Even though some editors like to bad-mouth Grammarly, thank you for pointing its benefits and stressing that it's useful before sending your manuscript to the editor.

I too love that Grammarly! Also, by listening to the items grammar with which you struggle, we must've attended the same elementary school! At 78 years later, I still cannot wrap my mind around the correct use of the of the comma.

I've been following your videos for some time and I love them. Please forgive my ignorance, but isn't that comma before 'and' an Oxford comma? Isn't that a bit of a literary license to use it or not? I personally hate the Oxford comma unless there are specific occasions to use it. Then again, English is not my mother tongue...

Both Grammarly and Pro Writing Aid are great tools, I love them both. But, (and it is a big but), they are to be used with care. I find PWA will give me a clear document, and when I copy and paste it into Grammarly, I get three of four errors showing up. Neither programme agrees with each other at times, especially where the comma is concerned. I like PWA best because it gives you more things to check. I love the quality of their reports. PS. I use the free versions and work through the errors manually. As an amateur photographer, I understand the value of these programmes. I have Capture1 Pro11 and Photoshop Elements in my arsenal, and they deliver all I need for top class imagery. Maybe one day, I can add the "paid-for" version of Grammarly to my collection. lol

Hello, I enjoyed your video. I do mainly academic writing and use Chicago/Turabian Style manual. I noticed in your text you did not spell out "94," which is ok for novel writing, but for scholarly work, we are taught to spell out numbers 0-99. Does Grammarly have a setting for this type of work? Please understand I'm not being critical. I just want to know the software's options. Thanks

We Americans speak one way and write another. People, apparently, slept through 12 years of English in school. The college I graduated from required all students to complete a 2 part, English competency exam prior to their graduation. Also, all students were required to take two semesters of English writing called "Communications Skills" prior to sitting for the exam. Most students sat for the exam in the first semester of their sophomore year after passing Comm. Skills I and II in their freshman year. Students could retake the test as many times as they needed; however, if a student was to fail the test in his/her final semester, there was no diploma awarded. I was a student instructor for the college's English Skills Lab. It was my task to aid those junior/senior students who needed special attention on a fast track to competency before graduation. You would not believe how many students could not write their own language. It was embarrassing, especially after they graduated from high school. But, does "Grammarly" point out the mistakes made by writers with an explanation of the rules governing the grammatical errors? Or, is "Grammarly" just a correction device?

Faf - when I receive company emails with perfect grammar and spelling - I worry that the person sending it has spent way too much time on it.
Email should be readable, get the point across and not be overly wordy.
Think it - plan it - write it - quickly review it - send it,
Using Grammarly ads an extra layer of faf to the workflow. I'm paying people to work not to write essays!
I don't care if someone writes 'who' instead of 'whom' . I know what 'hte' means, I also know what 'htem' means - why bother fafing around to correct?

I would give it 2 out of 5. It corrects faults but not as successfuly as in reviews on CZcams. And one more negative thing about it, is that you cannot rate it on the official site. Which may be an evidence that the creators don't want us to know about real reviews. You cannot write any comments even on its CZcams Chanel. Coincidence?

@@thecreativepenn How do I know that you really mean what you wrote and don't get some money for your good reviews from Grammarly Team? Joke :) Maybe it helps you, when you are alreday good at English and need a little bit feedback for your writing. BUT this program isn't good enough for money it costs! It corrects you, but it suggests sometimes wrong words and it doesn't corrects you as good as it promised in it's advertisements or in some comments. If you serach for Grammarly Advertisement videos on CZcams, so in every video there are more dislikes than likes, so many find it unuseful. And one more thing If the program was really good, there wouldn't be closed comments on its CZcams Channel and there would be an opportunity for users to grade it. Next time I will be smarter and won't buy programs without real reviews!

Grammarly doesn't improve your writing any more than hiring someone to paper your walls helps improve your wallpapering skills. These stupid insane machine learning AI BS algorithms are trying to inflict some sort of digital fascism for the masses where 100 years from now people won't have any thoughts of their own, they'll walk around with visors on watching images from flickr and videos from youtube while the planet they live in turns into a dystopian wastland with factory after factory producing energy to power the computers that are needed to reinforce this virtual AI dreamworld everyone is living in, These stupid little programs are the beta test and by submissively giving in and effectively removing your brain you are feeding this bizarre dystopian future that the zuckerberg and gates weirdos of this world are dreaming. What they want if for, I dont' know...they are mortals like us I believe, and will die soon, why are they content on destroying the future generations?! The great writers of the renaissance periods left us a challenge, to rise to their calibre using only the mightiest weapon of them all, then pen. Any "writer" who can not use a pen to write is not more a writer than a dentist is a drain surgeon.... IDIOTS
EDIT.... I have a video of me writing this response, i did not writ THEN PEN ... CZcams AI is continually changing the spelling of my posts, to discredit people and push the notion into people that "hey maybe Im dumb maybe I need dat dere grammerly thing duurrrr"

I just started using Grammarly but not the premium yet. My issue is mainly to help with paragraphs. Who do you use for that?

I decide on my own paragraphs. That's a personal style thing as well as related to genre e.g. compare a James Patterson thriller to a literary fiction novel and you will see the difference.

@@thecreativepenn I have several of his books. I will have to really look at those in another light. Thank you so much for your help.
