What program did you apply to?

I failed last year and had to repeat. Just had the mid year exam, and it was AWFUL. They ask the most random questions. Like more than 50 percent is rogue stuff that we've not even learned or was mentioned once. Things we were told not to worry aboout. I feel like my school constantly sets us up to fail. We only have mid year and end of year exams. If you fail, you repeat. There's no resits. It's so hard. I hate it. I wish we had block exams like you had. God. I would kill for block exams. It would definitely take some of the pressure off, especially as a repeating student. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Haha

Do you know where I can find a link to all the special masters programs that are 1yr long (DO specifically) that have a linkage to their COM?

I am about 4 years to the video! But I had a question, do med schools look at masters? If I had a bad undergrad GPA and a good master's GPA, would they be considered separate or averaged or considered at all?

I wonder if the algorithm understands deep enough to consider your performance in medical school and then avoids matching great students to subpar residency programs? If that makes sense?

You're so blessed to have a loving wife that is happy to go with you and leave her parents\family. I've known so many in general life that refuse. Not meaning just doctors but in any occupation.

I went to then UMKC for my Bachelors back in the early to mid 90's. Never thought I'd see it represented on CZcams. Just awesome! Thank you Dr. Mazur. It seems like so many doctors and attorneys in KC went there. Must have been tough, if you are a Bronco's fan in the heart of Chief's country. 😄

Non-trad here, I completely agree that making strong connections count for so much. It helps you navigate through this challenging path. I've been scribing for nearly a year, and getting work side by side with an incredible orthopedic surgeon has provided me with so much understanding at different levels!

This was such a reassuring video to hear! My son just completed his 3rd and final MCAT, has the same masters degree you do. He will start his applications on May 1st. As a parent, it’s hard to watch you kid pour his heart and soul into this path only to be defeated by a ridiculous test. Thank you so much for this informative video. I actually opted for a post bacc with a linkage and currently finishing in finals and the MCAT. Honestly it’s paid off extremely well for me that my chances of getting into medical school in the United States are much higher - previous students who did the post bacc that got into medical school said it was a great help for them. I can confirm this having watched your video on this topic before and after doing a post bacc.

I am a newly admitted DO student. I plan on taking the COMLEX and USMLE. I have been watching many videos on strategies and the reason is because I struggled with the MCAT. If I had the time to study for the MCAT, I would have done more practice questions. I intend to start preparing for COMLEX and USMLE after my first semester. I will do 20-30 questions daily and continue to build on them. Even though I plan to specialize in internal medicine, I will prepare as if I am planning to specialize in Plastic Surgery.

I’m a M3 and completely agree. Thank you for verbalizing something that I have long felt since beginning this journey. I’m a non-traditional medical student so having 5+ years post undergrad of actual patient care and scribing experience is helpful in understanding the system of medicine prior to beginning. But, that’s my experience and could of course vary.
