Two warnings...as he stated, if you stay too close to the back of the vehicle after you lock it the trunk will pop open. You may walk away and not even notice (ask me how I know). I immediately disable that function. Also, I managed to do what you're not supposed to be able to do and lock the smart key inside. I used to toss my keys in the cupholder and once after going through the car wash, I got out to get rags out of the trunk When closing the trunk I accidentally (and unknowingly) hit the lock button which is right next to the close button. The trunk did not close so I hit the close button and walked back to the driver's door to discover it was locked. The entire car was locked with my keys, wallet and phone inside. The key was too far away from the trunk now for the proximity function to work and I had to call AAA for their lockout service.
2019 Sorento owner here. 1:18 No, you don't need to go a dealer to replace the battery. Just remove the physical key, carefully pry apart the unit, replace it with a CR2032. Great vehicle BTW!

I just purchased a '17 Sorento. So far I'm loving it. I have one question tho, how do you use the remote start. I cant figure it out. BTW, LOVE the videos. They are so informative and way easier than trying to figure our the owner's manual!
So on that year, the dealers would have had a choice of a few aftermarket remote start systems. I won't know how to instruct you on that piece. Later years have remote start from the factory, and they all work the same year. You'll probably have to check with your dealer so that they can identify which remote start system was used, and then explain how to use it.
I just bought a 2020 Kia Sorento - didn’t plan on it but I am starting to really love it. The dealership, sadly, not so much. They didn’t tell me ANY of this. I thought I disabled something because my hatch wouldn’t auto open when I stood behind it. The 45 second info was so helpful! Haha, I get a lot of views from people whose "Dealer didn't tell them any of that" which is why we always encourage anybody in the area to deal with us. Our customers know what they purchased, and they know how to use the vehicles, and if they have questions, we do our homework to make sure we understand their vehicles too! Your mirrors should fold in. If you look at where you adjust the mirrors the rocker switch at the very top of those buttons should have an AUTO setting. Tip it left and the mirrors stay out, tip it right and they stay in, and leave it in the middle, and they should open and close either when you're near the vehicle, or when you unlock the vehicle. Secondly, if you leave the mirror glass adjustment with the right or left mirror button lit up, the mirrors will tilt down when you put the car in reverse allowing you to see the parking lot lines when you're backing into a space. I hope that all makes sense, and helps you out!
I can't believe on the higher trims like the SX and SXL. That remote start wasn't included. Every other manufacturer offers it right from the keyfob itself. I heard you need a separate keyfob to start these Sorentos. I'm looking at an aftermarket for my 2020 SX.
Peter, could you make a video on Kia's electronic parking break system? How does it work? Is it an electric motor that tightens a wire to the rear breaks? to the front breaks? How does it stay on all night while the car is parked? Does it need electric current at all times to work? Can it drain the battery if you are parked for a week at the airport? How do you release the parking break? Can it release automatically when you select gears? How does the Auto-hold or the hill assist functions work? Do these systems use the same electronic parking mechanism? I think you would have enough material in those questions for a very interesting short video. Thanks for all your work! Hi Peter, I've recently become the proud owner of a pre-loved Sportage GT-Line MY20 (in Australia) and the previous owner mentioned that he'd disabled the Smart Tailgate function. I've re-enabled that function in the Settings Menu however, the proximity Smart Tailgate function still fails to work. The car senses the key if near the passenger or driver door such that those door buttons work. Any ideas why the Smart Tailgate might not work please? cheers, Marcus
Hi & thank you! Yesterday I got out of my (new to me) 2017 KIA Sorento EX and pulled up to a convenience store. I left the car running with the FOB inside as I ran 20 feet into front door, grabbed a flier and popped back to my car but the doors were locked. Fortunately my back window was down so I was able to get into car but I'm not sure why the doors locked. Most things I read say the doors won't lock if FOB is inside and car is on? However mine did. I'm hoping to keep them unlocked while still running if I jump out for a quick second. Thank you!
No. Many are Key Start, some are pushbutton. It depends on what year, and what trim you're interested in. For 2020 Forte's in Canada the EX Premium and above have the Smart Key.

