    I have had my dollamur mats for over eight years now and train with a few police officers. They trained in their full gear with the exception of we switch their side arm out for a training weapon. No holes, or tears in the mats yet even after rolling around on all that gear👍!!!

I have the old flexi rolls and use the vinyl tape and they peel up after a couple of months due to washing them. I plan on buying more because I love the mats(10 years old), but wasn’t sure if the Velcro had this issue. Thanks!

  • @Caneyhead123
    @Caneyhead123 Před 3 lety +2

    I have these mats. Everything he said is true. They are much softer than 1.5 tatami zebras. Very comfy in my opinion. I have a mixed environment and everyone tends to prefer to roll on these. I will say they puncture quite easily.
    A local gym matted out with 2” dollamurs. The cuts between the pads were too deep and broke through the surface in several places. The owners said dollamur refused to replace. I would just make sure there was an agreement.

    • @hard2hurt
      @hard2hurt  Před 5 lety +2

      I havent used the 2" ones... I dont know how much bulk that would add when rolled up. These 1.5" ones are fairly impact resistant... I would take a judo throw on one... but I can fall pretty well. We dont do a ton of throws or takedowns here so they haven't really been put to that test. I haven't tried the smooth but I do know I like the way the tatami looks so much better.

      @@hard2hurt I assume when you don't have the intention of rolling them up them each time, you don't really need the velcro. You can just place them one next to the other and tape them together to stay like that. With the veclro ones, don't you have the issue that you can get "stuck" between two matts? I think I would use it a bit grappling but most of the time to do standing work like kickboxing or karate.

      hard2hurt I just bought these mats with a smooth finish. I need it for bjj, I still have not received it. Should I call Dollamur and tell them I need tatami instead? I’m at such a crossroad because I read and hear that tatami gives may burns, but these newer mats have reduced friction. I also practice Muay Thai and JKD, and read that the smooth finish is better so stand up especially for those kicking. Would really appreciate your opinion. @@peteduarte9221 I see your are asking looking for the same answer a I once was l, and neither video helped entirely; I also need my mats for the same reason...stand up and ground work. I got the smooth mat and have no problems slipping while standing, nor gotten any mat burn while grappling. Here is a big but, once you get sweaty...even grappling is slippery. Also important, I have one mat. Although it's pretty big especially compared to those foldable mats, it's still kinda small. Good for a flow roll or a super controlled hard roll. To summarize, the quality of the product is great. I haven't used their tatami mats but I'll be ordering the connecting mats in tatami on my next purchase and would recommend you to do the same.
