Setting up my new betta fish tank

- 1) Heater (Optional)
Is not necessary if you live in a tropical countries.
(I am living in Malaysia and the water temperature is around 25°-28°). If you live in a countries with four seasons, you will be needed a heater.
2) Air pump (Optional)
Is not necessary to have an air pump. Betta fish can survive without an air pump because they have a special respiratory organ called a labyrinth. Therefore, they just need very small amounts of oyxgen. If you are keeping betta fish with other types of fish, then you will be needed an air pump.
3) Aquarium filter (Optional)
I don't install a filter because I do changes the water regularly. (Twice a week, 50% of the water every time). If you install a filter, please make sure the water flow is not too strong because they like calmer waters.
NOTE:
Acclimate your fish before placing it into the tank.
Bad water condition, stress or hungry will lead to Betta fish jump out from the tank.
Healthy Fish: Swimming around.
Unhealthy Fish: Sinking at the bottom or hiding always.
Please read description for more information. Thanks.
Can I known big stone name and what type of soil i wank to make it for my room
Ok
You should do an update of your betta.
@@waiyanvlog987 just pls get a tank 5 times that size .That is minimum for a betta fish
ThinFrog ur tank is 5 times smaller than the minimum tank size for a betta . Not to mention u dont have a filter, enough plants and hides . Hv u thought abt where its gonna sleep, where it will hide if it gets spooked or will it jump ?
This actually frustrates me! Don't copy this person.
1. A betta fish needs MORE than a 5.5L tank.
2. It needs a lid because it can, and will, jump out. - once he does that when you're not home or asleep; dead.
3. Use a filter. Even if you clean regularly; you don't just want the fish to survive, you want the fish to enjoy his home.
4. More plants. People talk about betta fish being able to breath air from the surface, but that should be an emergency measure when there's a lack or oxygen.
Remember, these fish didn't choose to be your pet. You took it home. So you better make damn sure they have a paradise to live in or you shouldn't keep them.
My tank have no filter but I have a lot of plants inside it and I added co2 everyday plus I have Bamboo shrimp to filter feed the algae and the left over food.
My bettas never jumped. They jump because of poor water condition, if the water is clean they won’t jump
It will only jump out if it's too stressed in the environment it's in. If yours tried to, you did something very wrong.
Betta fish are naturally very playful fish, people here saying there fish have never jumped, sorry, but your fish could be depressed or bored. Try putting a small mirror in, only for ten minutes because too long and it can stress your betta, but this will encourage him to flare and provide him with something other than swimming in circles.
Finally someone knows what they do
I advise people watching this and the person that made this to add a filtration system with that small of a tank with hardly any plants.
Filtration isn't the best way for betta
appreciate that this man is putting a nice decently environment for it and is atleast trying and not just having him in a jar
It's beautiful but lacks of plants, especially surface plants, bettas don't love intense light :^)

I personally try to offer my fish a good life. This means, specially with bettas, lots of real plants and some companions they don’t attack (Nerite, shrimps). They get bored easily. I would not want to spend my life in an empty prison where I would have no privacy, nor would I wish this life for someone else. Fish do have emotions, they are just more instinct-driven and their feelings are not as complex as human feelings.
You sound like a good fish keeper who won't put his fish in a bowl
Brilliant comment. It’s so refreshing to see someone who genuinely cares about the welfare of their fish!

@@Ummmmmkay88 I was just trying to say the bigger the better. While your bettas might be able to live in 2.5 gallons, I can assure you that they'd thrive in a larger tank, as would any fish you can own
This kind of tank would be a much better set up for bettas in stores compared to the little cups they're kept in but as permanent housing I'd go with smth larger, especially something longer for more horizontal swimming space and more decor/plants and places to hide or explore
Too much space needed for so many bettas. The reason why you buy your betta is to make them healthier and better. The cups are used to sell them in a massive scale, if you use this much space foe each betta, you're actually wasting plenty of opportunitiest to sell other fishes
@@SorianoK16 what about the walls filled with tanks and fish already in pet stores?? They already clearly have enough space, plus females can be kept in sororities which will save space given they can be kept multiple to a tank
@@kirbykinnie3691 They can't be kept together in a tank. The stores would have to keep 1 single betta in each tank, so it'd take up the space for other species. (The 1 tank they'd use for 1 betta could've housed 6 tetras or 8 guppies).
@@izzywasabi I have a female bettas sorority in my own house and I've done a lot of research on them. Most females can be kept together in large groups but males and females and more than one male together won't work and I'm aware of that.

get rid of Mount Everest and put some plants in. You've got a beautiful fish - give it something interesting to do all day, every day for the rest of it's life. You can get some quality plastic plants and your betta will be so much happier. A couple of plant pots with the bottom knocked out and you'll see how curious and smart (for a fish) they are. And without the rock your tank could be just big enough. See comments from Analogue below