I didnt notice this was for a Kia Smart Key but i thought I'd have a watch but i don't think these instructions will help me as i bought a preowned 2015 Kia Picanto Hatchback 1litre 2nd Gen about 4 months ago & its in excellent condition & maybe like most i didn't try using the Unlock Boot or Trunk when In America until i really needed to... I picked up a 2015 Kia Picanto Hatchback 1litre 2nd Gen & ive been pleasantly surprised by it but i never felt the need to use the unlock boot or trunk until recently but the few times i've tried when my hands were full with shopping & it would not unlock & or open!.. I know i need to hold down the boot/trunk icon on my car key fob but it still wont open yet it unlocks all my other 4 doors!.. Any help with ideas will help as i've been caught a few times in weather which has seen a lot of snow fall & i'd like the boot or trunk to open by remote so its ready for me as i try not not fall on my backside because of icy & snow covered parking areas... lol I'd appreciate any information & also if other Kia Picanto owner's had this same boot/trunk that wouldnt open by using the key fob!... ok in the winter time when its -20C how are you able to defrost the windows using the remote start feature with the automatic climate control on the 2022 sorento. I set the heater to the defrost and fan on hi when i leave the car, and when i remote start it. the settings change... its so frustrating when the car runs for 20 minutes and the defrost fan isnt on and the car is cold and windows not clear... i need help on how to set up the heating controls so that they defrost or run the defrost and fan when using the remote start feature in winter

I got the 2015 kia Rando, the dealer said it has auto start jut it never does. It did not come with the second key fob though. I was told to hit lock button once tale gate one after but it never starts. Could it be that the feature is not available. I javelin everything else you talked about here.

The key fob does not operate the windows. On most of our Smart Key vehicles, when you touch the handle to lock the car, the vehicle will not lock. That does not mean that the vehicle can't be locked with the key inside. Several of our vehicles can do this.

One thing. I have the model car you're showing. A 2019 Sorrento Sx Limited Series in Dragon Brown. The hatch will always open as long as the car is unlocked and you don't need the key to open if the car is unlocked.
Peter, could you kindly tell me does the 2021 key fob for Sedona or Carnival have a function to disable the car as an anti-theft device ? I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to. The key fob can only lock, or unlock the doors, and open and close some of the doors based on the trim line. It wouldn't disable the car. So I'm not sure how to answer your question. On the newer cars with the remote starter on the key fob, you can press the LOCK button, and then the Remote Start button immediately after, and the car will start. I hope that helps a little.
I just got a 2021 Kia k5 gt line. Is there any tricks or features of the key fob like say rolling down the windows? Also since you mentioned it, if my key fob battery is ever dead, where would I use the physical key to enter the vehicle?

I have a new '22 Sorento Xline Prestige SX AWD. After turning off and exiting the car my key fob/smartkey is useless for about 3 minutes then it works again. It happens with both fobs. I've checked vehicle settings but nothing seems to make sense what could be the cause. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi, Great video. I have a 2017 kia Sorento with manual hatch , not powered. In your Video you show that by walking to the rear hatch and pressing the handle pad the hatch unlocks, if you have the key fob in the proximity . My vehicle worked like that, but i has stopped. The hatch button on the fob unlocks it ok with no problems. Is there a programming feature that may be turned off? How do I restore this feature,. Thanks
I'm not sure that I understand how to fix what's going on. The best thing might be to just ask the your local dealer's service department. They should be able to figure it out pretty quickly.
Something i discovered about the smart key in my 2022 Kia Sportage is that if the doors are locked it also locks the gas cover not sure if that is the same on all models but i found this out accidentally when i couldn't figure why my gas cover wouldn't allow me to push open the cover until i unlocked the doors

