7:00 reminds me of the Bystander Effect episode from Psycho-Pass the anime. People are so reliant on others that they won't take on the responsibility themselves. This is one of the most horrifying things I've ever heard from America. I hope that woman gets justice and make a full recovery.

Mexican American here, my parents drove all the way to the middle in michoacan..they didn't really go out cause of how bad it was. The week they got there my cousins husband got kidnapped along with his father since they own like a auto part store and they took all of their merchandise they were delivering and held them random for 3.5k each. Then they threatened them they had a quota weekly. They stopped delivering to that little town. It's bad down there, my parents are also from this hole in the mountain little ranch where chapo was hidden for years and nobody snitched on him out for the same reason cause their lives and family would of been on the line. I have some family members that worked for him long ago

Japanese are also not really "allowed" to show as much emotion in comparison to Koreans. They are literally trained to be emotionless because everyone is. The only exception would be the people from the Osaka/Kansai Region in Japan who are pretty emotional.
In Japan, people who stray away from the norm are looked up to by the newer younger generation but the old people in Japan will immediately start calling them delinquents in a hope to get them to conform and beat them down.
Its much harder in the big cities versus the small cities. Tattoos are slowly getting normalized by Japanese celebrities but that old way of thinking isn't going to change anytime soon so not everyone can get away with tattoos - majority of people will still connect tattoos to the yakuza.

Kitty Genovese was the name of that lady, but the case has been widely misinterpreted. They act like people literally saw her and just watched, but that was journalism clickbait. There was one guy who kind of didn't do anything, but most of the people didn't know what was going on or they weren't aware enough to see that something was wrong.

That segment was almost borderline prejudiced. I like this trio on this podcast, but they need to do better on not associating tragedies from drug trafficking with certain groups of people, specifically Latin-American immigrants. Imagine you're an innocent business owner like the fruit stand vendors and now suddenly you have to deal with racist paranoid people who think you're apart of a crime syndicate. As a person of Latin descent, it was a bit uncomfortable. And I know they don't have to settle for that low hanging fruit for humor.

I believe there is an actual japanese movie based around those two guys who kidanapped that girl. Didn't they put her in like an oil can and fill it with wet concrete and leave her in a park or something? Extremely messed up shit. And obviously this movie was a watered down version of the events that actually happened, reading deeper into this stuff will get your blood boiling.
Worst part about it is that I don't even think this pales in comparison to some of the most messed up shit Japanese serial killers have done. The otaku killer is another terrible part of recent Japanese history, seriously ruined my whole day reading into that one. And to think they let that dude go? Fking mental.
