Hey aci, in the last devlog you mentioned having problems with the steering system in the hydra sub. there is another vehicle mod called eureka that uses roughly the same steering system and it might be worth talking to the devs of that mod
oh man this takes me back soo much stuff i remember from this era of subnautica i especially remember the old cyclops voice ive been looking everywhere for it cant find it without music over it though. i remember the old super seaglide ,when the skull was on its side, when the gun island was just a hole in the ground , the nuclear reactor was an outside buildable too much to remember.
I know im a little late but here is a HUGE feature idea for the mod
I do know you will most likely never see this or implement it but its still a great idea! well ideas...

Section 1 General stuff to add
- Large Crystal Deposits
these are large crystal deposits that function like normal large resourse deposits but for crystals. To mine them you would need the Advanced Drill Arm for the Prawn Suit (ill get there later on)
-Crystal Crab
This is a medium-large size animal that roams around the mid-depth void cluster islands. If you get too close they will attack you dealing 20 dmg. On its back it has diffrent crystals that you can collect if you get close from the back without anything(swimming). After you crab all the crystals from its back it will slowly start to go to the nearest place with crystals (on the ground,walls, etc.) . after a few seconds it will pick up the crystals and put them back on its back repeating the procces.
-Crystal Crab Leviathan
This is a bigger version of the Crystal Crab that just does more damage (30) and has a back big enough for the prawn suit to walk on. also instead of normal crystals it would have large crystal deposits on its back that you can drill with the prawn suit. everything else functions as the normal one but a bit slower and leads to large crystal deopsits. they are also in the deeper void clusters
!Warning! From now on almost everything needs crystals to make so i wont be repeating that
-Advanced Upgrades For Seamoth/Prawn suit
These are upgrades that are more expansive and need crystals to make but are very much worth it. They have a PURPLE backround.
Example:
-200 health
-200 Battery Charge
-Sonar for Prawn
-Darkness Charger (Recharges battery in areas with no light and caves)
-Over time (slow) health repair
- Advanced Arm Module for Prawn Suit (Purple Backround)
is very expansive but lets you have 4 arms instead of 2 on the Prawn Suit
-Advanced Drill Arm (Green Backround)
This arm would cost An arm and two legs but gives you these benefits:
-Speeds up drilling speed of normal large resourse deposits
-allows you to drill large crystal deposits
-floodlight arm (Green Backround)
this one would use a LOT of power when active but would light up HUGE areas
seems balanced, right?
-Stasis Arm(Green Backround)
functions like a stasis rifle for the prawn suit. uses 5% power per fully charged shot and 1% per quick shot
it would stun enemys for a bit longer than the normal stasis rifle but needs more charge-up
-Expert Upgrades for Seamoth/Prawn Suit
These would cost 2 arms and 2 legs (and a head) but add HUGE buffs. they need the Advanced Modification Station to upgrade from advanced to expert (i will get to that later)
example:
-400 health
-400 battery
-increased sonar range
-increased charge speed in dark areas (and caves)
-increases over-time health repair
-sheild (like in cyclops) *
-3D map (like in cyclops) *
-creature decoy deploy system (Like in cyclops) *
-Thermal Power Upgrade (Like in cyclops) *
- +25 consumable health every 2 mins *
RED backround.
-Void Depth Upgrades for Seamoth/Prawn Suit
Increases the max depth for both so you can go in the void
Seamoth:
MK1 = 1300
MK2 = 2000
MK3 = 2400
Prawn Suit
MK1 = 2400
MK2 = 3000
MK3 = 3900
-Advanced Vehicle Fabricator
With this you can craft all the Advanced upgrades and some expert ones (whit a "*")
buildable with a habitat builder
maybe blueprints in void wrecks?
-Advanced Modification Station
With these you can upgrade advanced upgrades to expert
Void Depth MK1 --> Void Depth MK2
Sonar --> Increased Sonar range
200 hp --> 400 hp
-Mesma Crystals
Really rare crystal.
found in the deepest void clusters
and in Mesma Caves
-large mesma deposits.
like mesma crystals but BIGG and you need the advanced drill arm to drill
-Void Ion Cubes
Only come in large deposits
in precursor bases (void ones)
need the advanced drill arm to drill
can be crafted into Void Ion batterys and Power Cells
-Void Ion Batterys
provide more power than the normal ion batterys and can be used to craft a Void Ion Cell (from 2)
-Void Ion Cell
provides the most power in the game and can be used to craft 2 reeeally good upgrades for the seamoth and prawn
-Advanced Jetpack for prawn
needs the Viod Ion Cells and Mesma crystals
TRIPLES the jetpack capacity for prawn suit
-Ion Boosters for Seamoth
needs the Viod Ion Cells and Mesma crystals
Adds another speed to sea moth(like in cyclops)
-standard
-Ion boosters (doubles the speed, makes big noise, can go for 1m 20sec before overheating, takes a lot of power)

