  • This video isn't so much of a DIY, as it is more of an overview on installing Precision Raceworks coils for the N54, or more specifically the BMW 535i variant of the N54. Hopefully this helps some of you out if you get stuck. However the whole process should not take you more than 30 minutes to complete. I've had these on for about 500 miles so far and they have been wonderful!

Thanks, mine is a 2009. I'd recommend these for sure. I've had zero misfires since installing them.

What’s the Link you use to get 535 ones

There's no specific 535i ones since they fit all N54's. You can purchase them at www.precisionraceworks.com/ or www.docrace.com

My plug wires are facing the intake manifold. I have to completely 180 them and I don’t think it should be like that. Do you think they sent me the wrong plug wires? I’m calling them in the morning

If it has the coils mounted near the intake manifold, then they sent you the N55 one. It should still work fine on the N54 and it is a better mounting location.

@@FoulNews the coils are still mounted in the stock location but the plug is faced the opposite direction. i have to turn the plug wire which is putting tension on it. Does that make sense? lol

I have the same problem, also my bracket doesn't have a big enough rise from the mounting points to put the coils under it like this guy does. I just 180'd the boots and mounted the packs on top the bracket.. *shrug*
Did you ever look into if they sent you the wrong kit?

@@FoulNews read my second comment do you think I’m good with just a new belt ?

    • @FoulNews

@@killed_phill796 If yours snapped, then no. At a minimum remove the crank pulley and inspect the seal. If the seal is perfectly in tact, then a new belt and a crank seal guard would be my recommendation. But if the crank seal has even the slightest damage, drop the oil pan and pull the valve cover.
