Awesome video and comparison. You can really hear the difference. You're reving the stock bike much higher to get the same performance. That 270 sounds great, I would definitely make that upgrade now that I've seen what it does. It's also a lot of fun watching you kill it on the track, you really know that track well and it shows. Keep up the great work man!
thanks brother glad you like the comparison!
those are smart upgrades to pair, the big bore gives a lot more low end power while the stage 2 hot cams are designed specifically to build top end. in theory you’re gaining power on both spectrums
I would like to see you test it single track right woods.
here you go Doug czcams.com/video/3vi63tVJHe0/video.html
Did you look into getting the ECU remapped for more fuel and timing or using a vortex?
Also, did you try taller gearing?
Looks so fun and enjoyable with a good friend to test these bikes. If you’re using gopro , If possible try switch the position of the gorpro to the side ( just over the ear point ) .. it might be better in view .
thanks for the tip, I had it there before
I would have never believed actually hearing and seeing on upload the difference in the engine. I'll be that is gonna sell a lot of kits for that Yam. If you keep working on it you're gonna make an old geezer like me believe in 4-strokes. LOL!
I think you got to retype that I got nothing you said
@@Jack-jd6tj Either I'm senile or you need to learn to read.......I'd say it's 50/50. Maybe it was because I was typing with my toes. Have a good day.
Easy to understand.
@@tomnekuda3818 yea the toe typing need improvement, you lost me at the (I’ll be that is gonna sell a lot of kits for that yam) part though
@@Jack-jd6tj See it....the word is "bet" or something close to that. Bike sure sounds sweet with that kit, tho, don't it? I liked the big two-strokes but too damn old to handle 'em anymore. Guess that's the way of things. What don't hurt; don't work. Hang in there, Miller. P.S. Throttle is on the right.....
Question is, can the bottom end hold up and be just as reliable as the stock set up?
was thinking about this kit for my YZ250 for some track work. Sounds like it might just be what the doctor ordered for my decidedly "outside the typical 250F parameters" body haha
it is definitely very noticeable upgrade.
I'm finding it really difficult to find a big bore kit online. is it just hard to come by or is it not on sites like rmatvmc?
these guys make them, give them a call www.allballsracinggroup.com
Great video stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
Thanks, will do!
Awesome vid! Great format showing both bikes. But, not 2smokes. But, ok.
Fair enough! ;)
How would the stock 250 go with hot cams? Wonder how much of a difference that would make
I think you would feel better mid range for sure
Nice vid as always Rado ,when u fit the big bore kit do u rebalance the rotating assembly or is the size increase negligible,( to the vibration in the motor)cheers👍D
you dont need to rebalance anything, its plug and play - feels the same vibration wise
@@dirtniron ,thanks Rado ,when are you going to put a 300 big bore into the yz 250 and a Stic module ,you know you want to lol 👍D
I will keep yz stock size but stic metering block sounds interesting 🤔
The bikes are 2 totally different animals.
The 270 is noticiable gruntier.
Cheers.
thanks man, glad you see the power gains
The big bore 250 either two or four stroke would be very useful for a vet rider/racer. It'll hang with the 450fs and keep the 250s back.
sounds good, thanks for sharing!
Until that 450 gets enough straight it's over with
So just caught this video..i had a 15 fx250f and loved it..im looking for another im 52 62 260lbs..i think this set up will be my go to..just curious ive seen u on 250fs are u bigger guy yourself..
I am 5'11 200lbs.. slightly bigger 250f guy ;) this setup makes a lot of sense for me now, really like the power
Awesome. Do a YZ250X with a 300 kit next.
glad you like it, lets see about that..
how would this 270 compare to a ktm 350
I’m tossing around idea of a woods/ trail dedicated bike, with a whiff of hare scramble / enduro. Would you recommend 250FX for that over a WR250F?
I think it would make more sense to get 250fx
Are there any cons to doing a 270 bore. Will it have any cons as far as more maintenance or more wear and tear, shorten the bikes life?
I think 270 put little more wear on the engine, so I would stay on the top of it
Do you think that without the big bore and hot cams upgrade the bike would still be very powerful on the track and on the trail?
yes, its fast stock as well, check my previous videos
What age should you start riding a 250 4 stroke?
Depends how much seat time you have.
teen is ok if you are good .. depends
Is there a description somewhere on what the Hot Cams stage 1 or 2 will accomplish versus the stock cams as far as more low grunt or more high revs? I've searched but can't find anything except actual specs
yes, I am sure there is some stuff online. do some research on the forums too, thumper talk will have a lot of good info. Stage 2 is better specially in mid and top, doesnt affect the bottom that much. I had it in 2-3 bikes now and its really noticeable in mid range
here is some info from MXA:
Stage 1. In stock trim, the 2013 KX450F already has good power delivery. The Hot Cams’ Stage 1 cams made the powerband more rider-friendly (largely because the Stage 1 cams had 0.64mm less lift on the intake and exhaust valves). Throttle response was improved, which allowed the MXA test riders to power out of corners with little or no drama. There was an increase in power from the bottom to midrange. The Stage 1 cams would best suit a Novice or Vet rider who is looking for a more usable powerband out of the potent KX450F.
Stage 2. Hot Cams’ Stage 2 cams delivered a big bang (largely because the Stage 2 cams had 0.13mm more lift on the intake valves and 1.78mm more on the exhaust valves). The MXA test riders were shocked by the difference these cams made. The Stage 2 cams delivered improved throttle response with a huge hit in the midrange. The power ramped up fast, and because it went through the powerband faster, it felt like it revved less-but that wasn’t true. The Stage 2 cam makes a significant difference, which you will feel instantly. If you want a faster KX450F, this is the cam for you.
Did you have to remap the ecu or use a vortex?
no, it was stock ECU
Let's see the yz250 x!
I should have it soon
When you do the big bore and cams do you need to get the bike tuned? I have a 2016 yz250f all stock with a vertex tuner. If i did a big bore would i need to get the ecu reflashed or would i be fine on vertex’s preset “race engine tune”?
this 250fx did fine with the map I had on it before.. some bikes need to be tuned tho. Vortex gives you an ability to tune it
This was on the stock maps with pump gas?
Where can I find a set of the hotcams? Been looking all over the internet and kind find them
try hotcams website or rmatvmc
The stock sounds better tho😮😂
Is the ignition stock or is it a vortex
stock
Did you remap the ecu? Or didn’t change anything on map? Thanks
You can definitely tell the 270cc is more relaxed the rmps are much less compared to the 250cc
Definitely!
Awesum bike
it sure is!
The engine seems to working less hard with the modified components
yea, more bottom power and can run lower rpm
How aggressive of a map on stock.
Seems stock yz revs harder.
same map on both - I revved it more on 250
👍🏼
I would just buy a YZ250 or 250X 2 stroke. Simpler cheaper more reliable and more fun
I got one ;)
Cool
Hello whtsap guys
all good here!
