- Hey everyone! This week I am back after my longest break yet with some happenings from around town. As always, I was in the mines, exploring on my dirtbike, and even had a visit from someone very important to Cerro Gordo's past and future!
Thank you all so much for the support as I try to find a better balance of release schedule. It's winter up here, so everything is a bit slower and that is giving me an opportunity to recharge a bit and get ready for an exciting Spring and Summer.
Hey everyone! If you didn’t see, I just posted a new video! I put it on my other channel by accident, but I hope you check it out here! czcams.com/video/_xA7B9Y2jK4/video.html
Glad you are safe Brent 😊

Thank you all so much for ALL the support through this journey! So many new adventures to be had and progress to be made. These winter months can be slow, but it'll be Spring soon enough! Cheers to 2022 and beyond!

Much love Brent ! ❤️
Thank you Brent, for Producing such beautiful videos.
Your so welcome brent so much live from over the pond 🙌👊🥰👌
What’s playing music wise right now? Be honest
Brent, the real treasure is not the silver. The real treasure is the awesome memories you create and share them with us!!! Thank you so much for your passion for Cerro Gordo, history and life!!! May God continually bless you and help you keep the creative juices flowing with your amazing simple down to earth presentations.👍
well said!!
Well said.
This is all true.
But don't forget that if the price of silver rises enough, someone will eventually give them a very generous offer on the whole property. Material treasures are still treasures.
The real treasure is Brent himself. He is the treasure we didn't even know we needed or deserved. Thank you for everything and hope to one day see Cerro Gordo become a full, living town.
I mean making a bit of money while having fun isn't all bad.
Everyone who loves your channel looks forward to updates on your adventures, and the progress you make up at Cerro Gordo.
Never forget that you have a solid foundation of viewers who love the content you provide; and we won't go away because you haven't posted every week. Your internal, spiritual and emotional health is the most important thing! Pacing yourself, and posting when the spirit moves you, is enough for us! Take Care of Self, Brent! Everything else will fall into place. Keep going, mate. :D And when I need a CG moment? I tune into your Cerro Gordo Two channel, and listen to 'the Cerro Gordo soundtrack' you've created, and watch the images you've documented. IT NEVER GETS OLD! 😌😌
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. I'm trying to take it a bit slower during these winter months and recenter.
I second that thought...
True that!

Brent you are the hidden treasure of Cerro Gordo. Your efforts over the last few years have been inspirational.
So excited to see you again ..I'm a 75 year old women from Australia ..love to see you learning about nature and life ..loving animals as I do love that grey kitten ... Have 3 grown sons ..so see you in that dimension..as they grew on a farm with motor bikes..etc love to see your life there ..so thanks for posting again !
Hi 👋 dear, how are you doing?
22 months since we were gifted the greatest channel on the internet😏 Be encouraged Brent, I know it might be a bit much balancing YT & a literal town, but either way, you provide so much love and passion, inspiring so many! Bless you buddy.
Great to see Robert back at Cerro Gordo and doing well. In 2010 my 12 year old son and I drove up in our new Jeep and Robert gave us a tour of the hotel, the museum and also directed us to the bunker site where Iron Man scenes were shot, just to the north of the town. My son and I remember that trip well.
Yeah!! We have been worried about you Brent!! So glad to see you are ok!!
I'm OK! Just recharging a bit.
Someone is spreading rumors that you were in the hospital fighting for your life

Lol humans
So happy you went home for a visit. I promise that your parents missed you more than they will ever say. My happiest times are when I see my daughter face to face.
I am truly humbled by your story. As you have grown into your roll as Cerro Gordo’s caretaker and historian your life philosophy has grown as well. We see it in how much you try to give back to a location. you are learning to live on “island time” seeing the long game as a real thing. I am happy you got away perspective comes with distance. When you set yourself up as the living embodiment of a ghost town the only thing to be wary of is becoming a ghost yourself. Thanks Brent
100% behind you whatever direction you decide to take. You have given us all so much
I appreciate that! Restoring Cerro Gordo is always the goal. Making it a place that the public can enjoy in many ways - day trips, camping, hotel, etc. How we get there is always changing, but the main goal isn't!
@@GhostTownLiving I want to come out soon I’m from Pasadena, ca I’m from a construction background and would be down to work with my crew
I've watched you since the night your little car got stuck in the snow and what you've accomplished so far is beyond incredible. But I'm happy you took time off for yourself, its so important that you regularly practise self care. I got concerned about the weight you were losing but the trip home definitely did you good you're looking better. Take your time and we will enjoy along with you, Cerro Gordo needs you healthy 💜🇮🇪💜
Thank you so much.

