You create wonderful videos...you are not wired...you are wonderful. Please continue designing!
"there's just not enough vegetables in Christmas stitching" hahaha you cracked me up.
I was snorting (very unladylike). Hi Stephanie, Goodness sakes, I sure did enjoy stitching while you shared and chatted. You have the most charming spirit of any human I know. When you read aloud, I am a 3rd-grade girl all over again, trying to sit still and not play with my hair. I am Grateful that you are in my stitching circle. You make it swirly and fancy. Happy Stitching, Daleen
Another fantastic update! I love that that shop owner just GAVE you that model!! How amazing!!
I know, right? So sweet!!
lindystitches super sweet.
I think you are 100% correct on you analogy of viewing and experiencing! You are a very deep individual woth such class and true inner beauty amd talent. I look forward to the journey !
I love watching and listening to you on Floss Tube. You are great 🥰
This is not a wired statement.....it’s a heart felt statement. I love you. Your personality makes me happy.
I wanted to let you know just how much I appreciate you jumping out of the box and creative "A Stitch for Sweet Freedom"! As an African American women I haven't seen very many patterns were African American's are represented. I've did find some on Esty however they're not known about in my opinion. since purchasing the pattern, I've changed all my "people" in charts to the skin color that you used for the women. Keep up the awesome work!
Stephanie, your story about your kids made me laugh. Last week my son said to me, "Don't talk to me in your FlossTube voice." I had no idea that I had a FlossTube voice. I always enjoy watching your videos and seeing what you are working on. Congratulations on all of your finishes, they really look great!
HAHAHA!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a Flosstube voice. I kind of think I drifted right back into it as the video went on. I can't hear myself doing it. Oh well. Can't get all bound up in being self conscious. :)
I have stitched that cover image from the Country Diary book for myself - twice. I gave the first one to a friend moving back to South Korea. It makes me tingle to think that a piece of my stitching is on the other side of the earth.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful feelings about Stitch Con...I liked your frames and stitched pieces...the Lady Dot lace and her finishing pieces...The Vacation poem...I understand what you are saying...the only time we do filming now is Christmas morning with the children and grandchildren...and all the other times we have filmed at reunions and birthdays...I appreciate the films now that so many of our relations have passed...that is the only way to show my grandchildren my parents...my grandparents...I have my memories now of them but that is the only way I can pass these memories on to those they have never met...I ramble..you are a very special person🥰
I agree Loretta!! It is so nice to have some footage of the people we love. xo
So good to see you again! (I'm a little behind.) Congrats on your stellar year in the needlework business. We all love you. I think that is clear. :) No, there are never enough Stitch Con videos. Don't listen to them. :) I am working on "Anything for Love" right now for my husband. Been through a rough patch lately and it's great to have something large count and cartoony when I just don't want to think. There is always a place for that, when we get tired, I eyes get wonky, or we just don't need a damn 19th century repo on 56 count in reversible. May you and your awesome family (and giant cat) have a wonderful Christmas and an equally stellar 2020. You are awesome. xoxo
Hi Stephanie, I enjoyed spending time with you. Loved seeing all the things. Love your designs and I’m thrilled for your success.
Thank you for spending time with me, Teal. Truly. It's a blessing to be a part of this community, and I don't take it for granted. xo
lindystitches ❤️
Thank you for the beautiful design, A Stitch for Sweet Freedom. As a woman of color, she represents all women. I enjoy watching your video and please don't be afraid to take that leap in designing more patterns like this. This was how the Underground Railroad was started. People taking a chance. A leap of faith of freedom for everyone regardless of their ethic group. Love you my sister ❤
Thank you so much Jane! I promise to keep taking risks! Someone requested Harriet Tubman, and she's definitely been on my radar. :)
@@lindystitches please do. 😊😊😊😊😊
Lovely video Stephanie. Sorry, I am still playing catch up. Great to see your progress on your wips.