Interesting question. I don't think there is a way to disable that. If there is a way, I don't know about it. They did redesign our keys to make them harder to accidentally hit a button on the newest keys, but I don't have a solution for you. I'm sorry.
2016 Kia Sedona here - is there a way to remote start the car just using the smart key? I know there is an optional extra small remote start specific fob, but I have read various rumors online about remote starting the car just using the smart key fob (perhaps holding the lock button and open tailgate?).
Many previous remote start systems were able to use the factory fob with some combination of buttons. We currently offer a system that allows you to start the newest vans with the standard fob. You may have to check with your dealer about your particular system. Long story short, MANY of the systems that we've used in the past are able to be used with the standard fob. The reason we offer a second fob is because that fob has significantly more range than the factory fob.
That sounds like something that may have to be checked by a service department. If you're in a very cold environment where condensation may form inside, and turn to ice overnight, I've seen that prevent it from working once... but literally only once. So I would just see if warmer weather solves things, it could be a one-time thing. Otherwise, you may want to check with your service department.
Hello, is it possible to disable the light in the dash board when I open the rear door or side door? The reason I'm asking is that I have a tent that fits in the back of my van (sedona 2020) and if I leave the back door open, the dash board indicates that the door is open and I imagine it will drain my battery. Can I bypass the door sensor? Thank you.
You can turn off the interior lights, but the small little dashboard light, I don't think you can disable without disconnecting the battery. If it's just that tiny little red light, then it won't draw much power at all, and you should have no problem starting the car after a weekend, but if there is more battery drain, then you'll have to be aware of that, as you mention here. I'm not sure what stays on, and what is off if the doors or trunk are open.
Question: in case i had the key fob with me but the vehicle's engine was running and i was standing just outside the vehicle and someone got into the driver's seat, is it possible to shutdown the engine remotely using the key fob? KIA Sportage 2014
No, that's not possible. If you start the car and then get out, and the key is not in the car, the car can be driven until the vehicle is turned off, but there is no way to remotely shut down the car.
I have a 2019 Soul with the smart key. Any way to unroll the windows without getting into the car? In my 2007 VW I could put the key in the door and unroll the windows by twisting/holding to unlock. This was nice on hot days to let the heat out of the car before I got in.
i have a 2017 sorento and my remote starter which is separate from the smart key but was installed by kia will not remote start, it beeps three times. Any thoughts? also, i do not have a power trunk opener, is there a way to still use the remote to open the trunk? THX!
Remote starter questions will have to be directed to the dealer that installed them. Although there are approved remote starters from the manufacturer, sometimes they can vary per region or over time. As far as opening the trunk with the remote, you can unlock just the trunk with the remote even if your trunk isn't powered. But you won't be able to open it with the remote.
My smart key got locked in my 2017 Sportage SX last week. The key was in my coat and I put it in the cargo area, power gate lowered and that was it. Had to have my wife drive an hour with her key to get in. Is there a problem with my key or car?
No, there's a false belief out there that you cannot lock the key in the car. As you know this can definitely happen if you use the trunk. There are times where people DO want to lock the keys in the car, in my family, my wife will sometimes leave her purse or jacket in the car with her key, while I have the key on me. If you use the trunk, you can absolutely lock the key in the car. I'm sorry that you were inconvenienced by this!
Is it the same for the passenger side button too?? Can the passenger unlock the car before the driver does in his/her side? How does the passenger side button work?
The passenger side button unlocks all the doors on every car that I've used. The passenger would need to have the proximity key fob on them in order to work that button.
The UVO Intelligence App won't work with your car, but you can get remote start for it. Check with your local Kia dealer and they should be able to help you out.

I saw your previous comment, but I didn't see you mention the EX model. In Canada, the EX and above do have the privacy cover, so it should be included with your vehicle.

@@sandyrodriquez7999 it may be designed to prevent that from happening. The only way that I know of to keep the car running is to use a remote starter. You would have to turn the car off, re-start it using the remote starter etc. Other than that, I'm not sure if there is a way.
I'm using android auto on my 2017 kia sportage. When I set a destination, I get turns and u turns that are not right. I set a destination two turns down the road and it sent me off track and then asked for u turns. Every thing else is operating fine. Please tell me what I have done wrong.
Android Auto uses Google Maps, and the routing options that the system chooses are Google's choices. There's nothing to change in the car. Perhaps a future Android Auto or Google Maps software update can fix this? I'm not sure how to help.