Section 2 New biome
-Mesma Caves
in the deepest void islands there could be a crater that leads to the mesma caves.
it is very ominus with the green smoke like in the lost river.
in here there will be tunnels with large mesma deposits and Mesma Eels
-Mesma Eels
like mesma fish but have bigger attract range and speed
also more bite hurt (more dmg)
-bonus
in the center of the Mesma Caves there could be a main room with a Big Mesma Crystal
this one is like 3 large mesma deposits
but takes longer to drill
is also guarded by 3 Mesma Eels

Section 3 Hydra Upgrades
-Vehicle Dock Module
a Single Vehicle Dock likem in the cyclops but automaticly repairs and charges the vehicle.
this would be in the back.
-Drone :)
This would be in the cockpit.
its a built-in camera drone for the hydra
there would be
-the drone compartment
-the drone lauch button (like in scanner room)
-the drone upgrades access
-drone upgrades fabricator
-upgrades for drone
there would be 4 upgrade slots.
they DO stack
5 types of upgrades:
-safe distance from hydra upgrade
-sonnar upgrade
-Creature Decoy deployment
-Defence system (Shock everything around it for a certain amount)
-3D map (like in cyclops)
- safe distance form hydra
there would be a safe distance form hydra your drone can go. if you go past that distance your drone would start to take damage.
-stacking
1. safe distance from hydra upgrade
0 = 500 m
1 = 1000 m
2 = 1500 m
3 = 2500 m
4 = 3000 m
2. sonnar upgrade
1 = adds sonar
2 = sonar range + 5%
3 = sonar range + 25%
4 = sonar range + 50%
3. Creature Decoy deployment
(you can craft them from the drone upgrade fabricator too)
1 = 1 deocy
2 = 2 decoys
3 = 3 decoys
4 = 5 decoys
4. Defence system
1 = Instant shock
2 = shock for 1 sec
3 = shock for 2 sec
4 = shock for 3 sec
5. 3D map
1 = adds map
2 = map range + 5%
3 = map range + 25%
4 = map range + 50%
-Basic drone info
you can start piloting the drone from a press of a button. when you are controling the drone you can move the player or sub. you can use the upgrades like in the seamoth. it has 150 hp and 200 charge. when its in the hydra it will charge. BUT, there is no way to repair it, meaning if it get brocken you have to craft a new one from the upgrade fabricator. they are not too expanisve. creatures can also grab it.
you can stop piloting by pressing E but it will leave the drone where you left it. to get it back into the Hydra you have to come close and get in the Drone Dock. (kinda like a seamoth entering the cyclos dock). it has its own built in dock.

I dont know how realistic it is to add these ideas but they would be very cool!
if you use any of the ideas or change them a bit so they can be implemented please add the sentace "I love beans" SOMEWHERE in the game. ANYWHERE. please.
also these are just all my ideas trown out there so you dont have to use all. (like you have to/will use any XD)

I miss the hell hole, I wish they returned part of it because traveling to the Aurora and looking down into a seemingly bottomless pit was terrifying. I also miss the old crystal model that was used for lithium.

