I grew up with anticipation waiting & staying up for the arsenio hall show to come on....Whenever i knew that Arsenio was interviewing Eddie Murphy, it was like an event in my household similar to how some folks look forward to watching a great sports event or going to the theater to watch a movie that they begged their parents to take them to! Now as a grown ass man i can see the authenticity in their friendship clearer as an adult. I literally thought that they were best friends as a child (who both just happen to be very talented, gifted and famous) and was thoroughly entertained by these interviews. Now as a full grown adult watching this with my personal nostalgia attached to this.... This shit is kind of deep. I peeped how Arsenio was trying to steer the interview into a place of black consciousness and trying to make Eddie speak more to the state of where black entertainers were respected or disrespected within the white dominated space of entertainment (hollywood). But i understood Eddie Murphy's stance in just coming on the show to promote his projects & to entertain (and kick it with his fellow successful friend in colleague) and also understood Arsenio's stance.
