Good colour choice, really suits the car. I would never have thought about banging a turbo an old 138 Grey. And would not believe the power it puts out now. Awesome Ute, really well done, sounds and looks great.

Fun fact, years ago I had a mate with a ski boat that had an inboard grey motor. It absolutely flew! Apparently it was a popular thing, water cooled manifold and such for a grey motor we’re off the shelf.

This brought back some memories of the 70s. We had a bright yellow FX ute with turbo 186 motor (built by Wayne Mankhen). 4 speed box, Fiat 2300 disc brake rear end, HR disc brake front. Surprised a GT Falcon when we went around him on the Midland Hwy and he couldn't catch us. She was a bit squirrely at 140mph though :) Better at lower speed for sure.

If your going to modify a grey motor definitely the EJ is the best due to constant upgrades over the years.

For those interested in the grey motors place in Australia's car culture, look on the FI nostalgia forum where lot s of info has been posted about the great things that people did to increase power out put of grey engines back in the 50's and 60's because better race engines just wren't available in Australia. Affordable ones that is. Things like Phil Irving's Repco head as an example. Waggots cams ,which actually worked ,I've even seen a barrel valve race engine based on a grey motor.
