The L88 Vette was tested by CC mag. back in the day They ran the numbers and est the output somewhere in the 560hp range, stock. We already know factory Hemi's with solid cams will easily make over 500hp. It amazes me that both drivers got off the line so cleanly on those crap tires. Great ET's!

BEWARE of buying original 426 Hemi's nowadays.........even if they've already been "rebuilt". Nearly all of those old Hemi's have been raced hard, beat on, and modified or doctored up countless times, in so many weird & desperate ways, you usually wind up buying a total lemon. I'm not even kidding. Mismatched caps off of another engine in the rotating assembly, and that's just scratching the surface. Don't believe it? Just ask Tony of Uncle Tony's Garage youtube channel. He's a total Mopar guy, and he built & raced nothing BUT Hemi's back in the day. He warns everyone: STEER CLEAR of the old Hemi's............you'll wind up with some weird shit that is UN-FIXABLE. If the L88 didn't have headers that were open, it was handicapped more than most people know. Large port heads would not be good with cast iron exhaust manifolds. Slicks were also allowed. Those two things would make a tremendous difference at a drag strip. Seems like they are always compared without them. I read an article years ago about Zora Duntov taking a '69 L88 to a drag strip with headers and slicks, and 100% stock and made one pass at 10.1.

@@badass6.0powerstroke10 i have read description but believe the the description is wrong. Cannot fathom these cars are adhering to the Pure Stock rules but yes to the modified rules.
