- The 312 B3-74 was Ferrari's weapon for the 1974 (and a couple of 1975 races) Formula 1 season. It was driven by Clay Ragazzoni and Niki Lauda and it was able to achieve 3 victories, 11 pole positions and 6 fastest laps out of 17 races it took part. Even if it has kept the B3 denomination of the 1973, the B3-74 had a very different design: in fact it was a flat and wide car, with side radiators, full width front wing and a high, showy air intake above the rollbar. Almost every other cars of the rivals were narrow and high but the design choice proved to be very good as the new Ferrari was able to better exploit the aerodynamic effect in search of greater downforce. It was powered by the Ferrari Tipo 001 engine which was a 3-liter flat-12 used in a total of eleven F1 seasons (from 1970 to 1980) and improved over the years in 5 different versions. The one used in the B3-74 is the fourth evolution and it's called Tipo 001/12 which was able to produce around 495 hp at 12,600 rpm on a car which weighed approx 590 kg.
The car in this video is chassis 312B3/014 which was a new B3-74 chassis fielded in 7 rounds of the '74 season, driven by Clay Ragazzoni and in just one by Niki Lauda. It was used again by Ragazzoni in the first two races of the 1975 season. Watch it in action around Imola circuit for a few 'parade' demo laps, driven by former Italian F1 driver Alex Caffi (red/yellow helmet) and Franco Meiners (light blue helmet), during the 2017 Historic Minardi Day.

I can't imagine the noise that a large number of these must have generated on a race day back in the 1970s... ;))))
Well it was impressive to say the least. Often you would return home with your ears hissing.
You have to remember though that two cars going past you at the same time does not give twice the decibels. Sound doesn't work like that. Yes, more cars = more noise but you can't just multiply the decibels each car creates by the number of cars. If that were true anyone who went anywhere near a race would be deafened instantly and permanently.
That said, in the days of naturally aspirated engines the first thing a newbie spectator would comment on after the session or race wasn't the speed. It was the noise.....
Check out F1 Masters racing series. They came to Canada in 2017... all 70s era f1 cars and they race them like its the 70s. Its absolutely breathtaking. They make their rounds globally at various events.
The goosebumps thinkin about it....
The mid 70s was my favourite era, but only two of the cars had this sound. Most of the grid was V8 Cosworth DFVs
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Mayson Davis instablaster =)
2:25 Wow! The tachometer starts at 4000rpm!!!
I know!
Didn't realize how loud it was, you can just hear the v10 over the 312
This is my all time favorite formula 1 car
I remember vc lauda and regazzoni driving this Ferrari. Great stuff.
You had my attention at “flat 12”.
I can already hear him
"it understeers like crazy and it's weight distribution is a Desaster"
It's amazing, all these facilities and you make a piece of crap like this
I just ended a race on assetto corsa with the Ferrari 312t on imola and now you upload this 🤣🤣
Asseto really nailed the sound
Amazing the sound the power of this 12 cilinder Ferrari 312
There better not be any dislikes so when I come back and check this video again
I'm sure they will come soon.. I'm still waiting for the real F1 drivers who complain about the slow driving and how they change gears in this video
@@19Bozzy92 I'm liking the segmented chapters you've added is this a new youtube feature?
Oh wow the onboard footage is so great! Good work! 😃
Sounds amazing, thank you!!
Che bella che era questa macchina non solo il motore. Anche se la T1 di poco differente era la più bella in assoluto!
What a beautiful sound!
Wow just wow awesome again Bozzy 👍
Great times, I was lucky to see Lauda/Regazzoni duo !
Video stupendo!!!!! Grazie!!!
🌟🏁 Nice work thanks 🏁👍
Legendary!
Wow Formula 1 in the 70s sounds brutal
Best Sound listened at Monaco in the City with reverb
A Emoção,muita Emoção este Carro é Cinematográfico,os Aplausos muitos Aplausos .
Spettacolare!!!
beauty
Best Sounding F1 Car❤
Gotta lose that Apple Watch though for a TAG Monza....
Woulda been nice to see it higher in the revs but still an awesome showcase
If we could at least replace these with the newer f1 engines that would be awesome! Great recordings bozzy! 👏 This just brings back the classic f1 spirit
Did you mean vice versa?
There's a Racing simulator called raceroom that has a modern lookig fórmula car with a v10, it's called formula raceroom x-17
This is a great channel and one of my favorite parts of it is the absence of a stupid fucking channel intro or trailer that everyone puts on their Chanels and everyone has to fast forward past because we don’t care
😍
8:28...superato da un missile
👍👍👍
👍❤👍
Back in 2017.
W hats that other white pipe beside the exhaust pipe?
Lengthy onboard shots now ehh. Let's get a microphone pointed at either the intake or exhaust and we have a winner.
that car looks so smol and cute like a baby
👌👌👌👌👌💕💕💕
I wonder if it has a flat plane crank or cross plane crank
0:18 that tyre is definitely not old
Perché i cordoli delle curve sono della bandiera italiana al contrario?
Why is he short shifting?
Sounds similar with V6 nowadays...
9 people dislike this video becaus it killed their speakers.
0:20 what is he spraying in those intake?
A special disinfectant anti-CoVid19.
@@LucaScarpellini3d lol
Troppo porno 😍🔥
Amazing sound !
But It looks very scary to drive. and he is not even pushing it and the car slides anyway
Very unstable and very careful on the trothle sorry for my english i stoped drive the 70s f1 in f1 game codemaster 🤣😂but the look are beast !!!
no room in the cockpit except for the balls of the driver.....
Imagine if in 2021 we went back to manual shifting in F1, be a lot more skill involved then and much more entertaining to watch.
Dead right. In the glorious past one of the defining qualities which separated the racing driver gods from mere mortals was the ability to change gear precisely. Races were won and lost on missed gear changes. After Monaco 1971 Jackie Stewart's right palm looked like raw steak when he peeled off his glove. Anyone can operate buttons and paddles.
great sound but not mesmerizing as the melody of a Matra V12
Sounds similar to how a modern V6 would if it was NA.
le marce vanno tirate di più
Karts com 1000 cavalos.
Only if they were street legal...smh tesla
Seriously short shifting though...
Demo runs of a very expensive car....Engine rebuilt must cost two arms and two legs !
@@michellevesque2130yes only Ferrari has prints of the car and can forge parts for it. Every part would be custom made for that car. A big crash could cost tens of thousands for the parts alone.
2020 F1 cars sound rubbish compared to this. If only there was a way to get these engines back in F1 but with better reliability. I can only dream.
I don't hate modern F1, but man, why MGU-H is still there:/
hahhaha this looks like a toy xD
Queste erano le macchine da corsa: volante, cambio e pedali. Il resto doveva mettercelo il pilota, punto. Non andavano dritte nemmeno sui rettifili, altro che cassi.
The driver is not great :/ don't buy these masterpieces if you're not using all of their power...
He is not a professional driver. This is a test run. The car is worth a fortune. Running a car like this at full tilt is for the likes of Lauda. Do you have any idea how hard it is to drive these cars even at 7 tenths? Just be happy it is running at all.
Guys pls take the movies in 4K and not in 1080 trash..thx
Ungrateful pr1ck
