    Some really fun boards in there! Puddle Jumper HP is always a win for us in small conditions

    Great episode! I live on the East Coast of Florida, about 10 minutes South of Cocoa Beach.
    Waves are usually small & mushy during the summer months here.
    So small weak waves are frequent.
    I’m 5’6 & weigh 175 or 79 kg’s…
    I’ve got a 5’2 Twin Fin mini-Simmons I ride the Noel Salas HP Keels in it & it’s super fun!
    Have a 5’3 Firewire Baked Potato, that I ride medium AMll’s in it.
    But my 2 go to board’s are, my 5’5 Firewire Chumlee & I ride the MR 2+1’s in 99% of the time & it goes mental! Also have a 5’5 Firewire Seaside, I ride AMll mediums & large AM AirCore’s in the rears & it’s insane! Great list!

      Thanks for sharing Shannon - good mix of boards and setups you’ve got there! I used to have a Chumlee actually and totally forgot to include it, sooooo much fun! Need to find one again and try that fin setup! 🤙

    How’s it going! I am going from a foam top to a grovel board down here in Florida I was wondering if you’ve ever heard of the Chili Churro, and if you would recommend it at all? I was going with that until I saw the mayhem board you had at number 1!

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Personally I’d say if you’re transitioning across from a foamie, the Puddle Jumper HP would be the best move. The Churro is a good board, but in terms of where you’re at with your progression the PJHP is going to help you move forward that much easier 🤙

    Thanks again for the great video! I was wondering if you can compare the Hypto twin to the JS Black baron 2.0 and/or 2.1. what’s the differences and the behavior in smaller waves. Thanks

      Ok thanks for your reply!
      I am just about to order the HK twin but I can’t decide between the 5‘8 and 5‘9. For the past 6 years I am on the traditional Hypto krypto 5‘8 with 31 L. I know they say you should get the same as the original HK but especially for some smaller days or with many mid length surfers in the water maybe some extra volume is not bad 😅 to increase wavecount. But I am afraid at the same time to lose some speed and fun going bigger.
      As you have surfed it, can you advise if you think a bit bigger or smaller is the right choice?
      (I am intermediate surfer with 1.80 and 78kg)

      @@archierobinson2854 stoked to hear you're enjoying it! Personally I'd recommend the Phantom over the Gremlin - but it really depends what surf you're aiming for

    Great video - I have owned a 6' seaside loved it but alot of work paddling as Im in my 50's and bigger. How does the HK twin compare to the TOO Fish and Seaside?
    Thanks!

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 10 měsíci

      Stoked to hear you love the seaside Sam! HK Twin is heaps of fun, but I would say the paddle power on it isn’t quite as good as the Too Fish or Seaside. If you’re wanting some easier paddling then a mid length might be well worth testing out, something like the Moe could be a great fit 🤙

    surfing mostly retro fishes. Would you choose fishbeard or dhd phoenix for a new board?

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před 2 lety

      Hmmmmm I guess that depends whether you want something completely different (like the Phoenix) or keep things fishy with the Fishbeard. If you’re adding to the quiver rather than replacing I’d say Phoenix would be a fun addition 🤙

  • @nocommercialschannel2007

    I’ve skateboarded since the 80s doing tricks and am finally at the age of trying small wave surfing. I went on the websight to buy the Seaside surfboard u talked about but know nothing about surfing and am not sure what size board to buy. I am about six feet tall. Any advice on what size I should order?? There were about ten different size options. Thanks

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před rokem

      It’ll really come down to a few things, including surf experience, height and weight - let me know and I can let you know which size should work well for you 🤙

  • @rctrix9063
    @rctrix9063 Před rokem +1

    This is a bit of an elitist selection. There are a lot of other brands out there that make much more affordable and maybe better groveler designs. Expensive brands don't mean better boards.
    Most people over estimate the surfing skills and buy boards that are unsuitable to abilities. Also the standard thruster aka performance board is actually easier to ride than many of the hybrid shapes.
    So just try a board like a Modern Highline or Carbon Jet, you may find more control is better than more speed. 😉

    • @StokedForTravel
      @StokedForTravel  Před rokem

      I wouldn’t really say elitist, but I wanted to include a range of brands that are available across the globe in most surf shops. Plenty of other awesome options out there too, so thanks for sharing some of them 😊