@@GhostTownLiving ii am a 80 year old women and I love your youtube. I have watched them all now. I do worry you mght get hurt in the minds. So please be careful. You have such a wonderful heart. I am praying for you to stay safe.
I'm glad you wear a respirator when you are drilling out the ore now. Looking forward to many more Cerro Gordo videos and restorations for many years to come
Imagine the lungs of those miners in the 1800's. Must have been brutal working conditions.
I hope he cleans that respirator before he uses it again. He just tossed it in the same container that he had collected the ore in lol.
It’s probably not enough to be dangerous, but I don’t think I’d be strapping something that is covered in lead dust to my face. There’s some irony to me writing a comment about breathing in dangerous dust, while I have a cigarette in my mouth but that’s neither here nor there. 😂
@@deepg7084 Especially before they added the water blasters to keep the dust down! Imagine prior to that!
The world needs more people like Brent. It is pure joy to listen to this!
I love the old photos of people in the mines. It makes you think of what they endured just to survive and make money. I love they way you make it so understandable and easy to access.
Balance is so important in life! Hope you find that perfect balance and continue your adventures along the way. These videos show a great appreciation for that search. So thanks for another great, inspirational one!
Thanks so much Josh. It's an ongoing quest to find that balance! Trying my best
@@GhostTownLiving 🙏
Brent, moving forward while pacing yourself is very wise of you to doscover. It takes most people years, decades, maybe never to figure that out. Slow and steady wins the race. In the meantime, we'll wait.
It’s definitely not an easy thing to figure out especially with the culture we live in. I had to crash and burn a bit at the beginning of covid for me to start figuring it out. I’m glad Brent has started to get there without too much pain it seems. Taking care of oneself should always be the number one priority.
Yes Natalie. Very important to take care of yourself. If we burn out we accomplish nothing.
Brent! Everything you’ve been doing is amazing and so many of us appreciate it. You’ve accomplished so much in 22 months. I, for one, envy people like you who are able to bring us into your life and share your experiences. Thank you!
Brent, one of your best videos yet. It is so reflective - not just of your activities in and around the mine and town - but of your inner being, your thoughts and dreams that are being shaped by the solitude you experience and, the wonderment of the past and anticipation of the future. Thank you for being the person you are, for sharing your experiences and, for being the eyes into a place and time that most of us in the world would never know or experience for ourselves.
Don't feel so down my friend, you are experiencing somthing very few people will ever get to experience, just remember to take that breather once in a while, to keep yourself refreshed. We will all still be here ready to watch your next video 😁
This is such a welcome departure from other CZcams content. Feels like a vacation. Thank you.
Brent, you're going to be the COOLEST old dude. It's going to be a complete treat to anyone in the future that gets to sit down and have a conversation with you.
He’s considered old?