Your car may be equipped with a remote starter. I can't say for sure how to start it, but try LOCK LOCK HORN (Panic button) and see if that works, otherwise you'll have to check with the dealer to see what types of remote start systems they may have used.
It does come with a remote starter, and with its own controller. Is it because of this I am able to start it with the smart key controls? I was able to start it again but next time I will make note of the sequence of buttons I pressed I do have a general idea of which one's they are. I believe the sequence is the same as the ones with the key fob.
Hi, I got my lx plus sorento 2020 and it seems like the only way to open the trunk is manually. I have the smart key with the trunk button but nothing happens of I press it. Is that the way it is? Or should I bring that back to the dealer? I checked on the door menu and there is no option for the power or smart tailgate.
If you don't have a powered tailgate then you won't have a smart tailgate. We're based in Canada so many of our trims are slightly different than American cars, or other cars from around the world. In your case, if the tailgate isn't powered, then your button simply unlocks JUST the trunk. I always caution our customers about this button, because if you unlock ONLY the trunk, and accidentally drop your keys in the vehicle, it's possible that your vehicle could be locked with the key inside. I always use the full unlock buttons just in case.
You can press the key fob to the start button and it should start. But be aware that when your car tells you that your key fob battery needs to be replaced, you should prioritize getting it replaced.
The features on my key fob on sorento six is not working, this happened after battery was removed for 2 weeks, need help what to do have this back and working
It's nearly impossible for me to diagnose this online. I recommend connecting with your local Kia Dealership. Having said that, the most common issue I see with people who replace the battery on the key fob is that the new battery is put in upside down. If you're referring to the battery in your Sorento, then again, I'd recommend that you connect with your local Kia dealership's service department.

Thanks for the tip! I've done some other trunk related videos since this was filmed several years ago. I think I've covered most of the features, but not necessarily in one single video.
That's a tough one for me to diagnose online. I would suggest checking in with your local dealer. Sometimes it's a quick 10 second fix, or a setting, but if there's an issue, they'll know if they need to take a look at it. Also, if there is a warranty claim involved, they can handle it from there.
If you are using your remote key fob, it is set to a certain amount (usually 10 minutes or less) and to the best of my knowledge, it can't be adjusted. The UVO Intelligence App it can be adjusted, but again, it can't exceed 10 minutes.
It sounds like your key fob battery is low. There should be a slot in the glove compartment that fits the key fob. That will allow your car to start, but you'll need to get the battery replaced in your fob for it to work like normal again.
I haven't seen the new K5 yet. The Kia Seltos has a remote starter on its keyfob as an extra button to do that. Perhaps the K5 will be similar? I'll know more when I see the car.

My driver side door won’t open unless I push it 4-5 times but it will open all of the passenger doors. I have replaced the battery but it still doesn’t work correctly. Help!!

@@BrantfordKia On our 2017 Kia Sportage, after you remote start it and then get inside (with your key on you) to drive away, you MUST DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH THE START BUTTON BEFORE SHIFTING INTO GEAR.
If the battery is low, you use the key fob to press the start button. That will work until the key fob is completely dead. If you're getting the "Key fob battery low" warning, it's best to get the battery changed soon.
Usually, when the key fob battery runs low, your vehicle will warn you. If you get in the vehicle and absolutely no lights turn on, and there's no power at all, it's probably the vehicle and not the fob.
I have a 2020 Optima. I have locked myself out a couple of times now. I started my car and then went out to move another car. ( I was 20 -30 feet from my car with my key fob in my pocket) When I got back to my car it had locked itself and was still running. Neither the door button or key fob would unlock it. I had to use the actual key to unlock it. Another time the car was in ACC mode and I had left me key in the console. When I went back to it after 5 minutes it had locked itself and would not open with the door button. I had to pop the plastic cover again and use my wife's manual key. I am thinking I should keep a manual key on my person at all times! Anyone have any ideas. I am very nervous using this system.

