9 SCALES in ONE solo? - Solo Creation Guide

- Can we play 9 different scales in one single guitar solo? Yes we can! In this crystal clear video I’ll show you how to come up with a chord progression that is perfect for a guitar solo using 9 different scales and still sounds musical and logical. I’ll use modes (like phrygian, Locrian, Dorian and Lydian) other scales (like harmonic minor, diminished scale, dominant pentatonic scale and altered scale) to create an interesting harmonic landscape. You’ll learn how to glue chords from different keys together as a logical progression with common notes and I’ll do a crystal clear breakdown of the guitar solo in this 10 minutes “modulation extravaganza” video!

u ben eller and late night lessons are my fave guitar teachers on yt
Ben Eller and Mr. Brewster are great! If you like educational content like this, Jake Lizzio at Signals Music Studio is one of the very best as well!
This is probably the best lesson so far. The Locrian and Half-Whole Diminished solo sections pleasantly surprised the listener... and shredding paper was a good one :) - keep up the good work! And the humour...
I hope to be able to resume my Patreon support fairly soon.
Amazing
Great lesson Rob, many thanks
that solo was beautiful!!!
There's no need to be shred as long as you can make such awesome solo ideas... I'm a kind of guy who like meaningful knowledgeable solos than shredding solos... Keep doing this awesome lessons videos... These are very helpful for me... ❤
Many thanks Rob. You are an inspiration indeed.
Veramente bello e interessante questo video. Bravo
I'll be honest....when I saw the thumbnail for this video in my feed, my first thought was "Oh BLOODY HELL....9 scales in a guitar solo? This isn't a guitar solo, this is wankery."
But, I clicked on the video anyway....and I am VERY glad that I did!
Your breakdown of how you put this together, and seeing you play it was nothing short of brilliant.
I'm sorry for judging the book by its cover....and I LOVE the book.
Thank you for this imma practice some of these ! And thank you for using the same guitar that I own, makes it more enjoyable for me to watch, idk why?? But I love my Stranberg❤
This was a great lesson. Thanks
Great and instructive lesson,thanks.
Fantastico!!🤩 🤩
Most potential and pure music teacher.💝
I’d buy the Rob van Hal signature Strandberg in a heartbeat… just saying 🫡
Brilliant.

Breakdown about style guthrie govan use scale please🙏
SUPER
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
How about turn it around a bit. How many scales can you put in fewest possible chords? And take the A minor as in this video.
Also a great idea!
is that modal mixture?
👍
I see the AmMaj9 that you have labeled but don't you have and AmMaj7add9 in the diagram? I'm curious in case I see this written this way, should I always assume the 7th?
Indeed
If the 7th degree and 9th degree is present in a chord, then it is an extended chord and not a "added-tone" chord.
So C-E-G-B-D is a Cmaj9 chord and C-E-G-D is a Cadd9 chord
The minor-major 7 chord is determined by the minor 3rd and major 7rh degree, so the 7th has to be present and therefor it can't be an added-tone chord.
Yeah… but rocket science is easy for a rocket scientist 😢