I can never get enough Stitch-con recaps! I enjoyed meeting you there, Stephanie! Sorry about the faux pas when I met you and called you Lindy...I did know better but my brain went away in your presence. I will be at the Galleria and definitely want to shop. I hope I see you there. 🤩
Yay, Deb! And I'm getting used to answering to that, no worries. 😂
Здравствуйте. Случайно попала на ваш канал. Очень красивые работы. Оформление очень подходит к работам
I love your videos and your voice is very easy to listen to. I was so happy to see your Woodland Santa looking so good. I have had this pattern in my stash for years and never stitched him because he looks cross-eyed on the pattern and i stitched a different one instead. Your santa looks great! I am tempted by the carrots!
The poem is thought provoking - I often wish I had thought to video something as I am pretty old now and my memory is not as good as I would like it to be !! 😉🇬🇧
He does look a little near sighted, doesn't he? He's kind of a weird project, but I think he's pretty cute. Glad I"m not the only one drawn to the vegetables. xoxo
I recently discovered your channel! You are a lot of fun and enjoy watching!
That Autumn Cat sampler is fabulous! I know how much back stitching a Kooler pattern is, wow! I'd hang it up now. Thanks for sharing all your work with us. You are such a marvelous creation...love the way you see things and your quirkiness. Happy stitching!
Stephanie, I enjoy your videos so much. You have a great sense of humor, a great eye for color, design, and steam amazing lady. So glad you are doing well, and keep designing such wonderful patterns.
I loved the poem, a real mind bender.
Happy stitching
Gee whiz, Linda, thank you for the sweet comment. God has been good to me, and I'm thankful to be able to be a part of this community. xo
I adored meeting you at Stitch-Con! You were extremely gracious! Love your finishes and WIP’s!!
Thank you Meghan. xo
Love the dirty lace. Your poem is very good!
Great poem, I totally agree. I experienced this first hand. I lived in London and travelled around Europe when I was 19 (I’m from Australia). I took so many photos trying to make sure I captured everything I don’t feel like I experienced the places at all. I also moved so fast around all of the cities trying to see as much as possible. I would love to visit all of the places again and just take my time wandering and seeing this so I can also have not only the images but feelings and emotions too, more memorable memories 😂😂 that makes no sense but hopefully you get what I’m trying to say.
Ahhhhhh,,,,,so many people are telling me similar experiences here in the comments, but you're the first to mention feelings and emotions being a bit missing because you were focused on recording, not experiencing. AND I THINK YOU'RE ON TO SOMETHING! Hmmmm....I need to think on this more. Thank you for sharing, Julie! And giving me something to further mull over! xo
That lace on the coffee piece is PERFECTION! I'm definitely going to have to keep it in mind when I get to that piece! Kudos! :)
Love the clown! Love your authenticity. Love the poems at the end of your videos. Life's moments through a camera lens you ask...….our three daughters are grown......the images from their childhood are the memories I carry in my heart....we rarely watch videos from their childhood.
I always say that I’m the worse at preserving memories such as vacations. We go on vacays with my brother and sister in law every year, and they always come back with tons of photos and video!! But, I don’t want to be behind the camera, cause like you said I don’t feel as those I’m getting to enjoy the moment to it’s fullest. So I end up taking a few pictures and maybe a few secs of video clips, and it’s enough for me. 😁
Lovely video Stephanie. You do have a wicked sense of humor. Thank you for designing A Stitch for Freedom. It's definitely on my list of patterns to buy. I love both of your finished projects. Both frames are perfect for each piece. Happy Stitching!
So enjoy your videos and your quirky way with words. Loved the poem. Years ago my mother in law gave us a video camera so I could video the kids school concerts and other things. After a bit I stopped using it because I felt I was missing out on the event. Interesting concept !!
Your Long Dog Sampler piece is just beautiful
Thank you Lynette! 💕
I liked the poem. It is so true. My daughter is always taking great photos for others and when she is having fun, but she is sad that she isn't in more of the pictures. I try to take pics of her but they usually turn out blurry or not great.
Enjoyed your video, thanks
You are right...there are just not enough vegetables in Christmas stitching😄😄😄 Regarding the poem, we took a little vacation with our children. It was just a couple days, but much needed and very precious. I realized later that I took no pictures and recorded no videos. We were just in it, and we will always be in it. Thank you for encouraging beauty for beauty's sake.
