Her sense of rhythm is insane..
I heard many of the best pianists of the 20th Century, including Richter, Gilels, Pollini, Brendel, and personally I would count Pletnev amongst that number, I heard Larocha three times and she was on the very highest level and comparable with any of them, and had the additional charm of being entirely unique and playing lots of repertoire that hardly anyone else touched. She never entered competitions but just slowly developed her art in Spain and her career didn't really start till she was 30. She said "I never lifted a single finger for fame, I just played the piano". A great pianist and a great person and a great teacher.
Brava .. the Finest performer in the 20th century
BRUTAL
Spanish music spirit.... 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wonderfully performed. Thanks for the share
Fabulous. This piece is very difficult. Here delivered with perfect clarity, accents, spirit, everything!
Her all-Falla recording on London/Decca is one of my favorite piano recordings of all time...This encore is from "El Armour Brujo"...and it was one of her favorite encore pieces, having heard her play it at several of her recitals.
I have the de Falla set on London/Decca and your point is well taken. De la Rocha's account of NIGHTS IN THE GARDENS OF SPAIN, from the same time period as this performance, is beautifully played, both by de la Rocha and by the orchestra.
Oh, I'm so glad I found this video by accident. Now I know a wonderful pianist and discovered Manul de Falla! Bravo Alicia de Larrocha👏
I liked this piece so much, I would like to learn it, but I can't find the notes. I am a Russian pianist. I can't find notes on our websites and libraries. So please, if anyone has access to notes, please share it. Maybe on Spanish or English services they are in the public domain, then share the link. I will be very grateful to you. 🙏
