New BMW CE 02 Electric vehicle | Yes Or No?

- Chad's been to Lisbon to have a go on BMW's new electric vehicle, the CE 02.
It might not be for all of us, but could make sense if you live in a city centre, if you have the money! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Under acceleration, it sounds almost _identical_ to my tinnitus.
Save on fuel? I didn't realise petrol scooters were particularly thirsty.
Some 125s are under £2000. So thats a £7500 difference. Or at the 100mpg a 125 will do as a minimum about 100k miles of fuel if the electric was free. At the cap of 29p/kWh and 10mi/kWh - realistic for UK use - that leaves another £2900 or another 40k miles on the 125.
Break even is at around 200k miles which the battery will never do and when it needs to be replaced it will cost more than another 125.
Sounds like a bargain to me.
@@siraff4461Yes, but you have not accounted for the virtue signalling kudos factor. 😂😂
@@siraff4461 If Honda make an E90 Cub and do a good job it could be a gamechanger. This beemer isn't it.
Don’t know about fuel but street parking is already 3€/hr in Paris and free of electric… so definitely saving big money there
@@FGGiskard and that is driven by political virtue signalling which is proving not to be popular with the masses. Any system with such a bias gets peoples back up, and they will give it an Elon - “Fuck You”.
Confused at the reasoning about it being less appealing to thieves. The little scrotes would absolutely love a shiny electric twist and go that costs nearly £10k!
But who would they pass it on to? They are rare.
Harder to dispose of.
Thief's don't care. They steal it, ride it and dump it. They would break it up.@@user-sw2lv3zp6o
Why is it less appealing to thieves? It's £9.5k and easy to steal.
Yes I did not get it either. In London they will steal anything of value or little value and if they can steal it they will often burn it to the ground. What a culture.
Harder to dispose of.
Insane price, who wants to buy this? Just rich kids...
Obviously. What's wrong with making a premium product for people who can afford it?
@@paulleonard1296Cus it’s virtue signalling and crap?
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! & NO!
Electric cars / motorcycles are battery toys, battery toys that are charged via fossil fuels, SO run in that case via fossil fuels!
Just as a standard combustion engine does! This whole electric go green vehicle BS is just that, complete LIE & RUBBISH!
Greta Thunberg will buy one :D
@@wl660 the reviewer said it was great but if you've ridden it yourself then post a link to your review and I'll look forward to seeing your take. Not sure how having a little scooter to get around the city or just your country estate without the faff of having to go to a petrol station is virtue signalling but whatever. It's not aimed at you, it's not aimed at me. Can we both just appreciate the engineering though? Or do you only like 20th century tech?
If electric bikes are the future, why are their sales falling?
It's a hard pass for me.
Price makes this 'bike' virtually unsaleable.
Looking at the comments section, the answer to the question is: NO
Not for me. Scooters are fuel misers as is. What happens when the battery needs replacing, an expensive replacement battery and who is going to buy a second hand electric vehicle, car or bike.
No one. Confirmed with drop in EV Sales and 2nd hand prices.
Buy a Silence S01+ for half the money of this and you can actually extract the battery and charge at home in a normal plug. Just brilliant.
@@wl660 In the US Tesla is outselling both BMW and Mercedes total sales (all fuel types) combined. My Rivian R1T is worth $20-$25k more than I paid for it a year ago..
My Rivian comes with a 180k battery warranty. And is no more expensive to replace an an ICE motor. Maybe BMW have done the same with this?
@@wl660
Cars as a WHOLE took a hit the past couple of years, Tesla and other EVs are almost 20 perecent (17 percent lf total vehicles in 2023) of total vehicle's sold on the market. EV ownership is going up my dude
THAT's the 'comfort' seat??? It looks as comfy as a church pew. Wowzers.
Meanwhile you can get an electric cycle for £2000 and do the same thing
100 km/h on an eletric cycle?
@@The77Game Yup, I've done it on a proper pedal cycle......Admittedly was down a long steep hill whereas they're likely talking about along the flat, but there's also the bike @Vortech built that can hit really ridiculous speeds:P
www.youtube.com/@Vortecks
@@chegson2wheels686 Sure but first of all, if you're talking about that Vortex e-bike then it apparently costs 6000$ which seems even more crazy for an e-bike than 8500£ for a 125cc equivalent motorcycle. And secondly, OP said "...and do the same thing" and being able to, on very specific conditions, reach the same top speed as this one it's not the same as being able to travel at that speed whenever you want to. Because they designed this to go at that speed we also know that the suspension, wheels and brakes are dimensioned to handle it. Both can be great for their intended purpose but i would not say they do the same thing.
@@chegson2wheels686not the build quality obs and cant take an electric cycle on a freeway. this you could
£8000 for this 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'd rather get a 125 for nipping about and a 400 🤷
The one in the video is £9500!