Haha. This is actually pretty simple. Maybe we'll have to make a video about it. You take the key out of the remote, then you can use that to pry the key apart, and replace the battery.
The trunk button on the Kia Soul simply unlocks ONLY the trunk for a short time. If you do not open the trunk right away, it will lock again on it's own.

Peter, could you make a video on Kia's electronic parking break system? How does it work? Is it an electric motor that tightens a wire to the rear breaks? to the front breaks? How does it stay on all night while the car is parked? Does it need electric current at all times to work? Can it drain the battery if you are parked for a week at the airport? How do you release the parking break? Can it release automatically when you select gears? How does the Auto-hold or the hill assist functions work? Do these systems use the same electronic parking mechanism?
I think you would have enough material in those questions for a very interesting short video. Thanks for all your work!

Hi Peter, I've recently become the proud owner of a pre-loved Sportage GT-Line MY20 (in Australia) and the previous owner mentioned that he'd disabled the Smart Tailgate function. I've re-enabled that function in the Settings Menu however, the proximity Smart Tailgate function still fails to work. The car senses the key if near the passenger or driver door such that those door buttons work. Any ideas why the Smart Tailgate might not work please? cheers, Marcus
Hi & thank you! Yesterday I got out of my (new to me) 2017 KIA Sorento EX and pulled up to a convenience store. I left the car running with the FOB inside as I ran 20 feet into front door, grabbed a flier and popped back to my car but the doors were locked. Fortunately my back window was down so I was able to get into car but I'm not sure why the doors locked. Most things I read say the doors won't lock if FOB is inside and car is on? However mine did. I'm hoping to keep them unlocked while still running if I jump out for a quick second. Thank you!

No. Many are Key Start, some are pushbutton. It depends on what year, and what trim you're interested in. For 2020 Forte's in Canada the EX Premium and above have the Smart Key.

I picked up a 2015 Kia Picanto Hatchback 1litre 2nd Gen & ive been pleasantly surprised by it but i never felt the need to use the unlock boot or trunk until recently but the few times i've tried when my hands were full with shopping & it would not unlock & or open!..

ok in the winter time when its -20C how are you able to defrost the windows using the remote start feature with the automatic climate control on the 2022 sorento. I set the heater to the defrost and fan on hi when i leave the car, and when i remote start it. the settings change... its so frustrating when the car runs for 20 minutes and the defrost fan isnt on and the car is cold and windows not clear... i need help on how to set up the heating controls so that they defrost or run the defrost and fan when using the remote start feature in winter

I got the 2015 kia Rando, the dealer said it has auto start jut it never does. It did not come with the second key fob though. I was told to hit lock button once tale gate one after but it never starts. Could it be that the feature is not available. I javelin everything else you talked about here.

The key fob does not operate the windows. On most of our Smart Key vehicles, when you touch the handle to lock the car, the vehicle will not lock. That does not mean that the vehicle can't be locked with the key inside. Several of our vehicles can do this.

In Canada, the 2021 Kia Sorento SX model has folding mirrors, in the U.S. it does not. I'm not sure why.

One thing. I have the model car you're showing. A 2019 Sorrento Sx Limited Series in Dragon Brown. The hatch will always open as long as the car is unlocked and you don't need the key to open if the car is unlocked.

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to. The key fob can only lock, or unlock the doors, and open and close some of the doors based on the trim line. It wouldn't disable the car. So I'm not sure how to answer your question. On the newer cars with the remote starter on the key fob, you can press the LOCK button, and then the Remote Start button immediately after, and the car will start. I hope that helps a little.
I just got a 2021 Kia k5 gt line. Is there any tricks or features of the key fob like say rolling down the windows? Also since you mentioned it, if my key fob battery is ever dead, where would I use the physical key to enter the vehicle?

