I'm pretty sure rangefinder on nade launchers affects the projectile arc trajectory more than it does the actual velocity. Basically, shots fly further and more straight than they do without the perk.
I noticed that as well on his video. The non-rangefinder one was dipping significantly lower than the Rangfinder-ed one.
Quint that ain’t it coach, it was certainly not making any difference to the arc of the frag and even if it did, your rockets trajectory alters mid flight?
@@ChunkyJo czcams.com/video/4iQSmF67Exk/video.htmlm45s umm i think you should rewatch, heres a link to the grenade launcher testing part. I would actually say the exact opposite is true... i know almost nothing about destiny's hidden mechanics (thats why i watch these videos lol) but it actually looks like rangefinder has much more of an arc? or is that what you're saying? i can't imagine why you would agree with the comment above you if you think he is wrong though?
Oh baby its another Fallout research video, that good shit, that good content.
“Don’t say I’ve never done anything for ya”...... mate, at this point you’ve done more tests than datto
Ikr
Datto may be a raid God but he seems to be clueless compared to Fallout's PvP analysis.
Datto's not clueless, he just doesn't upload the good stuff that Fallout does
These people put more research and work into this than my science project
4:25 love the way he says "compact"
Many thanks for the invite! If you need a Crash Test Guardian lemme know!
- Hex_Outcast
Great work as always. Would love a dmg comparison for different GL grenade types. Eg sticky, implosion rounds, proximity...
Thankyou 4 taking the time 2 do all the comparisons of weapons.
Thanks for this, I was always curious how much velocity and blast radius mattered, I would have thought velocity was more important.
In my eyes it’s cluster bombs or nothing
Forcer true but I honestly don’t like them in pvp because if you shoot the rocket in the middle of some enemies and then dive in there, the cluster bombs actually have a chance to damage you a TON
Lol 2 destiny comment gods debating things
@@boerica1207 i completely agree, in pvp scenarios they can get you killed
Yup, they are way more effective than they were in D1... They explode all at once and do A TON of damage so eveen if you don‘tt get the instant kill you are more likely to kill them with the cluster bombs
Cluster or full blast radius
My miltias birthright rolled with quickdraw, and rangefinder. Its very fun to use in the crucible.
I’d would’ve like to know if there was some sort of relationship between blast radius and proximity detonation!
it sure is, since they “had” to nerf it ;)
TIL - I was under the impression that more blast meant more damage at least in PvE. Thanks as always Fallout for doing all the work for me and letting me strip the benefits of your testing.
p.s. if you are really interested in testing a militia birthright with rangefinder let me know, I have one with and one without that you could test side by side.
We bad with our rockets . Glad they came back in 2021 . Can’t believe it’s been a while playing this game and it’s still going . Season of the chosen
Would love to see someone do a video about what weapon mods are best for rocket launchers such as target adjuster and what they actually do.
Oh wow thanks for this video! I thought the high and low velocity rockets would have a bigger difference!
Wow! Super diappointed on how little an effect velocity has on rocket speed. We really needs a SERIOUS buff to Velocity speed to make the stat more effective. In PVP this would seriously help with Tracking Module launchers if Velocity allowed it to fly faster and track better.
And I LOOOVE tracking rockets with clusterbombs
You couldn't be more wrong. You want the lowest velocity possible on a tracking rocket. The slower it flies the more time it has to course correct.
Kal El Exactly this. The only way they could counter that is if they brought back aggressive tracking like Truth had in D1. That thing would follow you to the ends of the Earth and practically switch directions on a dime!
2 years later, wish granted. Impulse amplifier baybee
it feels like the birthright with rangefinder straightens the arc and makes it shoot like a rocket launcher
Thanks for the info on those differences. If yur on ps4 and want to test it I got the militia's birthright with range finder.
Your outro, when you you said "This video was brought to you by..." and then leaned to the side, I totally thought you were gonna rip ass and just end the video.
Good stuff. Aztecross did a Malitia's Birthright video where he tested Rangefinder. It just shot straighter with less arch.
In PVP I love a grenade launcher with sticky grenades(Edge Transit in my case, yep), why? Brings back the feeling of the good old days when you could stick trip mines to Gaurdians in Crucible. Great fun!
Great video, thanks man. I really was wondering about this. Time to clean the vault
That’s cool, but did you know Wisconsin produces 951,000,000 lbs of cheese every year
Don’t go cheap on tires either. It’s where the rubber meets the road.
9:23 *laughs nervously
So range finder on grenade launchers is just a flatter arc, shown by the higher impact point on the range finder one
Thanks for crushing my Rangefinder bubble!