This tank is very small for a betta fish. They need a heater and a filter, especially with a light shining down because that will produce algae. That is a beautiful fish, pls upgrade so it can thrive 💕 50% water changes every week can be stressful on your fish so you really do need a filter. As well as a heater even if you live somewhere warm.
Makenzie Stillman they don’t need a filter or a heater, some people do but they live in slow moving waters and I think having a filter stresses them out and a heater, they are hardy fish and can live in any water temperature
Tracey Finnigan every fish needs one
Tracey Finnigan omg... you are to dumb to poop let a side taking care for a fish...
FISH NEEDS A FILTER! Filter is their source of air. It’s very important. Also they need a heater. They are tropical fishes that need a pacific temperature. Do your research before replying to someone’s comment.
@@lizziewilliams6394 I understand that betta fish are tropical fish and need a certain temperature to be maintained ( 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit ) but we also need to consider the temperature variables in this case. A filter is not a source of air for betta fish, they have an organ that lets them breathe air and form bubble nests all a filter does is clean the water but a very disruptive flow can stress them out hence a overflow filter with a smooth and low flow is used but is not absolutely mandatory if the water changes are consistently done.

@Victory Tom silk plants? Betta leaf? You can give them some anubias or amazon swords, the betta leaf can kill him if it’s to sharp or it can put a lot of toxic paint in the water. Much more? They are the easiest fish to take care of. They at least need 2.5 gallon, you give them some wood and they could use it as a place to hide. Also is better to give them real plants like the anubia in the vid or the amazon swords it also works as a bed for them. You miss a lot of things, like the water cycle, the anti chlorine.
Btw if u put real plants make sure to give them a rich substrate with vitamins and if u could give them a fertilizer

Watch Betta fish care video....they says that...they are happy even in a small bowl .....
I know why you say like this..it because you are crazy, stupid
Fuck this fish
@Victor YANG wtf is wrong with u? chill out.
Victor YANG you need to take a chill pill and do your proper research. Bettas shouldn’t be in bowls, but having too big of a tank is unnecessary and just requires more maintenance. The recommended bare minimum is 2.5 I believe, 5 gallons is enough for the fish and easy to maintain for the owner. Adding like a 20 gallon for just one fish just adds more unnecessary work and water bills. One of the reasons people even get bettas is because they don’t require too much space and that makes it easy for maintain.
Idk much about fish so I’m doing a lot of research before I think of buying one, but don’t you need a pump? So it oxygenates the water? I know water plants help too I’m just not too sure
betta doesn't need a air pump or water pump , they can come to breathe on the surface water. (they have special organ to breathe on the surface water.)
As the other comment says, they don’t need a oxygen pump, however it is highly suggested to purchase a filter to keep the water clean for the betta
Katie Owen you should try get a 5+ gallon tank. They are easier to look after and the betta will be very happy in it. Fake plants aren’t very good but if you can’t get real plants get soft fake plants so they don’t hurt the bettas fins. A filter will help but you will still need to do water changes. You can get peaceful tankmates but you should only do that in a 8+ gallon.

Thats what people in lyndhurst do. Fuck Filters. Its just a way to waste your money on your pets.
@@mikey5137 ????? ok kid time for you to go to bed.
Your tank is too small, you need more places for it to hide, a filter, or at the very least a heater, and pouring your betta is like that can damage and stress them. You need to acclimate, net and gently release
Most people just float the bag in the tank to equalize the temperature and then dump the fish, water and all, into their tanks. Not only is this a poor way to acclimate fish, but dumping pet store water into your tank is a bad idea. Water from the pet store can contain diseases and parasites that will be transferred to your beautiful community tank at home
Acclimating is a slow, steady process. To begin, dip 1/2 cup of tank water from the tank and add it to the bag. Now wait 15 minutes and do it again. This slow process will allow your new pet to acclimatize to a change in pH and temperature as well as new nutrient levels, oxygen content, salinity, sounds, and lighting.
A slow, careful acclimatization process will give the new fish the best chance for survival in your tank, although it will not protect your other fish from any diseases or parasites that the new fish may be carrying.
Remember, the temperature is only one of the possible water quality changes when acclimating a new fish to your home aquarium. Also remember, your new fish's life is in your hands, and it depends on you to make the right decisions
You need to equalize PH. Once the temperature and pH of the water in the bag are similar to the water in the aquarium, remove the fish bag from the tank and NET the fish out of the bag. Add the fish into the aquarium carefully, ensuring that their fins do not get caught in the net mesh. Do not pour the water from the bag into the aquarium, but discard it (or use it to water your houseplants!).

