Lyrics
There is a voice calling for me
There is a light coming down on me
There is a doubt that is clearing
There is a day that is dawning
There is a wound that is healing
There is a season waiting for me
There is a road that is turning
There is a fire still burning
A sickness in me
Constant pace towards the end
The need is stronger
This time the need is deeper
There is a peace I am searching
There is a freedom I'm depending on
There is a pain that's never ending
There is a rain falling only on me
There is a dream I am living
There is a life I am dreaming of
There is a death I'm awaiting
There is ahome I am deserting
I hold my breath and wait
Only moments remain
Movement for departed hope
Effect for absent friend
Sever the faith from my body
Leave me begging for more
Take what I have and deliver me
Into everlasting sleep
Soothing trance
Colours fade
And disappear
Ethereal light
Showing me what I can do without
In a motionless scenes
There is only me
I take what I can
Controlling you to get ahead
Fading away
And leaving
Long for sleep
Closer now
Lead the way into death
Every wretched dream
I have left behind
Every waking hour
I lie in wait
Sucked inside by will
Gone into the flood
All my questions unfurled
As I was put to the test
Once I'm below there's no turning back
Plunging into the deepest void
Departed shell left drained behind
Pacing roads unknown
Searching for a new home
Desert in my eye
Barren lands inside - Hudba
Words cannot describe how much I love this band.
It just hits different than other metal. They sew so much emotion into the songs. Has and will be my favorite band for eternity.
No they can't, but I hear you. It's true musical genius. The way the melodies tie together is just something else. It's impossible to answer what style they are. There everything and more. Like you said though, these words cannot describe the love 🙂
Can't believe I went from hating metal to loving Opeth in just about 1 year. Turns out, I had a false perception of metal. Never thought growling would become my liking.
Well said
No but your profile picture can.
This is the song I pick to share with my friends who 'listen to every type of music'... Turns out most of them, don't.
in their defense i won,t sit thru country. i know what you mean.
... but.... that’s just shouting😂😂
I'm one of those guys pretending to "listen to every type of Music". I liked the song very much, except for the "normal" singing starting at around minute 5. I thought this was a bit unfitting, nice song nevertheless

Don't get me wrong, I love the new Opeth... but I absolutely crave this stuff. Every single beat of this song, and the rest of the tracks from the album, is perfection. Mike's gut-wrenching growls, the relentless, driving, punchy distorted guitar tone, intricate rhythm work, dream-like and trance-inducing mellow sections, just... everything. Fucking phenomenal, and completely unmatched.
MidnightNaomi I 💯 agree with everything you've just said. Opeth is a fuckin' brilliant band! This song and the rest of the album are favorites.
I cannot agree unfortunately - I really don't like much of what they have done lately. ... but their heavy work, their heavy work...
Agree with everything you said. The main thing I'm noticing upon revisiting this album in regards to later albums is the absence of Steven Wilson's production. Akerfeldt is an incredible producer in his own right and does indeed have a clear defined path that makes sense for him to step into producing, but what's missing is the dreaminess in the mellow parts that Steven Wilson brought. It's fun to go back to Blackwater Park through Damnation and take note of the Porcupine Tree-ness of it all.
Yup. 2000 - 2005 was absolutely golden: Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Damnation, GHOST REVERIES (favorite)...
I got introduced though the track Ghosts of Perdition, and I look for that paticular vibe in the Opeth Songs I wanna find. I, personally, am not so moved by this one :C

Maybe one of the most underrated drummers ever. His technical and jazz ability are simply incredible. You won't find drummers like this anymore.
@@dudeguybro why wouldn't you find someone like him today? drumming is the one discipline that it seems we haven't seen the best from yet in the rock sphere.
Yeah he was amazing. Axe is better however. Much more tight drumming when it comes to live performances, as well as his drumming at the studio albums are just ridicoulous to listen to, especially if you know a little about drim techniques and how hard the stuff from heritage and up is
This is why I fell in love with Opeth over a decade ago. We've been married ever since.
3:55 Transitioning from such a heavy tone into the first clean vocals section on the song and back to the growls is one of my favorite Opeth moments.

The scream at 7:47 was the first time my eyes widened and I had to rewind the song a bit just to listen to it again.
Frog issa crazy ass growl
I’ve been looking for the song with this growls for like 3 hours
Alright who isn't teaching you the difference between a scream and a growl?
Normally when you layer a higher pitched growl over a really low one it sounds monstrous
Exactly I did the same thing upon first listen
It is an international tragedy that we don't get to experience Mikael's growls anymore.
True.... But you got to see it from his side. Sing the way he did back on the CD'S 💿 before. You would not have a voice left especially how long tours go. It's amazing that he can still even speak.
you can still experience them at a live show.

This is my favorite song on Deliverance. All this time, I've thought it was "master's apprentice," not "master's apprentices."
It is "Master's Apprentice," he introduces it that way live. I bought the original copy when it was released, that was the title. They must have changed the title do to legal issues, as it was named after a band of the same name. Either that, or the Mandela Effect has cursed us both.

7:09 How beautiful vocals! Opeth is life!
This song is extremely underrated. The first time I heard this, those riffs completely rock. And then the midsection where it transitions, to a softer sound, that gave me chills. And then finally the death growl takes you by surprise before the outro. Sounds very evil. I think this is overshadowed by the title track but this is just as good in my opinion.
Wreath I would say is the best on the album and such a murderous opening track but this and deliverance are definitely also amazing. The whole album is so fucking brutal
I forgot how many good riffs were in this song. Jesus... I should listen to this more often.

8:38 From this point cymbals sounds like someone is making sword with a hammer or like someone is trying to escape from imprisonment so is trying to break the chains
Lopez is a master of the ride cymbal in this song. Watch the Lamentations version, he even changes it up a bit.

Holy shit i just got it
The picture on Deliverance is the person on the bed looking at the one from Damnation witch is next to the bed and light is behind her,i think you can even see her reflection in the mirror
But you need to look at the whole picture for Deliverance. I agree that they are connected to some extent but many things are very unclear for me.
what exactly is unclear?
I like to believe that the mirror is actually a window. There is a blank face in the windowpane.
Goddayum
The last song on Deliverance (By the pain I see in others) is about a demon possessing a person. In this album art, you can see the demon watching through the windowpane looking at its target (the person being possessed). Next, on the Damnation album art, you will see the possessed person standing next to the bed.
keep coming back to this one ...
I LOVE this album!!!

That ending though. The astonishing sound of completion
The bridge after the the verses are badass.

Best Opeth song no doubt about it this is the Opeth I love most
This is an absolute masterpiece, nothing less. No other song I've ever heard is this mesmerising
it's crazy how in a song you can have both one the heaviest, most twisted riffs ever put on the genre (2:35) followed by one of the most beautiful chord progessions i've ever heard (6:00). Opeth is at another level

To me there is no other band capable of reaching such levels of emotional transcendence and depth with its music. This is the greatest band on the planet.
"Master's Apprentices" is a song by the Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. It appears on their album "Deliverance," which was released in 2002. The song is known for its intricate instrumentation, dynamic shifts, and intense atmosphere, characteristic of Opeth's style. It showcases both heavy, aggressive sections and melodic, atmospheric passages, typical of the band's progressive metal sound. The lyrics explore themes of inner conflict, existential questioning, and spiritual turmoil, which are common themes in Opeth's music. Overall, "Master's Apprentices" is regarded as one of the standout tracks on the "Deliverance" album and a fan favorite among Opeth enthusiasts.
