    Great video Josh, safety first in farming, I used to work on a farm when I was young, didn't think about working on hills with a tractor with out even a roll bar fitted, I cringe now when I think about it 😕😕

    Good video Josh PTO guards are like all parts for machinery at minute very expensive is the fields your topping being farmed organic as an experiment as they're seems to be alot of weeds present 👍

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  Před 2 lety

      True! They are part of the river meadows that we dont spread any fertilsier on. They aren't organic for any specific reason, just sit wet and usually grow a lot of grass without the fert. They get dung from the midden.

  • @themeparkkieran4573
    @themeparkkieran4573 Před 2 lety +1

    PTO guards usally break on the chain clip as it's just a bit of plastic that weathers and goes weak over time and at 170 quid for a guard is alot of money no wonders they are usally left

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  Před 2 lety +1

      Yep! I dont get it why they are so expensive!

    Safety first Josh . Think dealers who sell equipment shout give the there kit a safety inspection before sale or they might do you will know. Had rain yesterday Saturday 19

    Interesting opinion about powershaft covers you made. I do agree that any dealer that is selling second hand equipment that has a powershaft should be selling it with a guard that is not damaged or broken. If someone sold you a piece of equipment that is potentially a safety issue and someone has an accident could the liability come back on the seller?

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  Před 2 lety +1

      It's a very grey area isn't it. Most things now are sold as seen. And how can it be policed? Lots of thought to go into it.

  • @roberthiggins6401
    @roberthiggins6401 Před 2 lety +2

    PTO covers should be made more substantially in my opinion particularly where they clip to the PTO shaft itself and the chain to the guard. Where the chain fixes to the guard is just plastic and that goes first usually. Really the whole guard should be reinforced in some way.
    Regards dealers I agree but sometimes you can get a better deal if you can get them to replace it before you agree a price.

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  Před 2 lety

      Yes very true! They always seem to give out where the chain attaches first!

  • @casto-
    @casto- Před 2 lety +1

    Nout like the feeling you get smashing weeds into a million piece 😁.
    Ok I’ll stick my neck out, I still believe a pto guard still wrongly given more credit for keeping people safe than switching a tractor off. Something like a mower, no one should be near it while it turns anyway. If you need to mess with it, turn the ignition off, nothing can get you. Pto can jump back into gear and blades can still move and a pto guard won’t do much for a blade 🤔🤔🤷‍♂. But that’s just me 🤣🤣🤷‍♂

      You are completely right mate! Nothing can replace common sense and being 100% safe. Its things like tankers that people stand beside while filling that are a sticky situation!

    @hellohello3199 Před rokem +1

    To be honest with you why would anyone go near a machine whilst it’s turning over, I’m not against safety at all but the safest thing would not to be near it at all regardless of whats covering it. I think everyone seems to think if it’s new it’s safe which is a big misconception.

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  Před rokem

      I don’t think you should, but I do think the shaft covers should be better and also no where near as expensive as they are.