You will always be in it. I LOVE THAT. Y'all are killing me with the extremely lovely, thoughtful comments! xo
Love your Long Dog Sampler. You are my very first flosstube I watched 2 1/2 years ago and it’s been so fun watching your stitching and designing evolve. I actually don’t care what size the pattern is because I like using mixed media, so if the pattern doesn’t fit, I’ll use a piece of lace to accent, etc. Would love to see a picture this plus video - it’s my favorite fabric. Thanks for sharing your stitching and enjoy your weekend!
I !oved the poem. It does make you think. You always make my day! Wishing you a blessed week.
I started out my life with kids obsessing about photos and (new to me then) videos of them, and after a while I realized I’d rather truly live the moments, than capture them for later enjoyment. I do like having a few now to look back on, but life is too short and it can fly by while you are fussing about behind a lens. Loved hearing your thoughts and seeing your projects, wish I had been able to chat a bit with you at Stitch-Con...next year?
Yes, Lord willing!!!
Hi Stephanie! Great video as always! I totally agree and have really just realized how much I have missed by videotaping concerts on my phone instead of just watching the show. I've saw Steven Tyler with his country band in Boston and taped a lot of it, but then regretted things I missed from just trying to focus the phone! It's happened to me a few times and now I don't bring one! My husband always said it but it took me a while to figure it out. I love how the Long Dog Sampler piece is coming out and I can't wait to see that gorgeous hank of silk stitched up....it will be amazing. My favorite colors are blues and purples...so pretty. Many congrats to you and your thriving business! Happy Happy Stitching!! :)
Steph, I love words! When thoughtfully strung together can stir your soul. Meaningful moments to hang onto. Our family has a no phone at the table rule. When we are at a restaurant, we look around the room and count the tables where people are sitting together ignoring each other. It’s very sad but a good reminder for us to stay engaged with each other fully. Thank you for sharing, you’re a jewel.
ENGAGED, yes, that's what I want to be too! Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Julie! xo
Enjoyed your video! Your wip is beautiful! I love the poem , it is so true , I found that out when we were lucky enough to take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and my husband wanted me to film because I was in the front! Last time I did that 🤨
Thanks, Kim in Florida 🌴
My jaw dropped when you showed the sampler on the abyss fabric 🙀 gorgeous!! Just subscribed
Thank you Karen! I love that piece so much. xo
Love watching you! I think the poem can also mean we're on a journey through life and we're so busy "living" it, we're really not experiencing it.
Omg you’re fantastic, that clown part at the start was classic 😂😂
Great FFOs! Thank you for sharing with us!
That autumn cat sampler is about ten different degrees of fabulous! Especially in that frame! Love it!
I agree about trying to record an experience diminishing the experience as it happens. We went to the San Diego zoo a few years ago, and we were up near the glass at the polar bear exhibit when one of the bears swam right up to the glass and stayed there for several seconds. Totally amazing! Afterwards I mentioned to my husband that I forgot to get a picture because I was captivated by watching the bear. He laughed and said he'd rather I watch the bear than take a photo. We didn't get any good shots of the bears, but I have no regrets, because being 6 feet from a live polar bear is a pretty exhilarating memory.
I'm getting so many stories of similar experiences!! If we always look at our photos and comment how they don't compare, why are we so determined to ruin the actual moment trying to take an inadequate photo!? xo
Loved being able to finally meet you! Night Mewsic is Cheryl Granda (Glendon Place).
Thanks so much Kerry!!
I love your poem about the vacation. I am like this with my daughter. We don’t take many photos because we want to enjoy the experience. We can close our eyes and see it again whenever we want. And no one else needs to see it. We take a few pictures of course, but that is it.
I love "and no one else needs to see it." I agree. Our lives are special, and sometimes bringing in that third audience of the phone does something to damage the private enjoyment. xo
I feel you on the obsession--I found a chicken cross stitch pattern on Pinterest and it took me TWO YEARS of solidly looking to figure out where the heck it came from...It was a Helen Wind book and not made in the U.S. I HAD to have it and haunted ebay until I found it. I slept better after that, lol! I do not care at all about standard frames. Sometimes I don't frame for a long time, and the joy for me is in the stitching. Thx for your video-you do a a fantastic job.