Totally!
Brent, take a note from the old timers that died working on the town, there might be toxicity in the air, or toxic chemicals around you. You should make sure theres no aspestos and that you are wearing a resperator down in the mine because two people who last worked on the down got deathly ill and it might not be a coincidence.
Yes, and more mask wearing in the caves!
The lead in particular concerns me, especially if he’s going to be making silver more and working with the ore more often then I really hope he’s wearing the proper equipment to make sure he’s not getting exposed to dangerous levels of lead or other toxins/carcinogens/etc
He's safer out there than being in the city near those government clown officials.
I do agree about ole time things that may be toxic not talked about back in the ole days. Research is a good thing. Best of everything Brent!
Yep. Also dropping a respirator onto a bucket of lead containing ore is a bad idea.
Thanks for sharing Brent, my wife and I look forward to your video each weekend. We really hope your break / vacation helped. Be safe up there, physically and mentally. It seems like you have made so many new friends. We hope you stay happy and motivated. Cerro Gordo needs you, and you’re doing a great job. Keep it up we’re so impressed with how far is has all come. Greetings from Iowa, no mountains or mines here!
First off, I'm SO glad you took some time away from Cerro Gordo. We missed your videos, but it's ALWAYS good to take mental breaks and the last thing any of us want is for you to get burned out! Mental health breaks are good for the soul.
Secondly, I love that you did a time capsule. I almost wish you wouldn't have told anyone about it and I hope you did throw off the trail with a lot of incorrect clues. ;) My husband and I bought a 1960's house in Las Vegas back in June. A few weeks ago we decided to reface the fireplace since I couldn't get the smell of cigarettes out of the stone after four scrubbings. Turns out it's fake stone. But there was plywood behind the stone that was probably the cause...and behind the plywood was more fake stone! But also there was a storage area (which I thought there might be) and low and behold it was filled with old cabinets, wiring from a stereo system, a 1960's MAGNAVOX TV (!!!), an old Pepsi can (the kind that you open with a church key), and some old juice bottles that likely date back to the late 50's or early 60's. SO, as we rebuild the facade - now with a wet bar to the side - I've put a time capsule of my own back into the wall. It has a letter about the house, pictures from when we bought the house, pics from the demolition of the fireplace, and a note about where we might put another time capsule as we have plans for another remodel in the future. I love finding this stuff! I love thinking about all the people who have lived here and what they have done in their lives. Nothing like Cerro Gordo's richer history, but just as fun to think about. :)
Even though it's through videos, I've fallen in love with this town and I can't wait to visit some day. Thanks Brent for making history come alive. Well done sir!
Me too!
I'm happy you had a proper vacation and some distance of cerro gordo to reflect on your life. And hopefully some variety in your diet 😂
Thanks for the update!
Glad that you are safe. Thank You for sharing.
I always come back to your channel when I'm struggling with my identity as a historian, you're great at grounding history in humanity, in material objects and people.
I freaking LOVE your videos and your enthusiasm for the property and history. The way you tell the story is captivating. Keep up the awesome work!
These videos warm my heart, in a way I cannot explain. The way you speak of the place, the words you use to talk about life in general, and the fleeting existence that we have here. Is so Awe inspiring. The passion, and the drive to make this a place that people can come see, and feel what you feel, is really amazing. Keep up the great work. We love the videos. I watch them not only for the adventures, but more for the inspiring messages that are in them.
Agreed!
The longer time in between the videos makes me appreciate them even more! Take time for yourself, we will be here waiting and eager to view your next video!
Compared to the rest of these comments. I see alot of others don't feel the same. And that's sad that they don't care about this man's health.
Good to watch you today . Getting a break from whatever is your day to day life is always needed by most of us. Glad you had a chance to go see family & friends Brent. Enjoyed this one as I can relate. 👍
I really enjoy learning about Cerro Gordo, but I think that perhaps your reflections on life are what I enjoy most. God bless you, Brent.
A lovely memory once again you have captured... I doubt any "big "TV channel would even capture 40% of what you do. You are broadcasting your experience , including past and present residents. Making your own history and even a glimpse into the future. I wish you well Sir..
Thank you.
Thankyou for sharing your life with us. Brent I hope to meet you someday you are a inspiration to slow down and do what you love. History baby!
Everyone needs a vacation .. good for you. Remember your life is yours, we tag along, but only when and if you allow.. just as it should be
Hi 👋 dear, how are you doing?
I love that the last thing you say before going down into the mine is “take care of the cats!” Priorities in the right place! 😸 What you’ve accomplished in the last 20 months is remarkable. I hope you take all the time you need to find your balance so you’re not feeling too overwhelmed. So glad you got a chance to go be with your family. That chance to really unplug is so important.
This is the coolest idea/page. I admire the confidence you have to just plunge hundreds of feet into earth just cause your passion! Found your page a week ago and I’m already in love with Cerro Gordo! Keep it up! You’re very inspiring 🤙🏽 love from Hawaii !!
Many Blessings and Prayers sent up for your phenomenal journey. We are grateful that you take US ALONG!!👏💯🔥☀️🌄
As a kid who grew up running around a mine in the Mojave Preserve in California this stuff makes me smile.Keep it coming, and be safe them ol shafts were sketchy when they were new..I can only imagine nowadays.

