- I decided to vlog the two days during Hurricane Idalia . Homemaking in a Hurricane! It turned out just fine for us, but I know a lot of others didn't fare as well, which makes me sad! Prayers go out to all! Thank you all for watching!

Peach Filling:
4 cups water
3 cups pineapple juice
6.5 cups sugar
1/2 cups peach or apricot jello mix
1 3/4 cup clear jel or thermal Flo ( check amazon or bulk food stores)
5-6 quart chopped peaches
Mix the first 4 ingredients in stock pot then add thermal Flo and cook until it thickens. Pour in peaches. can be used fresh if not wanting to can.
Canning Instructions: Have hot water in your water bath canner and then put the jars in there. I had water up to the neck. Then bring to a boil and cook for 25 minutes. Cool and make sure lids are sealed before storing.

For the slush I cut up peaches then sweeten those. I then added in crushed pineapple, grapes, blueberries. Bananas are great too. I was just out of them. I added Orange Juice and some V8 energy juice. 7up is great too. This is a recipe that's not a science. Just have enough liquid so it's slushy when you thaw to eat. That's it. We love slush!

Your canned jars are beautiful!! My mom tells me my grandma after a long week of canning, would go stand in the pantry and just look at all she got done. All the beautiful colors. I’m thankful that you all survived the hurricane without issues (and you got your roof finished in time). That was a lot of rewarding work with all those peaches…I will have to remember Contender peaches next season in Ohio , they all looked so good and your pie filling turned out beautiful. We got really Blessed in Lake City, we got some rains and winds and some trees down, but it ended up shifting and we were spared. Glad you and your family are safe. ❤
The Worst part was losing power for 4 hours in the Morning. The next day when we came home from Church we lost power again for 4 More hours from 7:15pm-12:15am I have medical issues and use oxygen and a CPAP machine and a Nebulizer and cried, Prayed and had a hard time until we got power back so I was able to sleep and Praise God that our Power came back on.
Thankfully we are OK here in Tallahassee! We were without power for a day and a half, but we do have a generator which is such blessing! Our yard is a mess and there were some big branches that fell, but thankfully no trees fell. We do have friends that had a pine tree fall on their roof and there were trees down elsewhere. That was our main concern as well since we have some big pines in our yard. All in all feeling very thankful for the Lord's protection. I'm glad you were able to get your roof finished in time!
We have family in Mayo, Florida that suffered terrible damage. We live around 30 miles West of Jacksonville Florida and we only had power outage. PTL.

My mom used to make pies, apple & peach to the point of baking, slide them into ziploc bags and freeze

So glad you didn't get a direct hit from the hurricane ! I was live streaming one of my favorite weather men Dave Osterberg out of Tampa to watch the path of the hurricane from up here in Ct. That's one thing about moving back up north, we don't have to worry about any more. It will be snow storms now ! You are so amazing the way you just whip up great food in your kitchen. The birthday cake was amazing ! and those waffles & peaches looked so delicious 😋

So thankful you & your family were safe. Over here on the Atlantic side in Northeast Florida, we had mostly wind. We only had about 0.17 inches of rain. The winds varied from 20-25 mph & the highest were around 40-45 mph. We were fortunate that Idalia moved a little northwestward from the original expected landfall & that really made a more safe position for us. North, south & west of us weren’t as lucky. I’m a Florida native & I’ve become accustomed to hurricane season, but it still scares me a lot as I’ve gotten old. I turned 76 in July. We’re fortunate to have a full house standby generator that runs our entire house if our power goes out. This time we didn’t lose any power. My heart goes out to the citizens in The Big Bend. That land is so low there & the water surge was awful. They suffered so much damage. They are in our prayers. It will take them a long time to recover. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Prayers to your whole family and all the people that are affected by this horrible storm hope beyond hope that god is taking care of all.

We left your area last Saturday and headed to SW Pa. It is so beautiful here - the weather has been delightful. As far as we know our house in Fl. got thru the storm without damage. My husband had put the storm shutters up before we left. Our HOA said there was no visible wind damage or flooding within our little plan. Thanks for the video & update. The birthday boy's cake looked nice. Thank goodness your roof got done!!!

We made it through another hurricane! We were virtually unscathed. We're a bit inland as well and in North Sarasota. We didn't even experience flooding. And I'm grateful we didn't lose power. Last year ours was off for 11 days. But Ian really cooled things down so it was bearable. And we were prepared. Glad you were as well. Happy birthday to your son and dad!