Can get a Street Triple for that.
no, this is not going to sell in any notable quantity
No, no and... hmm... no.
No storage?
They offer the usual top cases and boxes for 400€ (200 per box and 200 per mounting option)
Impressive that luggage is 5% of vehicle value.
How can they justify £9500? Seriously who would buy it?
Keep it for five years and save about 3,600 on petrol minus whatever it costs in electric to charge it at home. All this depends on how long the batteries last before they needs renewing. It begins to make sense to me.
So, electricity is free, is it? Not on my planet, it ain't....
Perfect if you live in town? What if you want to be able to leave town now and then? Going to need another bike to go with it, aren't you?
As for that price - a 125 isn't exactly thirsty in the first place so you're going to need to do a lot of miles to make that difference up.
You say "only" £100 per month - £102 actually - but thats with an £1866 deposit - enough to buy a really decent 125 and have no monthly payment at all.
You also said insurance will be cheaper - might want to check that because insurance for ev's has been going through the roof and its unlikely you're going to insure a ~£10k bike for the same as a ~£4k bike anyway.
Oh and on the range. You tried it in probably the best conditions it will ever see. Perfect temps, no standing water, low speeds and short runs. That range will drop a long way when its in the UK in winter.
A 'no' would of done!
Thats right. Or look at them here in Scandinavia. The electric busses doesnt work at all in cold so they had to start there old busses. ”environment friendy”.
@@BikeWorldTVshow A more balanced review would have been nice too.
It’s a shame about the solid wheels, may make chaining it up in London a bit trickier than it should be. If you don’t, you may not have it long. Then you’d wish for that tube pass 😂
A person could buy a Meteor and a Classic for the same money. Any storage options ?
That's a comfort seat? lmao 😂😂
nope
Yep
In the US the Insurance on any EV is higher, sometimes triple the price over an ICE vehicle. You pay for insurance for the life of a vehicle, in the US it is still way less expensive to own ICE an vehicle than EV just because of Insurance premium.
I own a Rivian R1T and my premiums (for better cover) went down compared with the car I sold to buy it. Same for my wife's Tesla too. Shop around I guess?
55 miles quoted/46 miles done is not worth £9500. Shocking price for such small range.
Why no coverage / discussion with a pillion?
What a waste of money, typical BMW getting as bad as Ducati with their arrogance and pricing, as Clarkson once said they could put a BMW badge on dog shit and people would still by it.
0:18 "it's not a scooter"...5:00 "it's a really high end, premium scooter".
Whatever!

A Maeving beats this hands down on price, style and practicality
100% agree
A Maeving isn't in the same league.
@@user-sw2lv3zp6o 😂
Stick it in flash mode and ride it with right wrist only, perfect city bike but bloody hell you could by a GSX8R for that money.
gucci road cycling bikes are that price
or a e mtb
What I dont understand is why this is aimed at city life. People who live in an actualy city will know that a fixed battery is no way to charge it overnight. Detachable battery is the way to go. Voromotor roadrunner pro is probably the most city friendly option which can go upto 50mph
A very slow BMW made from Leggo at that price? I don't expect to see many of those zipping through the town any time soon. We don't need time to tell, it's way to expensive.
Hard pass!
I guess BMW sells this for rich kids, oh i mean 'wealthy young people"
biden: "poor kids have money also same as white kids"
It'll be discounted and 0% finance before you know it. And then for the well-healed, it'll be the ideal bike for popping down to Starbucks and back on a sunny summer's day.
I would love to what other brands offer for the same price range, a comparison would be interesting
If I had a commute I would definitely consider one of these.
“Less appealing for bike thieves”. There’s a reason for that - and the same for bikers.
For that money I'd get a Tenere 700 and ride all over the world
I think energica would strongly disagree with not having the power for electric sport bikes.
greta has one on order for protest transpo.
Those small wheels would disappear in a British pothole
No, it's a pile of shite, I'll save my money and keep my pushbike because I'm not a lazy twat. How much environment was damaged digging that battery stuff up, and shit loads of Diesel was used to get it
There’s a lot of oil which went into you pushbike too but I totally get your point. I own an electric bicycle and have sold my gsxr since I completely stopped using it because of it. I still love motorcycles but my view of them completely changed and the love is steadily fading away. I can hardly imagine ever riding one again.
Agree about its lack of 'green' credentials, but this isn't an alternative to a pushbike. Unless you're a very speedy rider.
@@10secondsrule all this environment stuff is absolutely bollox anyway, they've been talking about it since the 70's and the environment will fall apart on its own like it did millions of years ago, and dinosaurs never had a motorbike between them, if they had motorbikes most of them could have got away from all the stuff that was happening with the environment & big things landing on them, I'll keep my pushbike because it's cheaper to run than filling up any of by 5 bikes, and I'm still redesigning my 87 XT350 or what it will be called WRXT350X if I get it finished before I'm 60 in a couple of years
Nope
£9500.00 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So its this or an RS660. 🤣
It should be made illegal 😅😅😅
Now if BMW made this with a 125cc petrol engine they might actually sell quite a few!
