Welcome to the New Year and a new Beatles' arrangement! Both Blackbird and Here Comes the Sun are two of the most iconic songs ever written for acoustic guitar. Despite them being from different eras of the Beatles' songwriting, by different Beatles' themselves (Paul McCartney and George Harrison), and the lyric nature of each song is SUPER different (Blackbird is a narrative around the Civil Rights movement while Here Comes the Sun is plain and simply a fun-loving song about the change of seasons), I've decided to combine both of these into one medley. I love both songs, and this is a wonderful performance of both. I would say, “Here Comes the Sun” is a statement of hope and the optimism we should embrace at the start of a new day. George was into his lessons with the Maharishi and developed a great relationship with Ravi Shankar. What a great light we can shine into the universe with that beautiful hope!
