Best Cup Car Ever? RaceRoom Porsche 964 Carrera Cup Car

- Today I'm previewing the soon to be released Porsche 964 Carrera Cup car for RaceRoom.
Porsche introduced the Carrera Cup as a national series in Germany in the late 80s and since then it's spawned numerous regional offshoots across Europe, Asia and South America as well as the international Supercup. The Porsche 964 Carrera Cup car is an iconic vehicle form the early days of the series and I, for one am very happy that it's been brought to RaceRoom.
Beyond the Porsche 964 Carrera Cup Car's historical significance, this is a really well executed car, that's engaging to drive and is almost guaranteed to produce fantastic racing. And, really, that's why we're all here. I'm especially happy to see this car come to RaceRoom, because it's a racing sim that really excels with this type of car and, crucially for me it has by far the best selection of appropriate tracks for cup racing.

Thanks Anthony - there are a few 70s and 80s 911's in sim racing, but it's nice to have a slightly more modern version that still hold true to the classic formula. Decent brakes are a real win!

@@Joseph-ro3el try it it's free and for 10 euro or dollars you got a base content . you really need to try the base content . RR is to me the best sim for fwd cars and cars out of the 90' . DTM 92 is such a jem
Can't wait for this mod! Looks like a ton of fun. For people who don't know what you meant about the handling, the birds eye cam at the end shows a good example of how the rear slides out on turns due to the weight. Once you get used to driving the old Porsche's they're always very satisfying and rewarding feeling.
Completely agree man - it's a very predictable car, especially on the limit. But, you just have to make sure you're decisive with your control inputs. :)
Another great video Chris. I can't wait to get my hands on these. Can I be so bold as to make a suggestion for future videos? A little bit more raw game sound..., I really want to hear these at full chat.... Looking forward to the group C preview!

I must admit, when I was driving these, I kept going back and forth between which content I thought was the best. The Group C cars are pretty mad to drive - but the Porsche is really rewarding and produces better racing.

I believe that some of the 959 technology went into the 964.
IIRC the 4 wheel drive system in the Carrera 4 models was a direct descendent of that which was developed for the 959.

Agree, it's never too late and that's the last build for a while, so worth doing I think. There's quite a bit of debate in the community about the FFB in ACC now. Gamer Muscle for example has gone back and forth on it, as have I. Would love to hear where you stand now as I really respect your views..
964 was first Porsche porpusly built for Racing that could be bought. I have talk to a lot of Porsche owners at shows. But one guy I talked to said 964 was his favorite for track. 996 was his super road Car. I know not many like 996, but this Turbo was Probably One Of the best 911 Turbos built.
Great video Chris. Group C. That’s all I want...Well...I’d like Le Mans with a few different layouts to race them at too. Maybe the last few years without chicanes and first few years with.

Thanks Jonas - just use a joystick and the free roam camera. All sims are a bit different when it comes to that sort of thing, but most will work with a joystick and a bit of patience ;)

This is one of the most interesting car to come to Raceroom! Especially since no other sim had a mod of the 964 Cup. 911 Carrera Cup has a special place for me, my first ever sim racing experience was to drive a 997 GT3 Cup.

Hi Chris, remember riding shotgun next to a very sideways Nick Whale in one of these at Donington; not at any point did 260bhp feel inadequate, very exciting machine.... an auto purchase for me, can't wait..... But mores the point what's this i hear about Group C and RR?!

2:54 okay what's your secret settings for head movement? It looks spot on!
Obviously it depends a bit on your FOV, but my settings are:
Head Movement: 35%
Look to Apex: 30%
Pitch Lag: 10%
Roll Lag: 10%

let's hope RACEROOM get the love on line now . such a good racesim sound is awesome AI one off the best there is . maybe they should make a career mode in the game . i guess this is wishfull thinking they got not the budget to make one . still i support RACEROOM i bought my content not the cheap way just because i love this game . they deserve it . i spend almost 250 euro on content now i got every track or car and bought allready some VRP to get this girl can't wait
Hey Jurgen - completely agree. RaceRoom has slowly grown on me over the last couple of years, to the point now where it's one of my favourite sims. The guys at Sector 3 are really nailing it at the moment :)

Off the top of my head, I don't believe so.
The only server running this car are private every time I check. I'm sort of getting sick of R3E servers with multi class races.

Sexy camera work there. R3E is looking quite convincing these days. When I tried the free cars I thought they were terrible. Uninstalled. You are starting to turn me.
Heh, thanks man! Yeah, R3E has come a long way over the last 12 months or so. They're doing some great work.
Is 1:20 intentional?
Yes and no. The digital glitch transition was intentional, but the weird green smearing seems to be an artefact added by CZcams. Ah well!
Will it be free?
I have a problem with raceroom and maybe someone here can help me. I use a Logitech g25 wheel, but when i play 3R the wheel doesn't have any force feedback. Can anyone help me with this issue?
By the way, great video! I love oldschool porsches
Not sure Carlos, there is a default profile in R3E for the G25 - strange that it doesn't work for you. Maybe best to ask over on the Sector 3 forums.
