I bought mine two weeks ago and 0 regrets, I also wanted to play wii u hd zelda remakes, btw the gamepad is awesome, it even can be used as a tv controller, now I don't have to search where it is before siting in my sofa, the only problem imo is the battery life, but hey charging it is also easy. But its the perfect console for someone like me who never had a Wii back then, and now I have the chance to play all those good games I've missed... Zelda Skyward Sword here I go, (also they are so cheap, I bought mine with all the cables and two games for the same price of 2 new switch games)

You wouldn't be able to play Wii U games on the go though, because the discs' diameters are longer than the Switch in portable mode's length, So they wouldn't fit. The Switch probably would've been able to play Gamecube games though.
FYI the Wii controllers will also work for some Wii U games. Just check the back of the box to see compatible controllers. I use them for multiplayer in Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros for Wii U.

Wii along with me and played the game on a Wii console outside the truck, and inside, I inserted the disc into a Wii U and played the game on it. I chose to play on both the TV and the GamePad. I was able to try out the Wii U's backward compatibility with Wii software for the first time. I also found out what the TV button on the GamePad does. Really wish I had this console.

I actually didn't know the Wii U had backward compatibility with the Wii until May 2018, when the GameTruck came to my school, and in there, I played New Super Mario Bros. U using a Wii Remote.

My game pad isn't working and I'm trying to play skylanders spyros adventure for wii, when I select TV only it just shuts down and brings me back to the normal wii u screen without the health warning screen or anythings.

I expected the backwards compatibility, but I didn't expect Wii menu/home page. That's pretty cool. It's like emulating the previous gen or something.
It’s a full Wii’s OS emulation, technically a WII with HDMI. Wii games actually do look better on WiiU than Wii.

It's sad the GameCube adapter for Wii U doesn't let you connect GameCube controllers in Wii mode.
