- Hello guys! Today I'm showing you how to paint up a Tabletop ready Thousand Sons unit. This is a TT level commission that Ill be painting to match his existing Rubric Marines. Ill be going a little further than what he sent with some additional highlights and shading but the main color blocking will remain the same. Its always interesting to try to match an existing color scheme. This one took me a couple tries to find a good base color, but once I had the recipe fine tuned it was off to the races.
Feel free to put any questions or comments in and Ill get back to you.
Sit back and enjoy the show!

Let me know if you see whats off a bit with the sorcerer, Im interested to see if its noticable.
You mean the staff? its a bit bended, beyond that i think its great and it looks great! more videos like this for the thousand sons!!
Thanks for subbing! It is a bit, but the biggest thing is the plasma pistol is a right hand and the left 😁
Hopefully I'll have some more coming in the future, the owner was happy with them.
@@OriginPainting It goes on the sorcerer for the god of change so I mean, it works lore wise.
I like how the models pop out! It is a vet vibrant color scheme!
Thanks, I was really happy with how the scheme came out after a couple tests.
i hadnt considered using the same color from the armour on the tabards. looks much better than i would have thought
Thanks! It's definitely a good option. I was worried that adding more color would make it too busy.
Nice video, really clear explanations and crisp footage. great work
Thanks Rising! Anything specially, either a techniques or model you'd like to see in the future?
@@OriginPainting Not specifically no, I am always interested in seeing the ways people work up their paint jobs. I also enjoy seeing the way other youtubers put their videos together.
Amazing job!!!!
Thanks! They were a fun set to work on.
excellent job there. i'm painting my own thousand sons and i was wondering what red did you use for the icon of flame. never done flames before and you red looks so bright.
I believe that I was using bold pyrole red from pro acry for it.
Other than him having a pistol, (which I cant remember if they can have or not) I can see anything wrong with the Sorcerer ..
These came out great as usual!!
Your right on it but it's not just that it's a pistol. And it's not the barrel 😉
they can take a plasma pistol like he gave him here but there's not one in the box. its crazy : \
can you use Retributor Armor Spray as a Primer
I haven't tried it myself but I would assume that you could. Most sprays bond really well with whatever they contact.
You’ve made a mistake with the white paint - it’s correct name is Titanium Hwite)
Okkkaaaayyyyyy 😋
Great clip!!! love how they turned out. Where did you get the turquoise wash by N- Paint Ink? Cant find it?
Thanks so much! The paint was part of a Kickstarter by Nocturna Models, N-Paint Acrylic Colors. It doesn't look like that set has made it to market though as it's not even on their web site.
@@OriginPainting bummer!!! What would you recommend as a replacement? I want to give your way a go, just love the end result.
I'll take a look around and try to find a suitable alternative. Off the top of my head I would say to buy a turquoise and add medium and flow improve, but I might be able to find a better answer.
I hate trim and highlighting because like you said you have to get the tone of the color you covered up right again,
Yeah, definitely a challenge. Taking the time to lay down a matte varnish can help, if you're patient enough to let it fully cure.
Def Subscribed this video is amazing. Can you give a link or recommendation on where to get that turquoise Ink. My google Fu is weak!
Your Google Fu is strong, the problem is that it was made by N Paint and they sold an ink set through a Kickstarter. As far as I can tell it hasn't made it to normal markets yet though. 😔
Hi, trying to find this turquoise ink somewhere online but without success. Where did you get yours?
I got mine through there Kickstarter. It was years ago and unfortunately I don't think it ever made it to market. If you contact them direct they may have a few ink sets still but I'm not sure.
@@OriginPainting yes, so it seems but thanks for confirming. Have a great one!
Can we get a list of the brands and paint colors in the comments?
Yeah, I'm really inconsistent in labeling my paints, sorry about that. I'll try to get you a list in the next couple days.
Having the tabards the same color as the armour makes the unit boring. Also you did the flames backwards. Flames are the brightest in the middle and darkest on the outside. I also dont agree to use nulnoil for the gold. But thats a taste of colors. Its your call.
Some fair points. I did the fire intentionally to try and frame the center harder. Making it bright inside and dark outside would be correct but I think it would lose some pop.
The hand being the wrong way round for the pistol would drive me insane 😂😂😂
Lol, one I saw it I couldn't un see it 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
@@OriginPainting I love your videos but I could only watch this one just the once.. my OCD kicked in 😭
I'll take your love, even if it's only once 😉
Hopefully I'll knock it out and crush that OCD next time.
