Over 3 million fish here. Hazorea Aquatics Farm was nice enough to host us. We only had about an hour here which is not much time for filming. It was amazing to visit a facility where the maintain bio security. Our cameras and arms etc were sterilized with alcohol. We had to wear plastic covers over our shoes and legs.
This farm has over 3 million koi. This is an impressive amount. The clarity of the water, the sizes of the filtration, the huge race ways filled with water that connected the hundreds and hundreds of thousands of gallons of water, no expense was spared in caring for these fish.
While I was there I saw them mixing gelatin and vitamins and spraying pellet food in a cement mixer to further enhance vitamins for these fish.
Koi and carp in general are an excitable fish. Whenever we walked by them they would get very excited and cluster up and beg for food. The ponds were very deep to where we couldn't see the bottom, going much below the ground we walked on. They were also very long as well, seemed to be 40-50 feet long each. Originally I said I was going to make a video to defend against the internet saying it's cruel etc. I decided instead to highlight the farm and show what was cool. I would simply explain in the description and those who choose to read it would understand.
This fish farm in Israel, prides themselves on high quality. Sparing no expense so that they can provide koi all over the world. I myself would have no problem buying koi from this farm and importing them. I'm sure from only what is shown on video you may have a different opinion. I can say for sure that being there in person and meeting the people responsible all doubt would be removed.

There is nothing cool here i'm afraid and as for Biosecurity why are people there handling phones which are know to dirty dropping hair into the water, putting hands into water just that alone makes it not Biosecure.

Before judging ANY farm, one should educate themselves on the husbandry of that animal ;) this was an interesting video with gracious hosts.

It blows my mind how big these farms are and how much they can sell. Never realized the fish hobby was big business. I just got my 2 5 gallons with a pea puffer and a guppy pair lol

A pea puffer can do fine in a 2.5 on it's own as long as you're on top of the water conditions. Putting in a guppy pair with it though is a recipe for disaster. Pea puffers are very aggressive and territorial.
So the pea puffer is by itself in a 5 and the guppies are in a 5 lol. All heavily planted jungles. The guppy pear is so I feed the fry to the puffer so the food bill on him is way cheaper lol.

@@MadCheshireHat Yeah kinda made me laugh. However there are 4 guppies fry the pea puffer deemed not worthy to eat. I haven't been able to catch them. And they're getting bigger. Originally they were 1-5 day old fry. I'm just waiting for them to be big enough so I dont have to uproot all my nano plants.
Every now and then I run into someone who says they’re afraid of fish.... this would be their absolute nightmare lol

Love your vids Cory. Your my favourite aquarium channel and you've covered pretty much all the subjects I was curious about. My favourite video is the one from the mom and pop store in SF with all the old, grown in tanks. Seen that multiple times.

I work for a big corporate chain pet store. We order our koi from Apet! So cool to see in these videos where the animals come from that I work with every day.
What a way to spend a day. The way those Koi reacted when the feeder was turned on, unbelievable.

I think part of the reason people have a negative reaction to so many fish is, our waters are so overfished that we are simply not used to seeing that many fish in one location. Plus as hobbiests we are told the dangers of overcrowding, but really that danger stems from the fact that the majority of home fish tanks will never get enough water changes to keep up with the demand of a heavily stocked fish tank. I thought their facility was very cool, and the size and depth of the tanks were big enough for the stocking.

they prob die some of them without food, thats overcrowding, then they want u to have a huge tank for 2 gold fish, a turn around isnt that fast on selling fish.

I see what you mean by the fish crowding down one end of the tank and it looks over crowded. When in reality they do have a lot of room both down the other end and in the lower water. Those under water shots were amazing. Thanks for sharing Coopy

i think the main reson that it looks so crouded is because the fish flook towords them as they walk past. you can se there is empty space inn the containers
@@LightYerPipe those ponds are 5ft deep and 40+ft long. There's a massive amount of water in there. Also having fish that actively feed is a good thing. But you're not going to actually look at the facts