Anybody who could afford it, wouldn't want to ride it and anyone who wants to ride it won't be able to afford it.
What a thing !
I think I will not rush out to not buy one .
I’d rather use a push bike at that range and time to charge
Why does the switch gear look like it's been robbed off a gen 1 superduke?
I mean...it's nice...but i would probably go a premium electric bicycle like a Brompton or something if i lived in a big city like London or Tokyo
No. I'll stick with my modded Honda Monkey. 120mpg and only $4k.
why not talking about EMF on this "thing"? Or about its direct/indirect pollution? Or about the risks of fire or explosion? What about the quarantine if exposed to water, or in case of malfunctioning?
Seems you’ve been drinking the anti EV kool-aid and loving it. Quarantine?! Good grief, no need to be so afraid of different things. This bike is just another way to ride around town
@@D0praise mmm looks like you are stoned
They don't want to sell any... to expensive... at that price the insurance will be insane.
Just buy a £1k electric bicycle for that sort of work!
I would consider it for half the price. 9k is too much, it is 125cc on batteries
Your tube pass isn't being put in the back of a Transit.
If it looks like a joke it must be a joke.
Why I love this bike so much ... that thing is certainly NOT a bike.
If it was 2/3 the price I'd have one.
I'll take the tube pass please
Yeahhhh!! no thanks .
Not for me. Price is way too high compared to gas equivalents.
No thanks!
Developed and produced by TVS in India. But at least the pricing is from BMW.
It looks like it isn't finished and missing parts. If I had the money I wouldn't pick it over a petrol bike that exactly looks good.
I'll wait for the Chinese copy
For £4k it could be appealing.
For nearly £10k it should be a 300-400cc equivalent.
A 2000w electric scooter is 1/8th the price, just as useful in town, weighs only 35kg, but sadly isnt legal in the UK...
Hate it with all the petrol in my body, don't do it people, there are alternatives to electric on the way.
Although your bus or underground train is much less likely to get stolen by hooded thieves wielding machetes and cheap angle grinders to be fair!
You didn’t mention anything about the maintenance. Everytime I get maintenance on my 2023 BMW S1000RR it’s anywhere from 500$ to 1000$. They charge 180$ per hour. My bike broke down too. It’s been in the shop for almost 2 months and the techs don’t know what’s wrong with it.
Nooooooooooooo!
crazy - and they are seriously thinking of banning Petrol / ICE Motorcycles .
Once manufacturers managed to drop the pirce down. I'll galdly use an EV scooter as a daily commuter.
Great for cities, especially those penalizing ICE, but that price is very silly. Same as an F750 (a LOT more bike) and 20% more than C400GT (more competent). They've made it a WOKE fashion accessory, not a mobility solution when it could have been a trendsetter. Missed the opportunity by BMW honchos with a lovely design by their great engineers.
Nope, no, no chance, not on your nelly. £9k for that. Silly price. Who will buy one of those in the real world?
Aren’t scooters of this category supposed to be inexpensive transportation? Love the idea, really dislike the price. Hard pass for me
LOL
Why are you putting a license plate on it? It’s not a motorcycle lol
It looks like a luxury item. Excellent litle machine, but not for everybody
Nah, also very bad for the environment (battery production) and electricity network. And takes the fun out of biking
Pay extra for a comfort seat ? Bloody rip off seeing as it’s very expensive to start with . Why do BMW fit a substandard seat to a £9k bike and expect you to fork out another £200 ish when it should be fitted as standard ? Disgusting .
London thieves new favourite

A tube pass.
No
Why wold you bother? just get a honda grom, its cheaper, has at least twice the range, its probably just as fast if not faster, and it does 40km to a litre.
Ran into a bucket of chit and turned back into a solid turd - range crap 55-miles , recharge time utter bollocks ,charging from 5.2 hours to 3.5 hours all for the piss taking sum of £7,450 uk. Give me and old Honda CG125 any day of the week 125mpg and takes 3 mins to fill up. IMO BMW really shot themselves in the foot with this crap. £100 pcp? , difference is you're renting with pcp
exactly, that £100 month doesn't buy you the bike ... PCP only really works if you're a low mileage rider who trades up every 3 years and rolls the agreement on. If you want to actually buy the bike it's not a great solution at all.
PCP is for rich people who don’t care about losing money - but they usually do care and are very wise with money. PCP is like a credit card for plebs. If you can’t afford to buy it for cash you can’t afford it - it’s that simple yet very few understand it. It is hardly surprising given the generally high level of stupidity among majority of people.
PCP doesn't make sense vs buying to me. But I think his point was, that for urban users, 'renting' an EV motorcycle, is still cheaper than 'renting' a train (ticket) ride each month.
@@RichDunn fair point