A blast from the past for sure... I remember that the Prawn suit was added in summer 2016, and by that point Subnautica was basically finished in terms of gameplay progression, just lacking the main story locations (and A LOT of polish). Pretty sure this experimental build was for the Precursor update, the first update I was there to see come together completely from scratch, graybox prototypes and all, thanks in huge part to having just recently discovered your content!
I have memories of watching Subnautica content from all the way back in early 2015, but this is when I REALLY started following the game, so I remember this era pretty fondly. As an aside, thank you for contributing to igniting my genuine interest in game development. Wouldn't be where I am now (which is still not far, but at least I have ambitions)! Good luck on CotV!

Just think of it. Subnautica is 10 years old right now. But its still a great game with good graphics and so on. And of course the epic music.
I am currently playing through the entire game again and having played it wayyyy back in 2014-2015, this game sure has come a long way. Those old days were so fun when people were just screwing around with the terraformer together with the entity gallery looking at unreleased stuff. Good times!
This is so nostalgic. I first played this game back in October of 2016 so this was cool to see. Great trip down memory lane.
I miss the terraforming too, but only because the placement collision is such huge unforgiving boxes around each piece.
Now the eclipse and night darkness of some biomes, that is really a loss.
This brings me back.

Hey Aci I have two really good ideas for call of the void: if you plant crops in the hydra it helps out with the air supply is number 1. Number 2 is that the drooping stingers are harvestable and can be planted on a basepiece for base defense like if a creature attacks that basepiece it will become poisoned.
I discovered subnautica around June 2016 so i grew up with this version! Good old days ❤
6:20 You can actually use the steam console to download any version of subnautica, if that version was on a public branch. I used it to replay an old version back when the void had a floor.

I remember playing a version similar to this one in 2016-17 on Xbox, when i saw the Hellhole, i got nostalgia overload 😂
I actually think the gargantuan skull looks cooler on its side. Looks more like a dead creature than just a prop and you can see the jaw much better.
I also believe there was an entrance directly to the lava zone from the dunes. I would love to see that, as well as the unassigned biome areas like where the crag fields would go

I was a bit late to the dev builds (like one or two big updates behind 1.0) it was fun speculating and cheating into precursor bases we didnt had access to like the sea empress facility etc to explore and more ^^, also the hellhole was my first way into the lava zone ^^ loved the way you were forced to use the scanner mode to navigate yourself through pitch black

yeah you should've played an even earlier version because the one you played is too close to released Subnautica, missing mostly endgame stuff.
i remember a lot of biomes around Safe Shallows being completely empty. i also remember an update to the lava zone. it was exciting to go there but it was as well empty of everything, even lava, with just carved out area. it was exciting knowing one day it'll be fully detailed.
i also prefer the Exosuit instead of PRAWN.
there's also a mod that allows you to build into terrain so terrain terraforming when building bases is sort of back.
i prefer the "probability of dying/surviving" rather than Craig McGill's life story. it was shorter and gave you "realistic" odds which is all a survivor cares about. when you play Subnautica today in creative it takes a WHILE for the PDA to shut up and Craig McGill story definitely doesn't make it any shorter.
the one thing i absolutely LOVE about early access and would love for someone to mod back into Subnautica is the original Emperor sound that didn't sound like an elf woman. it's an Emperor, not am Empress, and even more so all creatures are asexual so having any gender voice is pointless. and because it's in our heads words are unnecessary. our guy knows what the Emperor is saying and for the player all you need is subtitles to convey to us what that is. when we read it or anything in real life we don't hear our own voice inside our heads speaking as we're reading it. no, we know what it means because big-brain-smart and so should our character. i also don't need the philosophical monolog about grain of sand. i always mute whenever the Emperor "speaks" to me. i really want the OG Emperor sound back in game, you have no idea how badly.
