I just started making these. I wanted to use pin nails, along with the glue, to hold the slates down but also add the nail holes for realism. However, the material altogether is less than a 1/2" so the nails were a no go. What I did instead was take the nails out of the nail gun and just dry fire where the nails would go. The driving pin of the nail gun added a slight hole which then gets accentuated by whatever finish I put on, giving me the illusion of real nails.
Love the look of the walnut and bubinga pallets.

Looks great. One problem though, there should be one piece in the middle that is broken in half lol. I have rarely seen a complete pallet lol.