I have been watching you from the beginning and you just amazed me with the love you bring to us all. Sometimes you go out of your way to touch all of us in one way or another with something new. Your a great young man wish I had that much poop in me. I did when I was a young wippersnapper . Thanks my man.
Happy new year Brent! I’m so glad you took a break to take care of yourself. One really great thing that’s come out of the times we’re in is I think people are really started to take their mental health more seriously. Burnout is one of the shittiest things I’ve ever experienced and I’m glad you’re committing to find a balance for yourself so you don’t hit that breaking point. You can’t take care of the town if you don’t take care of yourself first. Glad to see things in Cerro Gordo are doing well and I’m glad you’re prioritizing your well-being.
We have been following your channel for the entire 22 months on both of our personal channels, our Off grid channel and we love it. We also shared with our parents in their 80's who have switched from regular tv and cable and are now watching youtube channels exclusively! Your channel was instrumental in getting us all thru C19!
So glad to see a new video from you. I start to worry about you when two weeks go by without anything here from you. You definitely have a CZcams family following you.
So pleased to hear you went home for a time. This was one of your best decisions you have ever made. Now you know you can leave will make you a far better caretaker than before. God bless
Stumbled on your channel during the first lockdown and watching ever since. You're doing great bro, don't stress about "progress". We are all behind you 💯 cheers from NZ
What a wonderful young man you are. You are going to do amazing things there because it's being done with love. Stay safe, love from the UK 🇬🇧
Brent, I want to thank you for being honest about struggling to find balance. I myself am on a similar journey and regularly strugle and often wonder how others can do it. Many forget that what we see is not the whole truth and I really needed to hear your honesty. Thank you. Take care of yourself!
Hi 👋 Angela, how are you doing?
Bet those miners way back would of loved to have those drills Brent. I love the introduction music. Your great dude. Much love to you. ❤
I can’t get over the scenery there. It’s so beautiful, and it’s something that before this channel, I thought you could only see in other parts of the world, but now I know that one of the most beautiful places is in the us. It just took a second to realize and take it in.
I'm so in love with the desert southwest.. I dont have enough years left to see everything i would love to see there. People think its this barren, desolate place. Its just different.. I'm intrigued by all the people who went ahead in some of the remote places.. And stayed trying to strike it rich for years... There's literally hundreds of abandoned mining camps everywhere.. So much untouched history..
What you are doing is so cool. Preserving history and making history at the same time!!
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures and dreams with us! Always a thrill and an inspiration!
Hey Brent. Good to see an update. You are definitely your own man on a road much less traveled in today's times. It's rewarding watching your muses and motivations. Your life and your conscious have changed forever. You are definitely winning over other free spirits!
Everybody has advice for you but I can see that you are very intelligent and in tune with yourself. It's very cool watching this adventure. Thanks for sharing
I love Mr. Demaris, he sure can tell a story!
I'm gonna have to save this video for tomorrow, as it's my bedtime. But I know it'll be a good un. They always are great. A joy to watch. Brent you are an outstanding filmmaker.
Your parents are priceless. There’s going to be a day you wish you could go fly back and visit for couple days. Always cherish every second while your there. Thank you for all your content. Love every second of it. Your making something that generations for many, many years that can enjoy.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Getting lost in the quest for progress is why people have become what they are. Never stopping to smell the air, to feel the dew, or touch the rock. Good on you for slowing the pace
Thanks for the update Brent. Bet it was quite the mental shock to get out to Florida. I remember spending months in a cabin with the only action being listening to winter ice cracking across the lake. To go back to a noisy city was almost surreal and one finds themselves yearning to go back to the special quiet of the natural world again. Cheers! Glad you took a break!😊
Great video my friend. Brent you're never alone spiritually we are all here with you although it may not be physical. Keep up the good work my friend. God bless you
I'm so happy you gave yourself a break we all need it mentally and physically its good to escape one mans paradise is another mans hell and so quickly the lines can be blurred and no longer sure which we one are facing

We'll be there to support you all the way, even if it is from afar. Thanks for the video.👍👍
thank you for the ending words. I myself find myself struggling to find a balance in my life, it means a lot to me to have you put those words out there which I can relate to soo much ❤
Good to see you back Brent! That life/work balance is so important for health. Maybe just monthly updates on this channel and a few shorts on the 2nd channel to give you a chance to slow down and enjoy this wonderful journey
