I'll never forget when I checked him in at the airport. I knew who he was immediately. (When I see famous people I get nervous but then remember they're just humans)....BUT Danny Elfman is an exceptional human. I asked him quietly, "Are you THE Mr. Elfman?" And he said with a smirk and a quirk in his voice, "Well I'm an Elfman!" Anyway s little chit chat later for him never to be seen again. He was super humble and kind. Whether or not that's true on a daily basis, he was in that moment and it makes me appreciate his talent even more!

I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr Elfman recently, he is very interested in making instruments and even makes some himself. Can confirm he is incredibly sweet and kind of shy and one of the most unique minds I have ever met, he thinks in such an amazing way.

I have always loved Danny Elfman, When I was a teen in California the best part of the year was Halloween with Oingo Boingo, one of my favorite bands of all time.
And the music of Beetlejuice was an incredible work of art.

I didn’t know who Danny Elfman was until I saw that he had been credited in pretty much all of Tim Burton’s movies. Edward Scissorhands is my favorite movie and Danny Elfman’s score was spot on.

Batman and Batman Returns are my personal favorites, but his most underrated score is Black Beauty. I would love to hear the backstory on that one.
Black Beauty IS a great Elfman score and one of the least Elfman-like.
Oingo Boingo (the band that their former frontman is apparently legally precluded from mentioning by name) released their final album in 1994. It's radically different from every album they made before then and employs the resources and experience that Elfman and Bartek built up over the years from their work on Batman and Edward Scissorhands.
Legally precluded? Any idea why?

@@julesmcgrules3860 He's not afaik, it's more that until until recently it appears that he was somewhat ashamed of the (in my humble opinion) monumental work with Oingo Boingo.
@@WeWillAlwaysHaveVALIS Yeah, I've always gotten this impression from his interviews also. He never seems to eager too speak of Oingo Boingo which is a shame because they were probably one of the greatest "nu wave" bands to emerge during the 80s.

He probably doesn't like talking about them because he and Sam Raimi got into a rather ugly feud when Sam wanted him to copy the temp music for a scene in S-2, and then replaced him with Christopher Young for the third film.
Genius! Batman, Batman Returns and Sleepy Hollow was amazing scores.
The fact that they used the Spanish version of The Simpsons theme makes my latina heart happy (the only difference is it says "Los Simpsons")

See I didn't even know he had written the Simpson theme song, but now that I do, I can definitely hear his touch on it. I think my favorite of his has to be Nightmare and Sleepy Hollow.

I'm confused. I love Danny Elfman but I never thought of the Simpson's theme as some sort of keystone of his career. I always, ever, knew that theme as a funny parody of the Jetsons theme song, which I thought was totally intentional - not to be taken seriously. I mean... it's pretty much the same theme... ... am I crazy?
