  • Victorian "2 Candle power" candle lamp of 1840. This heavy bronze sprung candle lamp has an adjustable wick height and combined with its glass chimney can be turned up to yield 2 Cp or down to 1/2 Cp. Needs fitting with hollow replacement candles that the wick and push rod pass through. Patented in 1840 by Crosse and Blackwell London UK.

    This candle lamp is called a Photion, the hollow candle is sprung loaded to ensure it is loaded towards the top to maintain the pool of candle fat, a principle used on the "Palmer" candle lamps of the Victorian era.
