- The Pokemon anime has been going on for awhile now. We all know how weird the show can get, but some things can just be really disturbing. Things can be found hidden throughout the show. So today we take a look at these moments including the ones from banned episodes!

Not only are things getting much more lenient, such as your example, they are also going backwards. The song Kim by Eminem caused controversy and a lot of talk, but nothing beyond that, while recently a teenager recited one of his lines from a different song on Twitter (or Facebook) and was arrested on accounts of terroristic threats.
The Porygon episode wasn't disturbing. It was just bad choices of animation. The actual episode is kind of cute.
I guess the disturbing part was the aftermath of sending so many children to the hospital
I REALLY HATE that so many people blame and hate porygon for causing the seizures yet it was PIKACHU that caused them !!!! And ever since then, porygon has not been in another episode of the anime... Poor porygon was framed! :(
I always found that annoying, especially seeing as it is one of my favourite Pokémon.

Hello everyone, as you may have noticed I didn't appear in the video for the intro as usual this week. Reason being I have been sick for the past week, but still wanted to get this video done so I just commentated the intro instead. I have had a cold so my voice might sound off in the video and it might not sound as enthusiastic as I usually sound. Computer Soldier Porygon? That episode was called "Electric Soldier Porygon"
In the squirtle squad there was atleast five guns pointed at ash and the episode was fine in America so why just why?
1. get well soon and 2. shoulda waited for the diancie movie because like 10 pokemon and people die in the movie.
Mewoth wasnt dressed asHitler he was dressed as a 60's detective, if you actually watch the dub of that episode he actually states he has a love of old detective movies, and its line thats in both english and japanese with the exception Meowth says "American detective movies" The english version is hard to find since it was never aired on TV but its there with the other banned episodes.
Also Electric soldier Porygon was aired in some states in the USA, edited, It aired on Kids WB during there "Lost episodes" run that had Beauty and the beach(Minus all scenes with James) Holliday Hijinx(with recolored Jynx to purple) and Porygon Digital soldier(strobe effect severely dulled and some cels removed)

Yeah, I think all of the banned episodes had dumb reasons to be banned.
Well... except the "Beauty And The Beach" episode, of course.
Plus, now that I think of it, that episode with Porygon *had* a good reason for being banned...

First off, Meowth was not dressed as Hitler in the episode. It's a mustache, and he even says he's a fan of old detective movies, so he dresses up as an old detective. Second, there are guns in other episodes pointed at Ash, for example, another Safari Zone episode, when Officer Jenny hides as a Chansey and when she sees Ash try to catch a Gloom (I think) she gets up from the bushes and points a shotgun at him.
So I don't know why that episode was banned.
One difference is that in the banned episode, the man actively tries to shoot people. When Team Rocket shows up, they get about halfway through their motto, then the guy pulls out his gun and starts shooting at them. I'm guessing that's why this episode was banned.

You expect them to allow logic into the show. That would just be ridiculous.

Actually, in the electric soldier Porygon incident, only about 2 dozen kids got actual seizures, so there you have it. The rest just complained to their parents that they had headaches after watching the episode
Late reaction but, Porygon2 and porygon-Z were never shown in a pokemon episode after the light accident, but pikachu made the lights go in all those colors. Poor porygon got the blame, and i like porygon and its evolutions!

I remember Porygon appearing at the beginning of a Pokémon movie though. I think it was the third one, the one with Entei.

The scariest thing that happened to me in Pokemon was when I was a kid playing LeafGreen. I was in bed really late at night when everyone else had gone to bed, in a grass patch just battling some Pokemon over and over and then all of a sudden this GIANT BLUE DOG THING APPEARED IN BATTLE! I was so freaked out that I dropped the game and hid under the covers. It doesn't sound scary but at the time I had no idea what a Suicune was.
Uh, there were guns pointed at Ash long before The Legend of Dratini in the first season. It was the episode where Ash captures Squirtle. He runs into the store to get a Super Potion for Pikachu and the towns people all turn and point their firearms at Ash, thinking he was from Team Rocket. Why THAT episode wasn't banned, who knows.

Ep 12: Team Rocket holds up a store with an SMG and a bazooka, Ash get's held up at gunpoint by FOUR people, and Team Rocket bombs people. COMPLETLY FINE
The guns in EP 35 were held at a point-blank range of a person's face and even *fired at other people!* That's the big difference.

