expand the handle slightly to fold it if you want to avoid the brute force method ;)
Hi Amanda, I just discovered your channel and now I've been bingeing your videos! We just bought a travel trailer, so your tips about traveling light and only packing the essentials are super helpful. I haven't been camping in 20 years or so, but we'll be doing our first trip in our trailer next week, super exciting! We have a 2 year old daughter, so pray for us! Lol 😆
Thanks Amanda. Your set up is great for a short hike and camp. Too much weight. I do like the coffee idea (tired of instant coffee). Jet boil with single pot works great for longer hikes.
I live in Colorado and my wife is trying to get into backpacking. I was hoping that you would know of some beginner trails either here in Colorado or in Utah where you’re at? I mean I’m talking really easy. Thanks. Keep up the awesome videos can’t wait to see more!
Thanks for sharing. I use an old MSR pocket rocket and a MSR pot to boil water. I'm looking for a frying pan to take along on packing fishing trips. Keep making the great videos.
Really helpful tips! My husband and I just got done with a camping trip too and will definitely be taking your tips and recommendation into consideration. JW but are you using your go pro when shooting your sit down videos? The quality is great!
Glad it was helpful! Yes this video was filmed on the GoPro! Some of my other sit down videos are filmed with my Sony camera, but I find that I use the GoPro the most (especially when backpacking) because it's so easy and it has great stabilization. I did a little noise reduction in the audio during editing, but that's about it!
Hi Amanda, believe it or not, I am actually trying to figure out where I can purchase the little clear and blue container you use for the ground coffee storage. I have been watching some of your videos and am not seeing it in the descriptions and I cant seem to get the right search terminology to get it to come up in google or amazon. Any suggestions and where I can purchase something similar?
i made my hubby watch this with me and we both were like “wow” when you showed a glimpse of the water behind you. quick question: do you use propane or other types of fuel?
The canister I showed in this video is a blend of isobutane and propane. Those are the canisters I use for backpacking and they come in a few different sizes. When I'm car camping, I have a re-fillable propane tank.
Car camping definately go with a 5 lb camping propane tank or the 1lb Flame King refillable propane tanks. The isobutane tanks are very expensive at $6 each and only hold 8oz of fuel. You also have a ton of waste. The flame king refillable 1lb tanks use a total of 50 or 75 cents of fuel.
I've been using the GSI Pinnacle Soloist for four years now. Review here: czcams.com/video/VueoAm-4OzI/video.html . I find it is a good balance between light, versatile, small packing footprint and super functional.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed this one! Chat with me in the comments if you have any questions! 💚

I would love to see how you store all your gear at home.

Totally! My friends or family that we take backpacking usually borrow my Jetboil now, so it still gets some use!

Dont apologize for using gear that works for you. There is always something worse and something better ... being content is wonderful.
Keep up the awesome work
Coffee is a must! Love the Aeropress for backcountry coffee :D
Not a question but a comment thanks for having a skillet nothing like pancakes at 12,000 ft!
haha yes!!

That's a great idea! I've added it to my list! Thank you so much for watching!
In your intro, I almost expected you to put on safety glasses and say “and remember...Safety is the number one priority”.
Any tips to for quicker/minimal cleanup after cooking? Really enjoy your channel and content. 👌
You guys rock. We have lots of similar gear. If you guys ever want to take a vacation to japan, we will take y’all to some beautiful places to camp.
Your videos are a great resource for kayak camping. Love your channel!
Love all the information!

That sounds awesome!! Some of my best memories as a kid are from when my family went camping. I hope you have the best trip! Welcome to the channel! 🤗

The MSR Mugmate does make a good strong cup of coffee! Thanks for watching!

thanks for sharing this, I am new to backpacking so I was looking for something similar as for the setup
Glad it was helpful! 😁

I'm trying to get better at fishing, so maybe one day I'll use my frying pan for something other than pancakes 😂 Thanks for watching!
Lol and some butter for your fish!
Awesome.
Hi Amanda, I just found your channel and I love it! I just subscribed.
Welcome!!

I am I the only one that can’t stop looking at her 🔥legs?? I’m a girl and feel super creepy posting this but dang!
I can’t imagine rolling with two pans lol. I almost went the cold soak route, but I’m human and need warm food haha
haha yea I definitely like a hot meal after a long day of backpacking!

amandaoutside thank you. we’re trying to figure out an eco friendly way to grill when boat camping. it’s tough
Car camping definately go with a 5 lb camping propane tank or the 1lb Flame King refillable propane tanks.

Hi Where can I get that fuel? Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Do you cook for yourself or for nick also. I always bring to much
Nick and I each carry our own food, but we'll usually just boil water for our meals at the same time since the pot is large enough.
Any other headphone users spaz out when you heard that fly sound in your ear?

Great pair of legs