I have a new '22 Sorento Xline Prestige SX AWD. After turning off and exiting the car my key fob/smartkey is useless for about 3 minutes then it works again. It happens with both fobs. I've checked vehicle settings but nothing seems to make sense what could be the cause. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a 2017 kia Sorento with manual hatch , not powered. In your Video you show that by walking to the rear hatch and pressing the handle pad the hatch unlocks, if you have the key fob in the proximity . My vehicle worked like that, but i has stopped.
The hatch button on the fob unlocks it ok with no problems.

I'm not sure that I understand how to fix what's going on. The best thing might be to just ask the your local dealer's service department. They should be able to figure it out pretty quickly.

Something i discovered about the smart key in my 2022 Kia Sportage is that if the doors are locked it also locks the gas cover not sure if that is the same on all models but i found this out accidentally when i couldn't figure why my gas cover wouldn't allow me to push open the cover until i unlocked the doors

Interesting question. I don't think there is a way to disable that. If there is a way, I don't know about it. They did redesign our keys to make them harder to accidentally hit a button on the newest keys, but I don't have a solution for you. I'm sorry.
2016 Kia Sedona here - is there a way to remote start the car just using the smart key? I know there is an optional extra small remote start specific fob, but I have read various rumors online about remote starting the car just using the smart key fob (perhaps holding the lock button and open tailgate?).
Many previous remote start systems were able to use the factory fob with some combination of buttons. We currently offer a system that allows you to start the newest vans with the standard fob. You may have to check with your dealer about your particular system. Long story short, MANY of the systems that we've used in the past are able to be used with the standard fob. The reason we offer a second fob is because that fob has significantly more range than the factory fob.

That sounds like something that may have to be checked by a service department. If you're in a very cold environment where condensation may form inside, and turn to ice overnight, I've seen that prevent it from working once... but literally only once. So I would just see if warmer weather solves things, it could be a one-time thing. Otherwise, you may want to check with your service department.

Hello, is it possible to disable the light in the dash board when I open the rear door or side door? The reason I'm asking is that I have a tent that fits in the back of my van (sedona 2020) and if I leave the back door open, the dash board indicates that the door is open and I imagine it will drain my battery. Can I bypass the door sensor? Thank you.
You can turn off the interior lights, but the small little dashboard light, I don't think you can disable without disconnecting the battery. If it's just that tiny little red light, then it won't draw much power at all, and you should have no problem starting the car after a weekend, but if there is more battery drain, then you'll have to be aware of that, as you mention here. I'm not sure what stays on, and what is off if the doors or trunk are open.

No, that's not possible. If you start the car and then get out, and the key is not in the car, the car can be driven until the vehicle is turned off, but there is no way to remotely shut down the car.

I have a 2019 Soul with the smart key. Any way to unroll the windows without getting into the car? In my 2007 VW I could put the key in the door and unroll the windows by twisting/holding to unlock. This was nice on hot days to let the heat out of the car before I got in.

Remote starter questions will have to be directed to the dealer that installed them. Although there are approved remote starters from the manufacturer, sometimes they can vary per region or over time. As far as opening the trunk with the remote, you can unlock just the trunk with the remote even if your trunk isn't powered. But you won't be able to open it with the remote.

No, there's a false belief out there that you cannot lock the key in the car. As you know this can definitely happen if you use the trunk. There are times where people DO want to lock the keys in the car, in my family, my wife will sometimes leave her purse or jacket in the car with her key, while I have the key on me. If you use the trunk, you can absolutely lock the key in the car. I'm sorry that you were inconvenienced by this!

The passenger side button unlocks all the doors on every car that I've used. The passenger would need to have the proximity key fob on them in order to work that button.

The UVO Intelligence App won't work with your car, but you can get remote start for it. Check with your local Kia dealer and they should be able to help you out.

