This video is in no way affiliated with The LEGO Group and is published as an adult fan of LEGO (AFOL).
"Are you the jonkler?" needs to be memed
Thanks for explaining the opening references ngl I had no clue who any other James May was lol
Great video! I love your channel!
lol. I laughed so hard when I read your reply on brickset to the guy being an ass about your like and subscribe joke/plugs however many days ago it was. Fun to see it again here in your video. Your attitude to shake it off and have fun with it is perfect and inspiring.
I wish there weren’t so many crusty, angry people in brickset comments. Then again, I tend to argue with them which probably makes it worse.
Good fun your videos have been. looking forward to more!
Congrats on 1k mate! Loving the work as always 👍🏻
Why did you end up leaving the LEGO group?
Also congrats on 1k subs!!!
I mentioned it in this interview. :) brickset.com/article/106915
Thank you for answering my question about animals :D Luckily at least the City designers manage to include a lot of them still so we will get some great ones soon in a Jungle subtheme ;)
Great to hear answers to some of these questions! Hope it's not too much of a hassle when you get similar questions from a lot of different people like with the inevitable prints vs. stickers questions. Also hope nobody gives you any grief for not being able to give them the answers they want to hear to some of those questions, lol.
Side note, have you been growing your hair out longer? It's neat to see you trying a different look!
Thanks for the answer! Looking forward to more videos and articles!
Got a question for the next episode. How do you decide when a new element needs to be created or when a new colour does?
Thanks for the answers (guess that's the best we can get without having LEGO come and say it outright themselves) - however I personally would love a set to be GOOD (read have the proper prints where they need to be) instead of it being on a budget - I understand that the marketplace is quite cheap for the amount of stuff- , but it is especially annoying to have so many stickers for good and useful parts when we talk huge sets that are meant for 18+ audiences. Don't mind stickers on parts that would have never been made in printed form like one off easter eggs.
The animals bit was really useful. information I guess that's why a horse costs 6 Euro on PAB. Makes sense they would be almost as expensive to make as a minifig with the current level of quality.
This is great. How's Billund life? Having to move to a new country far from family was always a big sticking point that stopped me applying to Lego design roles, and I understand the weather's not exactly lovely either. How's your Danish?
Awesome insight, any tips for getting an intership as a set designer/ entry position?
At some point I plan to do a video on internship/my experience with the hiring process :)
Always great to watch a Q&A from a LEGO designer's perspective!
A little tip for the next one - it would help if you read the questions as written. Much better for the audience.
Noted 👌
yay 1k subs
Are you planning to make any MOCs? Are you on Rebrickable?
Great q and a video
4:23 I hope you make a video about it and other stuff you write brickset articles about. With a video there's more potential to be seen more over time, as opposed to a brickset article
5:47 thank you for answering my question
Maybe someone in the pricing department will leave lego for CZcams and explain
It's criminal you only have 1k subscribers.
A former designer who has worked on multiple themes and is now making content with knowledge that very few people on CZcams have and only 1000 people are interested???
Must be some algorithm shenanigans cause I find your content fascinating, I'm sure a bigger audience will find you soon enough.
My videos are short so my "hours watched" is quite low which doesn't help with the algorithm, but I'm not gonna make these videos longer than needed for engagement. I'm happy with my 1.1k in 6 weeks :)
But if you wanna see more subs, share the channel! ;P
@TiagoCatarino can confirm that if you give it a bit more time you'll get to the 500k mark. ;)
What is your favourite LEGO element, and why?
Very good question, definitely on the list for next Q&A
Hi James - in your opinion, what are the chances of Lego bringing back older themes like Adventurers or Rock Raiders? Even if only for one off sets rather than a full line?
Adding this to the next Q&A :)
