Today I talk about the Galion TS A75 Power Amp for two channel stereo music listening. This amp is claimed by Thomas of Galion as a GUANT KILLER. This means that this amps claim to fame is that it can hang or even best high dollar amps.
I have heard amps all the way up to $20k so is it true that the more you pay the better the gear sounds?
This amp comes in at only $1500 so can it really compete with amps from others such as Audio Research, Pass Labs and other high end pieces?
Find out in my video review! I also talk about our recent cicada invasion which is also crazy!
Enjoy!

Thomas and Galion are doing some very interesting things at affordable prices.
For sure100%
Just received my TS A75 yesterday it’s been running continuously for about 24 hrs now. Everything you say in your review is spot on true. Especially with regard to bass performance it really does bring out incredible detail in recordings of upright bass or bass guitar. I’m glad to see your review lines up with my impressions.
Got mine yesterday too and left it playing overnight, loving it so far!
What preamp?
@@hifipi3.14 you too bro what preamp?
I’m using a Gustard Pre26 with Burson opamps, Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, and Buchardt S400 mkIIs.
Why would you leave it Playing all night? I’m sure the amp was tested out at the factory so it’s already been powered on and shut off at least a couple times before you got it
Another great review ourkidd ❤❤❤
One year parts and labour warranty isn’t going to cut it. If the manufacturer won’t stand behind their product then why would I buy it?
Great vid. What is the timing like, does it sound fast or slower? My experience with some other amps that with similar power rating, ie 100w into 8 but nowhere near double i to 4, was that it sounded slow. Cheeeers.
I ❤ Audio Research! All of the Ref series amps are the crème de la crème of their full repertoire amplifiers.
Really considering this one. Been following all the reviews on it! Another special “hits way above its price” offering that is gaining interest is the Nilai dual 500 diy kit. Alpha Audio has been praising it as getting close to the refinement of pass lab amps. But it’s class D. Would love for you to have one of those in to review 🙏🏼
Are you planning to review the schiit Aegir2?
I just received mine today 😍 I’ve not put it into my setup yet but probably will tomorrow,
Congrats please tell us how it goes and what do you think of it?
So, are you happy? Is it ok?
Congrats! 👍
'Imho' Great Job on the Review you nailed it !!
Your review was fantastic too.
@ThomasAndStereo Thanks Thomas '
Many years ago I had B&K EX 442 paired with matching Pro 10... it had a great tubelike sound too... I think the toshiba mosfet output stage gave it that sound... does this amplifier has mosfet output stage? Very exciting to see a gem at attainable pricing! Thanks for review!
It is BJT, I do have a Moffett one developed but not budget.
How does it compare to a Parasound Halo A21+? Product of the Decade? That’s a strong statement.
It’s a double brood year for Cicada’s this time which is why you’re seeing so many. I forget exactly which two broods but be prepared to turn your stereo up a little louder than usual lol
Verum 2 review, please!!! 😎
Have this amp and ain't looking back
are vocals recesed in the soundstage? a bit further from listener? if so, is it dramatic difference compared to flat playing amp?
If you had to choose between this one and Thomas' tube amp TS120, which would you choose?
We are at the beginning of a new golden age of High Fidelity Sound.
Just wondering about the low impedance drive capability? I have Magnepan LRS+ along with Kef LS50 META which demand high current drive amps. It used to be said that if you want to drive a Magnepan or difficult loads, the 8 ohm rms power output of an amp should double into 4 ohms. This amp's 4 ohm power output is only 33% more than at 8 ohm. 75wpc @8ohm, 100wpc @4ohm. This gives the impression it won't be happy with 3 or 4 ohm speakers. Any thoughts on this? Thx.
As I write this, I’m listening to this amp driving my LRS+ in my bedroom system.
It is a match made in heaven.
It will shock you how well the TS A75 will drive those 2 speakers. The amp has 200k capacitance instead of the typical 40k capacitance for a reason.
I wonder how it compares to the benchmark amp ? I was thinking of downsizing from those running as monoblocks.
My fosi za3 Class d 240 watts mono is really 75 watts vs 75 watt class ab in terms of actual db heard in practice.
The fosi ZA3 is actually more like 25-35 w with acceptable listening distortion. They are playing the old car stereo numbers games
My stereo music is my Yamaha AVR playing in Pure Direct mode. How would you use this and not loose the AVR surround I use for movies? Thanks for any help!
Run preouts to this amp. Use Yamaha’s for surrounds
Get in some First Watts. Thanks
whould love a monoblock version of these. looks promesing otherwise, whould be fun to compare to my vincent rigg.
Yes and perhaps a SE version a little later.
Would also like to know about a Vincent comparison!
So will you keep this amp? :))
I am MOST intrigued by the design of this thing. Can it drive a mid size full range speaker is what I wonder.
Yep, remember what? Thomas said. This is a current design amplifier not a voltage designed one. There is a difference.
Easily.