Back in d1 I'd go for low blast radius rocket launchers for pvp so I can shoot people close to me without killing myself. That was with grenades and horseshoes tho. Haven't used rockets in pvp in d2. But I'd imagine depending on play style a similar concept could work for you
I'm now sad that my edge transit isn't a god roll (rampage, proximity, and rangefinder), when I thought rangefinder actually made up for specing for high blast radius, low velocity
I love you vids they are always very informative and before watching I’m going to go with velocity as that is what I always have felt was more important. Be glad to see if I was correct!
I’m glad you called bygones a rocket launcher because it bloody feels like it!
I use bad omens with high velocity, tracking and cluster bomb. The thing is i only use it in gambit, mostly to counter sleeper invaders or me invading. I can just lock on, shoot and hide behind cover and having high velocity = insta kill. But sometimes i trade but it kills them in the end
I got one with high velocity and tracking but no cluster, but it has made gambit so much more fun. I think high velocity does help a little bit at further ranges. In gambit I'm shooting at sniper ranges. My bad omens made gambit fun. I was getting owned by sleepers until I got it to drop. Other tracking rockets work too but bad omens has a high rpm higher than most other rockets. I'm looking for a tracking, cluster roll for sure
And this is why I dont dismantle any iron banner weapons. 9 times out of 10 they have really good perks or perform much better than other weapons. Roar of the bear looked weak at first glance, its actually one of my best launchers and I dont even have cluster bombs on it. Roar of the bear and Bad Omens are my go to now
You mentioned the damage cap in PVP is 300 for rockets.
1. Is there a damage cap for grenade launchers?
2. I saw the perk “spiked grenades. (Does more damage on direct impact) You didn’t really cover that, Fallout.
FYI: Love your content.
Most if not all grenade launchers will Ohko if you get a direct hit in Pvp. Spikes is good for pve
What about damage in PVE?
On the one-shot launchers it works. With proximity grenade you do about 184 on direct impact, and with spike it's over 200. 234 or something like that. Much more difficult to hit though.
One shot grenade launcher damage is equal to drum grenade launchers? That’s my confusion.
No, heavy launchers do more damage, naturally. But you can get one shots to kill in one shot with the right perks and a good shot.
Hey Fallout, could you do a video on Draw time for bows vs without it to see how much of an impact it makes?
I have the iron banner rocket with range finder....the velocity is crazy and felt noticeably quicker
Fallout btw I'm a big fan ❤️ but indica did a test on rocket launcher cluster bombs with high blast radius and low blast radius in pve and found out that even with high spread of the clusters, targets in the middlesh will get hit with the clusters same as the low spread clusters on the other hand far targets will get hit from the high but not the low (tested sins of the past and curtain call)
I am saying this because I didn't see you test the two stats on boss or in pve you just said it was good (test it on calus good boss not too big or small)
Other than that you're golden❤️
I need one of these on Zen Moment and Dynamic Sway Reduction.
yeah a rocket with zen moment would be soooooo good! 🙈
I’ve got a roar of the bear with tracking and rangefinder
Paul Arrington rangefinder?
Can you make a video on which perks are better for grenade launchers like proximity or like sticky nades
It's quite easy to pick between the two based on combat needs.
Proximity for quick fights and airborne targets.
Sticky for strategic mine placements.
I was really surprised what little difference high velocity made :/
Rangefinder on grenade launchers is useful for a better linear flight path more so than the speed of its trajectory.
Good ol fallout. I have a militia's birth right with range finder, quick draw, and high velocity rounds/concussive grenades. On PS4 you can use my account to test and use the footage.
Huh, I always thought it was velocity for pvp and blast radius for pve. Guess it's the reverse, thanks fallout!
I think the best rocket is not curtain call anymore. It would have to go to a rocket with cluster field prep and impact induction. If there is a faster fire rocket like curtain call with this roll I want it.
Swarm of the raven intensifies
I always thought on a cluster bomb rocket, the more Blast Radius - the more clusters..
Ph damn, the Redeem clip has me dying
Papa Fallout dropping some hot wisdom
This helps a lot. Thanks dude!
Eyyy that was me with the broom ;D but fr had a lot of fun that night, cool to finally see the video👍
Really cool video, but you missed the importance of spike grenades for PvE, specially on 150 rpm
What about the difference that blast radius vs velocity against a moving target - if someone is running laterally how much of a difference in terms of kill window do we observe?
Great vid fallout. Learned a lot 👍🏽
Phenomenal video. I can't believe I've been doing it wrong all this time 😅
Truth-teller had huge blast radius but concussion nades are way better for majors.
Your videos are making me a better player and helping me finally delete some what if rolls (it's getting crowded in the vault). Do you know if reload perks or masterworks cld have a noticeable impact on boss dps?
Thanks Fallout! 👍👍
Thanks a ton.
You messed something up. Rangefinder on grenade launchers decreases the arch on the grenade when it is flying trough the air
Hey your upper right corner link at the beginning of this vid doesn't link to the kill clip/rampage vid but to your "fastest way to beat riven" video.
