    Thanks for the review! I’m in that spot where I’m pretty happy with the wheels I have for most of my EUC activities…casual family ride, trips to the store, group rides, casual long solo ride, but I don’t have a top tier mega cruiser yet, like a MPro, Sherman, or Commander, or the upcoming Max so this video was quite helpful! Eventually I’ll want to do something like a long tour mountain ride, or here in the SF Bay Area, a ride around the entire bay, and only these types of wheels will do.
    That all said, it sounds like the best course of action is to wait, especially when considering high $$$ wheels. Commander looks very good indeed but I’m a heavier rider and I’d feel better with more cooling iteration. Max may be the way to go instead too, and there have been possible rumors of a High Torque MPro in the works, but only rumors at this point. In any case, your perspective is much appreciated!

    This is the kinda review that I will believe. From personal experience, I can't garner any major & small nuances from riding 200mile in a week. I didn't like my EXN til after 2-4weeks in. Now with >1k miles, I love it. Marty has done 1.2k miles in 3.5mths. Thats almost an owner's pov & more importantly, Marty has numerous similar wheels as reference. Although I can't see a need for a Commander in the foreseeable, its fun to know & read about. Great material for anyone looking for a long dist machine.

    Who would do a video concerning motor technology?
    I'm seeing videos highlighting "Axial Flux" motors as apposed to standard "Radial Flux" motors.
    Axial Flux (AF) motors are billed as slimmer, pancake motors.
    EUCs seem a good place for these AF motors.

    I just wanted to add to the heating issues on the commander. For the ht, I installed 3 fans (2 behind the light and 1 on the side in the battery compartment blowing at the mosfets. Weather was around 75F. In hard trails, it ran highest up to 160F after about an hr of fighting up slopes. I weight 230 lbs. Overall I think the 3 fans worked since it kept the wheel about around 140F to 150F for a long time of riding.
    For my hs, I ran it with 1 fan, then 2 fans and then eventually 3 fans. It could run fine with 2 fans or even 1 fan as long as you allow air to flow like you suggested. I only did 3 because I had the knowledge and tools. I ran the hs in trails and it did okay if I jumped a lot. But it definitely overheated with 1 fan for hard trails.
    If I was to make it better, i think I would just remove the lights and then rear speakers to encourage more air flow. Some people take the circular plastic dust cover off of their axle to get more air also. But the sherman has the best method of front and rear openings.
    Overall I like both the hs and ht. I highly recommend you to do the tubeless Michelin pilot street tire! Throw in some armadillo slime and she holds air! It's the smoothest ride you'll get. Try it!

    • @ElectricUnicycles
      @ElectricUnicycles  Před 2 lety +2

      Good info. I could never get myself to add additional fans. For me I prefer the passive approach (adding holes).
      As I joke with other people, I'm not a "tire nerd" so I usually stick with the tire that comes with the wheel. The couple of times that I've switched the tire based on a recommendation I've been disappointed. But thanks for the recommendation.

    I am barely getting into ewheels. I heard about the onewheel and baja board. Never heard about ewheels. I am amazed by them. So far what I have figured out about this community is that the Sherman Veteran is the legendary hero and the Commander may be a worthy opponent. I heard a Sherman Max is coming to town, as well. Can we expect a Sherman Max vs Commander video sometime soon?

    Hey Marty. I’ve been watching and learning from you for years now. I am wondering, since you have so much data on almost every wheel particularly on “overheating”. Is there a way to log the amperage draw in future tests? Like say on a Sherman going up overheat hill to see if there is a formula that can be calculated - example - if you draw 10 amps consistently going up a 20 degree slope for 6 minutes = overheat. As opposed to let’s say -example- drawing 15 amps consistently up a 30 degree slope for 3 minutes = no cutout or overheat. I wonder if collecting this data over time may reveal a formula for each wheel tested in the future? Anybody have thoughts on this?

    Its a shame about the lights. Its almost a step back. For us here in the UK we really need the wheels manufactures to become more focused on making it more like a moped with proper front and rear lights. If I look at the V11 and the Sherman, those two are good examples of EUC's with good solid front and great visible rear lights.

    The roll cage isnt that much of a a dealbreaker. Just get a splyceguard and it works great better than the sherman roll cage. Its the seated riding that might be an issue until somebody offers a custom built one.

    • @vtran1082
      @vtran1082 Před 2 lety

      @@robertfox4524 it's pretty ugly. But its the most functional barrier to protect your wheel with. It's kinda expensive for a beefy piece of metal but i guess it's from the cost of labor? You have to bend it together to adjust the fit to your wheel since it isnt perfect. I slapped on a fiberglass cover and the cage and it was a snug fit. It saved my wheel multiple times. Clark bumpers are good too.
      I just feel like the roll cage from veteran has been way overhyped since it's a weak hollow tube and it gets smashed just as easily.
