Education in the US is indeed big business. From elementary school and beyond, where high scores on standardized = bigger funding. And those wanting to be professionals have to pay for the privilege and again to set testing standards. It's a shame, but out reality. Good luck on your medical journey. I love your " beyond the classroom" lessons. We need more doctors like you.

I’m a M3 and completely agree. Thank you for verbalizing something that I have long felt since beginning this journey. I’m a non-traditional medical student so having 5+ years post undergrad of actual patient care and scribing experience is helpful in understanding the system of medicine prior to beginning. But, that’s my experience and could of course vary.

I completely agree with you. If it weren’t a business they wouldn’t have you taking liberal studies and unnecessary electives in college. everyone would just focus on their core class and maybe some type of hands on internships and experiences to prepare for whatever career you choose.
Plus they wouldn’t charge you more for wanting to take more than 120 credits. Our education from 3rd grade and on has been to prepare us for some standardized test. It’s honestly sad when you take a exam and a few hours later you can’t even remember any of the information because you just crammed as much into your head for the test.
I took A&P 1 because I was thinking of PA school and I kept questioning why premeds aren’t required to take anatomy because it so much more relevant and honestly I really enjoyed the class.

Ya it’s super frustrating but there is so much money that goes into making doctors that it would take a miracle to change anything

i mean I wouldnt say EVERYTHING on the MCAT is not relevant. Bio and biochem seem like decently relevant disciplines.
