    i'm used to programming an Ensoniq SQ1 so this should be a breeze. To all those complaining about having to go into menu to edit the sounds, that's part of owning a synthesizer. To get the best out of it you have to dive deep into it. I wouldn't buy any other synth at the moment, this is definately the most powerful sound you can get. Check out that electric guitar lead \m/

    While I admit this Jupiter seems to have a good sound, at times, and can apparently be programmed to create unique sound design, I have found the more I look into this machine, the less I want one. It seems like a pain in the ass to quickly get into it, as the interface isn't intuitive at all. Having access to filters and envelopes is nice, and okay, there's a deep arpeggiator there, but then it's menus, diving to more menus, shift buttons, scrolling through menus on a small screen, then another menu, wait, I should be hitting a button, no wait, I need to shift and hit the botton...
    I've owned a LOT of synths in my life. Some, like a Pro-One, were crazy easy to program and truly inspiring. Others like a DX7, or "worse", a Kurzweil K2600, had an amazing sound engine, but a manual twice as thick as the Bible, and took a week to program a single sound. I hate to say this, but the Jupiter-X, despite (still) _looking_ like a Jupiter, fits much more into the category of the Kurzweil (and Yamaha's FM synths, and the Roland DX series, throw in the Wavestation AD, and every other Korg and Yamaha Motif or Montage synth in the last 15 years, plus the Fantoms) which compel you to just use the system like a VST to play presets you may slightly alter because it's too much of a time-consuming headache to do more.
    Roland either needs to just stop being obstinate and re-release a new Jupiter-8, which everyone has been begging for, akin to what Sequential and their new Prophets, and now Oberheim has done with the mind-blowing OB-X8. Or give us a new V-Synth perhaps. The last truly inspiring programmer's synth they've made.

    A cool feature would be a 4-5 button pedal that has the same lights as the part selector so when you’re playing Live you can add parts hands off. As well I think an update should include simple arpeggios in the “type” wheel instead of the complicated form of going into the menu for this.

    This is the first synthesizer that I have bought in nearly 20yrs that I have chosen to keep. The last synth was my Alesis Ion back in 2003, still have it as well. Everything else digital was resold shortly after purchase. There are a few things that I wish it had though, a better Hammond organ with Leslie effect, better drum section that has more rock type kits, linn drum type kits and patterns that are editable. A Juno 60 model bank. I am hoping some of this appears in future updates. It's definitely a keeper. The distortion in this video is horrible.

    There is no import and export on the editor for tones and scenes, you can edit or setup your system or general
    Settings either.

  • @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene

    There is something horribly wrong with the sound quality of the JupiterX recording....or the JupiterX is not functioning correctly. I am monitoring on my system that I listen to all CZcams videos on, I have checked my system with my own video uploads and my system is function perfectly. I think someone just peaked all the levels, that's what it sounds like, distortion from overloading preamps and input levels of the recorder. IF you check the CZcams stats on this uploaded video, you will find you recorded to loud, probably using compression or limiting, and so CZcams had to automatically use their compressor or limiter on your video, CZcams subtracted a minimum of 2.1 db into what they are calling "normalization" to lower the volume levels of your video.

      The audio quality was dreadful in places, I agree. But possibly forgivable because it was a live-stream.

    This is a sound design instrument isn't it? Are only preset playing hobbyists buying this? I want a JD800, 4partial editing with front panel control, the only synth you ever offered with tactile control over the 4partial PCM....but I am not buying some old piece of junk, and Roland won't make a modern version of it.....SO.....maybe, I thought, the JupiterX was Roland's answer. Tactile control in Jupiter8 configuration...how does that function with 4partialPCMs, like the 8 stage envelopes? Can I finally edit PCM with these controls? And are you going to disable some controls like you did with System8 when editing SH01? Why not give us the option of using those extra controls like the amp/filter envelop on the JupiterX...maybe you did, I don't know, been researching the JupiterX for a year, tough getting answers, and NO ONE is demonstrating 4partialPCM on the JupiterX!
    I don't know maybe you just want to sell these Flagship models to beginners? What about sound designers like me, 50 year musician with recording studio experience of 30 years and sound design of 30 years? Why are you demoing this JupiterX like it is a preset rompler? I waited for sound design section, but the distorted recording is burning my ears, had to stop.

    People complain about the sterile, and lack of, Grand Pianos in the RD bank. Why on earth would someone purchase a Jupiter X only to take it out on cocktail-piano engagements?!

    • @BinuralOdyssey
      @BinuralOdyssey Před 5 měsíci +1

      Lol. Slightly guilty. I have played guitar for over 25 years. I also started getting into synths a couple years ago, all moog semi modular. I wanted a digital synth that could fill my late 70's into 80's needs. I also wanted to lean traditional piano for cocktail engagements. I figured this was the all-in-one that could fit this bill. Fortunately, the editor can be used to build the pianos a bit. The thing is, if their are going to market the RD as a selling point, don't give us "just the tip". Even with the expansions on Roland Cloud, it's still a weak presence and it doesn't have to be.

      @@BinuralOdyssey I still find it very difficult to find a synth which will do everything. I don't think there is one? I would say that my Nord Electro 6D does 50% of what I need, so that's at least something.

    • @BinuralOdyssey
      @BinuralOdyssey Před 5 měsíci +1

      I agree, I dont think there is a stand-alone that does it all, but they definitely are getting closer, especially in the last 20 years.
      Love the Nord. Maybe someday...
