J Krishnamurti - The Real Revolution - 5. What is love?
What is the state of the mind that asks a question? Who is going to answer it? How does one find out what love is? Is love pleasure? Will the conscious mind find it out? If I make a conscious effort then I must have recognition of what it is.
To enquire, one must be free of belief, and therefore of fear. To find out what love is, one must enquire into the question of pleasure and desire. Thought gives desire continuity and vitality. This must be discovered actually for oneself. Is it possible to look at something extraordinarily beautiful and merely observe, without the interference of thought?
    The real revolution Series
These eight programmes were produced and broadcast in America by the National Educational Television Network. They represent the earliest sound films of Krishnamurti speaking to audiences - it was the first time that he had allowed his talks and discussion groups to be filmed. The principle settings are the Oak Grove in Ojai, California, and the Thacher School in the Ojai Valley.

They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'

Perhaps in order to find love, there´s no need to work hard about love. Every hard work creates a pattern in the mind, brought by thought, which avoids the discovery. One must acquire love totally in one single take or not at all. In deep meditation, when the self ( not ego ) observes everything, and everything becomes the observer, suddenly all pieces are placed together and everything becomes clear: Love, desire, fear, pleasure. If you understand one, you understand all. If there´s fear, there´s pleasure, and a pattern. When there is a pattern, there is no love, because love is total freedom. So, when there is love, there is no fear.

This man, whom I fondly referred to as Krishnaji has miraculously led to "the flowering of one's mind", quoted in his own words. His teachings take life of its own if one is at all serious in understanding oneself & the world in which one is caught. The teachings clarify every day challenges that come in one's way, thus helps one to get by with a cheerful smile. He says that the ending of conflict is the beginning of freedom. In contemplating this, one becomes aware that the psychological self which one has mistaken for one's identity is the centre of conflict; it is made of mental stuff only - and the seeing of this fact by itself ends the identification with it. With that there is freedom, as he says "the mind can only flower in freedom". In that complete freedom, all his teachings become crystal clear to the mind. That's how he has helped transformed my mind. His life was a testimony of selfless service, his teachings are par excellence. Truly, J. Krishnamurti lived in Truth & Love. My humble bow...

His interview with Jonas Salk was somewhat more joyful but he does often come across as contemptuous. When people responded he often said 'Go slowly! Think first!' but when they didn't he said 'We are here together to talk! Not just listen!'
But few people made 'not following anyone' as clear as he did!

Krishnamurti was saying that people just want to have the suffering abolished, the challenges lifted, the inconveniences gone, and it's true. It's the wistfulness of the lazy mind. People don't want to take responsibility.
It reminds me of a gnostic quotation: they love the fruit but hate the tree.
Another gnostic quotation that is relevant: unless you understand how the fire came to be, you will burn in it.
That deepening process towards consciousness is called meditation.

This space between thoughts is quite (there is no thought to listen to). Try to feel the wind on your face, feel it totally without any thought. Just be there completely. You will feel Love. He never answered the question. But brought about another question. Is it possible to know what love is without the thought interfering? You have experienced it before so it is through memory. So it is not possible to know it without thought. Only thing this talk is good for is that its bring the idea of self knowing. Observing own suffering (or other emotions) as a observer. I used to like his talks as I was young, but now I feel like they are meaningless because they are not concrete and very contradictory. For example, suffering is created though thought by self pity, so we should be in a state to where we accept it, so accept the thoughts that bring suffering or any other emotion. Emotions equal thought. So love is a thought, which in turn the observer observes, to which it want to react to because it bring about pleasure. Pleasure equals survival. The question is what mechanism is creating these emotions of survival. Is it our primitive biology, the elephant upon whom sits the rider (the one that reasons). When you ask who is the thinker, who asked that question? Is it something detached from the physical body? Would it exist if the body wasn't there? The one that is yours and the one that is mine, is it one or is it different?

Love, suffering, God etc can not be known by a conscious and a mind seeking it perhaps for pleasure etc because mind is restless and can't be totally focused to these dimensions because it is anxious to find it so not 100% in rest with that enegy/dimension which it has goal to find. Untill we have quiet mind which can become quiet only when wisdom arises(again it can't be achieved by agitated mind seeking a goal for wisdom!), that wisdom is the state of self knowing and it is the only one capable to know anything and everything with complete engagement with energies/ dimensions and not seeking pleasure etc at that time of it's engagement. To get a qualification to have this possibility of wisdom or self knowing, tremendous sensitivity, alertness, patience, persvereness, needed which is much more than required to earn livelihood. It is only for serious people who can work so much hard not in the aim of money or pleasure and is mentally( and obviously physically) capable enough to have this sharpness of mind.

I got so inexplicably infatuated with someone that he got scared of me. I was shocked and sad when that person whom I cried day and night for, insulted me in public. And yet my obsession with him would not go away.
Is it my jeevatma that is in throes to meet with the Paramatma that I mistake as my love for him because of Maya? Is it the element of perfection in him that makes me see the element of Paramatma in him?

The way one listens to j krishnamurti, should be with full involvement in finding out WITH him, and not as he points out "waiting for him to answer." It is more of enquiry with the company of a friend. It is a more active process, a more individualized process. I realise I am already creating a method throught finding this, why am I doing it?

At 9:30 there is mention of right eating and behavior, there is little mention of this in the teachings as far as I've been able to look into.
I don't know how it would be possible for right eating and behavior to happen without effort, I've tried to look into it but with no succes.
Then what is right behavior? what is right and wrong eating? Are these prerequisites for everything else ?

Are truth and knowledge related to each other? To discover or come upon the truth about something it is necessary to discard all knowledge related to that something. And, if this is so, how can truth and knowledge be related to each other? Only when the known has been discarded can there be love.

it seems that questioners in this video could not answer fully the meaning Suffering ( in Buddhism) when JK asked them. There are ways to make oneself understand what is suffering and what is the meaning of relieve from suffering in Buddhism. It would need a long explanations to understand . What JK explained here is also a way to understand and know what is suffering and what is not suffering.

Also, the act of awareness is a revelator in and of itself......

THE SIOUX NATION of north America "it is pronounced SUE" , have a saying for men using big world out of content, and understanding of others, and it goes like this,"" A man who talks a lot and says nothing"".
If one can teach my friend or a listener, the filling of ""giving a hand to the fallen"" and that man can Feel what i Feel, then i give a job to that teacher to straiten out all the criminals in all the prisons in all the world.
All i am saying that human emotions are beyond description, specially as one gets older and have not achieved it when was a child and to give it a try in childhood, it will be close to the infinity of power of 5.

      Hi Tony,
What I'm trying to express is that you can't put spiritual realities into language...you can only approximate. The brain is material, our essence is not. The brain/body is an interface that's all.
      Have a good day!
