@@RaineriHakkarainen it is your opinion. I do not judge the musiciens based on "what" they played but based on "how" they play and I believe that the 111 played by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli is the top .
The complexity of this sonata (the technical view point is the easiest one) requires an understanding of the content that just very few other musics require.

Én azok közé a magyarok közé tartozom, akinek a vérében tényleg van finn, de nem azért, mintha a finn és magyar rokon nép lenne, hanem egyik ősöm egy Magyarországra menekült finn kapitány. Pontosan Édesanyám felől, aki maga is zongorázott és imádta a zenét, azonban Michelangelit feltehetően nem ismerte. Soha nem beszélt róla, idős korában sem. Ennek oka lehetett a vasfüggöny. Így ő főleg a kiváló szovjet, magyar, német pianistákat ismerte és én is elsősorban ezeket ismertem. Anyám kedvence Horowitz volt. Ennek csodálatos művészetén kívül az volt az oka, hogy Édesanyám pszichiáter volt és Horowitz maniaco-depressiv: sokáig elbújt, majd, amikor mániás fázisba került koncertezett, adta a ráadásokat szinte vég nélkül. Michelangelit így érett felnőttként ismerhettem csak meg és azonnal elvarázsolt. Aki úgy tud Debussyt játszani, mint ő, azzal szemben mélységesen igazságtalan és felületes ítélet a "kiborg" megnevezés. Ő egy perfekcionista volt és ez az, ami az összes nagy zongoristától megkülönbözteti őt. Én bár nem vagyok zenész, hanem festőművész, azt hiszem némileg ismerem a nagy Debussy interpretátorokat Kocsis Zoltán - tól Gieseking - ig. Nagyon kedvelem pl. Larissa Dedova Debussy- játékát is, vagy Ránki Dezsőt, akiket Ön talán nem is ismer. Pedig érdemes. De Michelangeli tudott nekem újat mondani Debussyről. Úgyhogy ne bántsuk őt.

Minél jobban ütik azokat, annál mélyebbre fúródnak". Michelangeli nagy zongoraművész volt. Sibelius nagy zeneszerző. Ennyi.

Rimango molto perplesso. Michelangeli, come tutti sanno, ha dimostrato una ricchezza espressiva e poetica straordinarie, di fronte alle quali il pur bravo Pollini non può che oscurarsi. Questa interpretazione è meravigliosa da tutti i punti di vista: tecnica, interpretazione, espressione. Se dobbiamo cercare intepretazioni che reggano il suo confronto, non è certo a Pollini che dobbiamo guardare, ma semmai a Richter, o Arrau.
