Thanks -- I'm curious about the Bosch IDS 2 but have a question about sizing: Currently, I have two single stage AC very old systems, both 2 tons, with one being a furnace and the other a heat strip for heat, . I want to replace both with a Bosch IDS 2 3 ton but baffled on what size the air handler should be? Should I match the air handler to the heat pump which would make them 3 tons even though what I currently have is a 2 ton, each zone cooling and heating 900 sq? I can see being oversized helping with heat but what about being oversized for cooling and that resulting in humidity?

Hey Mikey, loved your video. I am in the market to buy a new heat pump system which will replace my 30 year old hvac that came with the house. I am now leaning towards Bosch 2.0 after seeing this video.
How large was the home where you installed this 4-ton system ?
My home is 3375 sq ft two story home in bay area , ca built in 1994 and I am considering two 4-ton Bosch system , one for each zone. My old system was 5-ton each and the installer is recommending to stick to same capacity or go no lower than 4-ton. But based on some help from an online site who do Manual-J, it seems that even 4-ton will be more than what I need. Problem is that no contractor here offers to do Manual-J.
any guidance from you will be appreciated.

Nonsense- can’t extrapolate to to places like dc and Atlanta with even Long Island. And NB Bosch gets that hi seer rating by pushing the sensible load emphasis. Don’t get me wrong - thsi is a great unit in some respects- price, quiet, flexible t stat choice etc . Bosch is arguably the best choice in places like phoenix, but also arguably eclipsed by any decent fully communicating system in places like DC Atlanta, let alone Miami and New Orleans Houston. And let’s be honest, Bosch will sell to anyone, anyone, so chose your dealer carefully. E.g. Lennox really restricts who can sell their unit, carrier and daikin to some degree, but that means for consumer they are doing some screening before you get involved. And make sure your pricing is considerably less than a fully communicating unit from carrier, Lennox trane- like at least 1,000 dollars less, or what the point>summary- Bosch is ALWASY going to be an outstanding choice for climates without disproportionate latent loads, but is NEVER going to be the best choice with large latent loads, BY DESIGN !

You should never have to pay as much for a Bosch as you do for a fully communicating system. Bosch , a European country where humidity not an issue, til steers.their design to produce a hi seer rating to draw customers in-nothign wrong with that, just beware if you are in a climate to latent load . Daikin on the other hand, gets screwed with new seer ratings as they balance their design o ensure latent loads cna be handled well. This necessarily lowers serf rating as seer screws toward sensible loads in its rating system.

I've been an HVAC tech and installer for 25 years. And if there's one thing I can say with certainty it is do not buy a heat pump in the New England area.
shame on half of these salesman who do not properly inform the homeowner And also with that said to a large extent shame on the homeowner too for not doing the appropriate research.
But the salesman should make sure. The homeowner knows what they're purchasing. Its benefits and limitations.

These comments not inherently contradictory. Heat pumps are Great solutions even if you hate global warming.I. Teh right climates. Climate zones are ever changing. E0 yes ago woudl not have recommended any heat pump in mid Atlantic-now with no,off and warmer climate, they are easy recommend . Clealray would not recommend in Maine, Vermont, most New Hampshire, western mass, New York much above New York City. Mikey pipes in Long Island with a more temperate climate and getting warmer every year with global warming.probably will handle most winters . Also, if you get a Mitsubishi, ye s you cna certainly expand that climate range . And of course further south, makes little sense to do anything but a heat pump.

    Brandon Brown speaks out.
“I have no interest in leading some political fight. I race cars. I am not going to endorse anyone, and I am certainly not going to tell anyone how to vote but I’m also no longer going to be silent about the situation I find myself in and why millions of Americans are chanting my name. I hear them, even if Washington does not.”

What is bosch tech support number. Im having problems with a bosch i installed. And the tech guy that i call is not much help. It seems like at night time unit does not keep up. It gets to the mid 30s were im at. So it does not have heat strips because i was told dont need them. I just need another opinion on what it can be. Refrigerant is on point, new line set static preassure is fine. Unit is 1 year old.

Bosch been selling heat pumps it Europe for decade . they used Mitsubishi compressor and electronics here. If they use the same parts in US then you have you self a nice unit. Mitsubishi is the king or at least top 3 world wide.

50 percent capacity at -4, that is not a good product. you really need to oversize the equipment to get any heating performance at lower temps.