Beta fish so beautyful
I've been keeping fishes. Both freshwater and saltwater for decades. I have kept and bred bettas for decades too. Don't listen to these so called "experts". Most of their information are gathered from websites and other videos rather than their own experience.
They're mostly ignorant Muricans too. Trying to teach people on how to keep and care for a fish that is not native to their country and climate. Much like their government trying to teach other countries' government on how to govern their respective countries.
On some videos, I've even seen them going nuts over some people not putting on "heaters". When some of these videos are made in a tropical country with a tropical climate, which is the climate where bettas are from.
They just think the world revolves around USA alone.
Currently, I have about 15 males in individual tanks and a female sorority with a male inside in a 30 gallon. Most of my males are in planted and filtered 1.5-2 gallon tanks. A few are also in planted and filtered 5-10 gallons. I don't put heaters because I live in a tropical climate. Even the ones that are in the 1.5-2 gallons are healthy and happy, some even grew new colors on them, I have this half-moon that is originally white and blue, grew red spots and markings. This can only be achieved when the water quality is good, temperature is good with good quality food and environment. Actually, the filters are not even necessary, but you need to do water changes more frequently without filters. With filters, I only do once or twice water changes about 30-50% per week. And I feed them once every 2-3 days.
So my point is, you're doing fine. If you're in a tropical climate, you don't need a heater. Without a filter, you need to do a water change(at least 50%) every 1 or 2 days. Other than that, you're fine. Plus, I also agree that you shouldn't put the rock there, gives less swimming space and may destroy your Betta's fins because it has sharp edges.
Mathadi Kassim ok and? No one asked you to write a novel Gandhi
I'm from Malaysia, i laugh when i see ppl saying heater is a must...

so bettas thought they have a labyrinth organ, they still need to use their gills and it is bad for them if they dont. you should add floating plants to help with filtration. the heater yea that makes sense if ur house is warmer. and the tank is too small.
READ the description plz tq
@@sychin4568 yes i did but the description is wrong
Nice scape , but it's one of the worst stocking options. 1.5G isn't enough , a bare minimum would be 5 gallons
don't you need a lid? wouldn't Betta fish jump out of the tanks?
The tank is too small anyways doesnt matter
Bettas only jump if the water they're swimming in is dirty. Other than that they'll just jump if you try to train them
@@strabewycake it is small, but I've seen videos of betta in the wild, they get caught in tiny puddles that doesn't even look like a few gallons and I don't know how long they are stuck there for
@@wejsmith5446 from what i know they normally move around jump into diff ponds and such
He must love is tank😀
Where can I buy That Led bulb?
May i ask what do you use as foods , vitamins for your betta?
They need heavy planted Tanks... 1 Anubias? Nooooooonooo...
I ask if bettas need oxygen or pump ????? I confused
You can but not nescessary
A filter is nice for us so we don’t have to do water changes every day, but isn’t necessary. Bettas have an organ to help them breath surface air. They prefer a low flow.
But we all recommend filters because most people can’t keep up with constant water changes and it can also stress the fish.
Yeah get yourself a good filter with a low flow and HEATER( 77°). From what I've seen filters help with something called a nitrate cycle, I think it's called? It's super long and complicated to explain and I'm barely learning this stuff too but it's one of the reason why people need to do water changes. There's some good videos on the subject. It's super important for the quality of life for a betta
TNX for the info :)
But I have problem my to betta male died I don't know why I fed th properly. But they die they have enough space to swim but why it died. The reason I know becase of the cold od the hurrican... S A D most saddest happen in my life. I want to buy heater but I dont have money..
Betta looking great
Beautiful Betta 😍😍😍
Just a question, did you cycle the filter before butting the betta fish in there because the water needs a certain amount of bacteria and ammonia in there to stock the tank.
Other than that, nice setup :)
I don’t think she did because she doesn’t have a filter so no cartridges for the beneficial bacteria to grow in
@@batappreciation9661 Yeah I think so to, but I read on a care sheet that betta fish don't need a filter to be healthy, in fact they don't need one at all. As long as you do 100 percent water changes then it will be happy :)
How To Nature I have to respectfully disagree with you because in order to change the water enough youd have to do like 50% changes every other day and you’d have to take out the betta if the tank was too small during these changes and that’d stress the little guy out too much. Also, where did you get that care sheet?
@@hazz3853 It doesn't have to be 100%
How To Nature I don’t think you read the right care sheet. Bettas can breathe from the surface, but the beneficial bacteria in the tank won’t oxygenated so there will be no cycle and constant ammonia spikes. Most care sheets will tell you bettas need a low flow sponge or HOB filter.
Should try puting moss balls in the tank. The dark green will really make the color pop.
Plot twist:don’t have chlorine remover?just use mineral water
Too small - maybe try a 5 gallon? Also get a filter/heater
I think he lives in Malaysia and Malysia is actually tropical, but yeah I still prefer a heater
Ha? Háķđöğ That’s fair. Still need a filter, however
@@finnhoebelheinrich6122 we dont, cuz betta can strive here in SEA climate + with leave extract mix in the water
Syauqi Asraf you still would need a bigger tank
@@finnhoebelheinrich6122 my betta is happy with my 4 litre tank, and u can tell by the color transformation (more vibrant) and his behaviour, and also more bubble nest, they are not constantly swimming like other fish unless they are excited or eating time, the most important thing is the water, many ppl always care abt size of tank rather than the water composition, lighting and temperature.
So no acclimation for the fish?
Depends where you get them. A shipped betta should only adjust to the temperatures of the tank and then go straight in and have no lights or food for 24 hours.
A betta that you got from the store should be drip acclimated but could just be temperature adjusted as well. I think drip acclimating would be better though