Can someone please do a video on what perks make a good PvP grenade launcher? I find that other than proximity grenades shot bounces everywhere and completely unpredictable.
Proximity grenades and quickdrawn(last perk is not that important) for every single heavy GL, quickdrawn + auto loading holster for special GLs(don't like proximity nades on them because most of the times they explode before reaching OHK range).
Edit: Max blast radius, other stats don't matter.
Sticky nades are fun too. I love the prospector you can set traps with the stickys to pull off some pretty fun plays.
Just find the perks that you like, dawg
On heavy nade launchers, I go for velocity with sticky grenades, and rampage. the other perk is a wildcard; doesn't really matter. For the one-shot launchers, specifically militia's because that's the only random roll one right now, I have an ambitious assassin, range finder, with proximity; it's dirty. Real dirty. A thousand kills with it already. The spike grenades are good for one shotting enemies, but you have to be spot on; it's incredibly difficult, but very rewarding.
how has this man not broken 100k subs?
Good analysis 👍
You said that there is a negligible difference in low and high velocity. Isn't it the split seconds that make the difference in PVP?
I have a birthright with and without rangefinder if you wish to test.
If your RNG were truly terrible, you would've had it drop with rangefinder. (Great vid as always, thank you!)
One thing is left out, how about how velocity affects the direct hit damage? Relevant mostly in PvE, cause direct hits in PvP tend to kill anyway. I've been told that higher velocity leads to higher impact damage?
What about spike grenades? How much of a damage boost do they give compared to it without spike grenades?
Hmm i feel so sad when the scorn guys in gambit side step dodged my rocket with tracking XD
I fucking love this channel.
Now I regret dismantling my roar of the bear.....
Hmm...Riven....I want to see a blast of the bast...6x rat king or Sweet Business :P
Learned a lot 😍
five years ago....DAYUM you sound young my BOY!
OMG BABY FACE!!
Thanks man
I have Roar of the bear with range finder if you're looking for one to test
Uhm, wasn't the "Blast Radius affects Cluster Bomb Spread" myth debunked years ago?
Has the tight blast radius for clusters against bosses been tested since rocket damage changed? IE the ridiculous buff to blast radius and nerf to clusters does more blast radius equal more better now? Or is it still tighter is more dps on bosses just hit your shots, as the golden ruler here?? Who the hell has any reliability of rockets in PVP anymore, so many direct hits with nade launchers and rockets and i watch laggy guardians walk away. Like i get clusters have RNG but more often than no i watch teammates hit perfect rocket shots into 1 or many guardians only to see everyone walk away near full health. Nades since the proximity mine nerf are fairly useless and very unreliable now too which sucks as that was my favorite heavy as 4 nades meant 3 - 4 kills if i played safe/smart.
i want to ask what about the imapct dmg??🤔
if you have significantly higher velocity, then will the impact dmg also increases?? you know, like ppl die of sword flying into a wall kind of logic
Damn that ship at the start looks glorious. Whats the name?
So the damage on a rocket launcher isn't influenced by the blast radius, so every rocket launcher rocket does the same damage?
the part about not using grenade launchers for raid bosses aged well
@Fallout Plays does Velocity affect tracking at all? Is a rocket more likely to track and hit an opponent based on speed of the rocket?
Great video, as always
@Fallout does the velocity have or blast radius have any correlation to how much damage per shot a rocket does? E.g. a higher velocity is almost like a higher impact?
Thanks for sharing. Bless
Thank you
Another thing you can't go cheap on fallout: d2 forsaken
I've got a militias birthright with rangefinder if you wanna test it lol.
Hey I have a Militas birthright with range finder. And I got another one with the blinding perk if u wanna test them.
Idk man, I kinda disagree about grenade launchers and velocity. I find it much easier to get kills with a high velocity outrageous fortune than an edge transit or play of the game. Mostly just my preference though. Maybe velocity is more tied to drop versus actual speed of projectile? You could kind of see it in your vid. Also, sticky grenades are the bomb. If only militia's could roll with that...
Hello I would like to request that you test if Super Mods affect the amount of super you need to gain via Dynamo etc. It is clear that they reduce the basic cooldown time, but do they help if you are generating super with Dynamo or other armour perks? Thanks muchly.
You might wanna add that i-link to the kill clip vs rampage video before people notice, mate. 🙂
Almost 90K!!!
for anyone watching this now they changed blast radius to not effect the total damage of the rockets and charge time masterworks also don't affect damage anymore.
The more you know! 💫💫🌟
Can blast radius go above 100? I have a tier 4 masterwork and it’s at 100 blast radius, should I upgrade it more?
Dimkee Hotay send it fellar
Cluster bombs are *not* effected by blast radius
Meist What about implosion rounds? Says a more controlled explosion??