Here's another cool fact. After the children were sent to the hospital, a lot of things were being said about it. One of those that struck me hard, however, was the possibility of the series being canceled because of that one episode.
I loved the episodes when Ash faced Sabrina. The plot in those episodes were dark yet so cool at the same time. I have no idea what the writer's were thinking when they wrote the plot for James in the contest, though. I just found the episode on CZcams, too.
Actually, the inflatable boob episode was aired quite a few times in the UK, I don't even think it got banned as I saw it rerun quite a few times as a kid.

You know, despite Pokemon's problems with firearms, the Squirtle Squad still aired and Ash had five guns pointed to his head. Why didn't they ban that one, I wonder?

Okay, I get that Jynx's original coloring is offensive, but couldn't they have chosen a different color from purple for the recolored version? The purple really messes up the color scheme. Also, why were Jynx's sleeves changed to white? Is there something wrong with red sleeves that I don't know about?

It wasn't our decision,Maddie blaustien,the English voice actor for meowth did confirm that they did record lines for the episode,but due to Japan's worldwide ban on airing the episode anywhere prevented them for airing it to the public.
I think the OP is asking why Porygon never appeared in the anime since 1997, as did its evolutions. Pikachu caused the seizure-inducing explosion.
Porygon is kinda the face of the whole incident, and they don't want to remind us of this episode.

Im pretty sure Ash lived, but haunter was a troll and seperated him from his body.
Rebbie101 I think that haunter can manipulate spirits from bodies if the body isn't resistant enough such as being knocked out cold. The ghosts only wanted a friend to play with and they found their big chance by making Ash and Pikachu one of them.
So GTA can be released and kids are allowed to play it but an episode with a gun gets banned? Also meowth didnt dress up as hitler, that mustache wasnt at all like Adolfs

I love the Pokemon games a lot better. the TV series are just too fucked up for me.

Way back when I used to watch Pokemon, I always wondered why I never saw Porygon featured in any episodes even though I saw the other 149 (at the time) on TV. I was so eager to see at least one episode that included Porygon, just to hear its voice and to see how it does in battle.
Abra and the psychic showdown and the haunted episode were my favorite episode as a kid. I never forgot and I would watch them many times when I had the chance.
Pikachu died once, such as in "Dance and the Cocoon of Destruction" after being hit with Oblivion Wing, and Ash got a taste of Pikachu's feelings when Ash died in First Movie. It's like The First Movie but with the roles reversed, and it lasts less long than Ash's death. Pikachu also very nearly died after being shot with Raichu's Hyper Beam in an episode of Diamond and Pearl. It's interesting to note that although when Ash screamed Pikachu's name, they used an audio clip Ash's first voice actress saying "Pikachu!!!"

The newest series tackles death as well, via a Litten taking care of an elderly Stoutland , whom Ash takes to a Pokémon Center a few episodes later and Nurse Joy breaks down the news. They made it in a way that a tree nearby had a few leaves left and for each falling leaf, Stoutland's life shortened. Stoutland ran from the Pokémon Center with Litten but the next day, he left Litten alone. Litten looked at the tree and saw the final leaf fall. It was pretty sad.

There's also the Ghost of Maiden's Peak episode. That one freaked me out so badly as a kid.. T.T
Funny thing is, you can only get a photosensitive seizure if you have epilepsy with photosensitivity they dont just happen to random kids who happen to watch it, I have epilepsy so yup

Fun fact: Since they banned the porygon episode, they also didn't want any reminder of that episode to appear, so there are no other sightings of Porygon or its evolutions anywhere in the anime except for the opening scene of a movie or two.
The clip at 3:25 was the Spike series of Ren and Stimpy. Ren and Stimpy is still one of my favorite kids cartoons to this day, but the orignal series was less boob grabbing and more just like a shroom trip broken up in 14 min segments
The thing about kids getting seizures from electric soldier porygon is a myth. The kids just got migraines and the overly concerned parents rushed them to the hospital

Pokemon actually holds the record for 'Most epileptic seizures caused by a TV show'. Porygon and its evolutions never appear in a single episode after 'Porygon Computer Soldier' due to that.
I kept on thinking that I heard the Lavender Town theme the whole video, and I got really scared. Then I turned up the volume and found out that I am just stupid. :D

5:44 and Porygon, Porygon-2 or Porygon Z have never made a full anime appearance since, only in movie cameos at the beginning of one of the movies.
The warden with the gun looks so much like Clint Eastwood, I wonder if it was a Dirty Harry reference. I can't see why they didn't air that Porygon episode outside Japan when it was only a problem to them.