@@sandyrodriquez7999 it may be designed to prevent that from happening. The only way that I know of to keep the car running is to use a remote starter. You would have to turn the car off, re-start it using the remote starter etc. Other than that, I'm not sure if there is a way.
I'm using android auto on my 2017 kia sportage. When I set a destination, I get turns and u turns that are not right. I set a destination two turns down the road and it sent me off track and then asked for u turns. Every thing else is operating fine. Please tell me what I have done wrong.
Android Auto uses Google Maps, and the routing options that the system chooses are Google's choices. There's nothing to change in the car. Perhaps a future Android Auto or Google Maps software update can fix this? I'm not sure how to help.
Hi I started my 2017 forte a couple of times with the smart key unintentionally. I was told from dealer that you cant start car with the smart key but they are not correct about this. I am unable to remember the sequence of buttons to push, do you know the sequence of buttons to get vehicle to start?
Your car may be equipped with a remote starter. I can't say for sure how to start it, but try LOCK LOCK HORN (Panic button) and see if that works, otherwise you'll have to check with the dealer to see what types of remote start systems they may have used.
It does come with a remote starter, and with its own controller. Is it because of this I am able to start it with the smart key controls? I was able to start it again but next time I will make note of the sequence of buttons I pressed I do have a general idea of which one's they are. I believe the sequence is the same as the ones with the key fob.

Hi, I got my lx plus sorento 2020 and it seems like the only way to open the trunk is manually. I have the smart key with the trunk button but nothing happens of I press it. Is that the way it is? Or should I bring that back to the dealer? I checked on the door menu and there is no option for the power or smart tailgate.
If you don't have a powered tailgate then you won't have a smart tailgate. We're based in Canada so many of our trims are slightly different than American cars, or other cars from around the world. In your case, if the tailgate isn't powered, then your button simply unlocks JUST the trunk. I always caution our customers about this button, because if you unlock ONLY the trunk, and accidentally drop your keys in the vehicle, it's possible that your vehicle could be locked with the key inside. I always use the full unlock buttons just in case.
How do you use the manual key to start the Kia Sportage if the key fob battery is dead?
You can press the key fob to the start button and it should start. But be aware that when your car tells you that your key fob battery needs to be replaced, you should prioritize getting it replaced.

Depending on the system or the car, yes. If you're using UVO Intelligence on a newer vehicle, you can customize the time right from the app.

It's nearly impossible for me to diagnose this online. I recommend connecting with your local Kia Dealership. Having said that, the most common issue I see with people who replace the battery on the key fob is that the new battery is put in upside down. If you're referring to the battery in your Sorento, then again, I'd recommend that you connect with your local Kia dealership's service department.

That's a tough one for me to diagnose online. I would suggest checking in with your local dealer. Sometimes it's a quick 10 second fix, or a setting, but if there's an issue, they'll know if they need to take a look at it. Also, if there is a warranty claim involved, they can handle it from there.

If you are using your remote key fob, it is set to a certain amount (usually 10 minutes or less) and to the best of my knowledge, it can't be adjusted. The UVO Intelligence App it can be adjusted, but again, it can't exceed 10 minutes.
My 2013 Kia Optima asked me to stick the car key in the glovebox then I can push the start button so why or what's wrong, help please.
It sounds like your key fob battery is low. There should be a slot in the glove compartment that fits the key fob. That will allow your car to start, but you'll need to get the battery replaced in your fob for it to work like normal again.

I haven't seen the new K5 yet. The Kia Seltos has a remote starter on its keyfob as an extra button to do that. Perhaps the K5 will be similar? I'll know more when I see the car.

I have a 2020 Optima. I have locked myself out a couple of times now. I started my car and then went out to move another car. ( I was 20 -30 feet from my car with my key fob in my pocket) When I got back to my car it had locked itself and was still running. Neither the door button or key fob would unlock it. I had to use the actual key to unlock it.
Another time the car was in ACC mode and I had left me key in the console. When I went back to it after 5 minutes it had locked itself and would not open with the door button. I had to pop the plastic cover again and use my wife's manual key. I am thinking I should keep a manual key on my person at all times!

No, not on this model. On the new Kia Carnival it can open all of the doors, but I don't believe any model allows the windows to be opened as of now.

The trunk button on the Kia Soul simply unlocks ONLY the trunk for a short time. If you do not open the trunk right away, it will lock again on it's own.
