  • Heritage Gruppe is proud to offer this 1974 BMW 2002tii for sale on behalf of our client. 1 of only 2133 Tii's made in 1974, it truly is a special vintage.
This 2002tii was a passion project which was purchased in 2018, and has undergone a 5-year-long restoration under current ownership. This 2002tii is a great driver's car that’s ready to be taken across the country with the convenience of added air conditioning and a fuel injected M10 engine which runs like a dream.
According to the seller, he purchased this 2002tii as a good running project a few years ago to restore and enjoy. The car had originally been finished in Verona Red, However, being in need of a paint job, the seller decided to strip the car down to a bare chassis and repaint it in Shwarz Black. Prep included body work, and metal repair, and once painted, the undercarriage and wheel wells were undercoated. Additional exterior updates include a front spoiler, front and rear bumper conversions to early OEM bumpers, Gotti 13” Alpina Mtex wheels, and much more outlined in the photo gallery below.
Aside from the exterior of the car, the drivetrain was fully updated as well including a front and rear crank seal replacement, a Getrag 245 E21 5 speed transmission, AARDVARK Racing 5 speed conversion and LSD, 228mm flywheel with new clutch kit, a new stainless exhaust system, Bilstein front and rear shocks, an aluminum radiator with new hoses, a new water pump, fuel injection pump, Bosch spark plugs and wire set as well as a distributor cap and rotor, front wheel bearings, new tie rod assemblies and track rod, new brakes, and more detailed in the build sheet. Also added during their ownership is a BEHR AC system with a custom center console which blows ice cold air to keep you cool during the summer heat.
The interior of the car has been reupholstered and features two Recaro front bucket seats wrapped in black leather and a OEM rear bench seat and door panels in black to match. Taking a peek under the carpets, as well as inside the trunk, you’ll find that the car has been lined with Dynamat to keep road noise out. The headliner has also been reupholstered in black, as well as the front and rear door panels. The interior and trunk carpets have been replaced, and new brown Coco Seagrass matts create a great contrast against the black. The window handles and door handles have been updated with billet aluminum handles, and the steering wheel and shift knob have been replaced by Nardi woodgrain parts.
The car sits on 13” Gotti 4x100 6J Alpina Mtex wheels finished in black with a chrome lip, and are wrapped in 185/70/13 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The brakes remain original featuring disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear with plenty of life left all around.
The five-digit odometer shows 54,560 miles, and all electronics, switches, and gauges are in working order. The original stereo has been upgraded to a Retrosound stereo with bluetooth functionality, and a microphone attachment can be seen behind the steering wheel for any phone calls. The speakers have been upgraded to JBL 6x9, JBL 5, a 10” sub, and the kick panels have been custom made and upholstered to house 2 speakers in the front.
Overall this car is in great shape mechanically and physically, and is in need of some minor finishing touches to make it a winning show car. It’s a true drivers car that starts up every single time, and is looking for someone that wants a very clean 2002tii base to start with and finish to their desired specifications without spending much more on top.
This 1974 BMW 2002tii is a true drivers car that's ready for any adventure. Over the past 5 years, the owner has spent over $70,000 in repairs, maintenance, and mods, which include OEM early bumpers, 13" Gotti wheels, a front valence, and black leather Recaro seats. This 2002tii is a mechanically sound example, and has been retrofitted with air conditioning to aid with the hot Southern California heat. If interested in this tii, make sure to keep an eye out for the auction coming soon!