@@ThomasAndStereo Truly impressive then, well done sir, well done indeed!
Will there be a monoblock version coming out i wonder? I would be very interested in owning a pair
Love the price point. Anyone have an idea how it would pair w/ a 40-year-old pair of first-generation (I believe) Thiel CS2's?
Wow I remember them from what I remember. I think it would be great.
That's a tough one to drive!
How about current? Is it high current? Will it run Maggie’s properly?
I too am wondering how well it can power maggies.
Probably the smaller ones for sure, but I don’t expect it to drive the larger ones
I just got this amp to drive my LRS+ in my bedroom system mainly used for home theater.
No issues driving the LRS#!
@@stuartboros7693 Thanks for the info.
Thomas it has now the Navy hybrid preamp ( think is an hybrid ,not a pure tube design , tough not sure) ,
I don’t now if it is already on the market , so….we have to wait for a review
The TS Navy preamp is a tube preamp. The preamp is still not ready yet as I am still fine tuning it.
@@ThomasAndStereoimho tube preamp with a solid state amp is the best . Can’t wait to hear your combo
@@MrBonger88 exactly my feelings
I just purchased the TS A75 yesterday. Will wait for the preamp, too.
Do you think it would be able to drive the magnepan lrs at low/med volume?
I drove the Magnepan 0.7i with no problem.
Thanks Thomas I am trying to decide between the denafrips thallo and the ts a75 to go with my hestia preamp. I thought your amp has similarities with the hegel which has high current/damping factor which would match the lrs even with the lower watts. Am i correct to assume this similarities?@@ThomasAndStereo
For some reason your videos doesn't show up on my subscription page
Looks like you get a few storms there, what are you using for a surge protector…I am thinking power conditioning degrades the sound..maybe something that’s surge protector only…..haven’t noticed any reviewers telling us about power protectors
Furman is a very respectfully brand in that area. Check AC-210 or AC-215
@@tomdebeck8150 looking for something that doesn’t have power conditioning just surge protection….from what I have read the amp, preamp and other components change the AC to DC just fine and screws up the sound
Sounds like combined with a Freya + it would be a bargain separates setup. Better yet. For about $2K a used Rogue RP5 tube hybrid preamp would be my choice
75 Quality watts is enough for most.
tuneful? what the heck is that supposed to mean?
As opposed to one note Johnny. No bloated bass.
Thomas, please send one to Audioscience review, would be very interesting to see those results too.
Send it to SkunkieDesigns for a detailed honest teardown.
Galion or Brunoco?
It boggles my mind why SO many amps have dual inputs on the back (Bal & Unbal), but put the switches on the back too. What a wasted opportunity!! I have the same situation with my $5k Bryston. I'd love to be able to switch inputs from the front and easily switch between two different sources. With so many streamer and DAC options now that have integrated volume control, I'd love to go direct to the amp, bypassing my preamp.
The switches on the back are pretty logic : shortest way .
I hope Thomas does a couple of monoblocks.
Is it a true balanced amplifier?
Yes, it is true balanced.
Is there such a thing as an un-true balanced amp? Either it is or it isn't.
@@TriAmpHiFi yes there is. There are plenty amps especially vintage ones that have XLR style connections and are not balanced.
@@TriAmpHiFiI technically could have not use the word "true", and just asked if it was balanced. But I wanted to say it this way, as to not confuse anyone what I was getting at.
I actually own a Kinki ex-m1 amplifier that has XLR, but it is not balanced. So basically, it has a built-in XLR to single-ended converter.
@@mikehuntington4440 .
I see. So you make up the technical term "True Balanced" amplifier so as not to confuse any one. Makes sense. Got it.
A Kinki ex-m1? So you're citing an unbalanced amp as evidence that un-true balanced amps exist? I stand by my statement. Either it is or it isn't.
I am very sceptical that it has enough power for big speakers? 75 watt seems like half of what it needs. And why is it not able to use as mono?
It is not just about watts. A 75 watt class D amp struggles with high impedances, a 75 watt A/B with a much higher current drives them easily.
Have you ever tried out a proper class A amp? 2*50 w from that and you will wonder why you believe you need so many watts 😊. It's about having enough current behind the watts
At the pic, there is only one toroidal transformer.
I believe there are two stacked on top of each other
🫵😎👍
It’s just an amplifier? No preamp section 😢
Power amp only.
You can control volume digitally for free or get a passive preamp which is inexpensive.
It is a power amp but given 99% of the DAC today has a volume control, you can use that both as a source and preamp.
@@ThomasAndStereo please make a matching preamp that complements this amplifier the TSa 75 come on Thomas. I really love this amplifier and want to purchase it, but I want to matching preamp with the same quality and synergy, especially❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice if they had dealers so you could see and hear one. This online only is terrible for audio guys..no thanks
Sadly, the price would need to double for dealer margin if I had dealers Instead, it was a better model for customers for them to try at home.
I'm a sucker for non-black electronics 🥲