I don't know what it is, but I get the same bugs in my brain. I also get that way if I've lost something or don't know where something is in the house. Apparently I have a psychological need to be able to find things at all times, lol. xo
Girl, you are so funny! God bless our Moms! I think you are both beautiful and well spoken, your voice is lovely and you can tell your kids I said so. Moms rule👌💕
I enjoyed your video, as always. Thank you for being brave, and doing the right thing...at the right time.❤ and, I'm so glad your design business is doing so well. Hope you get a new dog soon. Take care. Patty
What a great video this was. I love your designs, your sense of humor, your love of words, and your offering of poems. I wish you continued success and look forward to more thought-provoking conversation!
Cindy, thank you for the sweet, thoughtful comment! xoxo
I loved the use of the "dirty face lace" and the poem is definitely a good one. Thanks for sharing. :-)
LOL loved the clown photo from IT!!! Great sense of humor!!! 🤡 Your FFOs are gorgeous!! I do love the lace added!! Your bday WIP is gorgeous too!!! Love the colors!! Santa is adorable!! 🎅 You will love beading....it's so easy!!! I love that cat moon pillow!!! SO cute!! Love the cat eyes fabric too!!! 👀 Yes! I agree about having the phone in-between you and the experience, disrupts the full memory intended!!! I am not obsessed with my phone like that. There are so many times as I drive to work along the country side and the sun is rising, that I want to take pictures, but I usually just enjoy as it peeks thru the farms n trees.....thank you for sharing with us!!! Happy stitching Stephanie!!!! 🤓🌞💛🤡
A very thought provoking video! From the question of showing non-white people in cross stitch to the poem at the end. My take on the poem is influenced by the way I lay down memories which seems to be different to many people. My parents took a lot of photos and cine film when I was little. We lived abroad and they were sent home to my grandparents. As I grew up and looked at those photos and films, the memories would come flooding back, fixed in my mind. Since I got a camera for my 16th Birthday I have recorded everything! As a result, I have so many memories of things that other people have simply forgotten.
I do think it's sad that the man wasn't in his own video, it implies he was travelling alone rather than sharing the journey with loved ones.
Lovely update as always. Enjoy Sassy Jacks! When I went there I just spent forever looking at models and gazing my eyes upon everything and then hours passed and my bf was like "Are you still here......?" oh boyyy. Anywho. Love that hank for Death by Cross Stitch.. I see so many people working on it that I am getting inspired as well. That is going to look great! I also love word puns as well. Hahaha. Anywho, happy stitching.
Another fun video! I’m enjoying watching the “clown wars” between you and Mich Stitch. 🤣🤣 I can’t believe how perfect those frames were for your awesome FFO’s. Great finds. 👍🏻 I so agree with what you said about the poem. As much as I feel I should document events in my family’s life I resent spending the time behind my camera rather just sitting back and taking it all in. I recently missed seeing my daughter’s image and name displayed on the big screen, along with “with honours”, at her college graduation because I was fumbling with my phone trying to get the perfect picture. And now I’ll never get that moment back. 😢 Wow! You entertain and enlighten us. 🤣
Kris, I totally know what you're talking about. Plus a lot of the time it falls to us women to be the family recorders, which is fine, but it also means we get to enjoy less. :( I'm recording less these days. Not everything needs to be on a screen. xo
Thank you for this video! You are awesome! That’s all! Enjoy the rest of your Summer! 😊💖
I love words and quirky use of them too! Keep finding more!
Yes ma'am!!
The Long Dog!! 😻😻😻😻 it’s beautiful Steph.
Thanks Jenny!!
Just found your page, love it!
Hey Stephanie,
Your FFOs are absolutely beautiful...the frame for the Kooler piece is amazing and the perfect complement (I must remember to request non-reflective glass in the future). GAH!...Night Mewsic...the pillow...the fabric...I am SO jealous! If you love cats, I highly recommend you get your hands on the 2016 issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine...it has quite a few amazing pieces to be stitched featuring our feline friends (I have 3, including NM earmarked for future stitching). The designer for NM is Cheryl Granda of Glendon Place. Take care and thanks for the amazing video!
love, love love your work. and Fancy Works is truly so wonderful.
Thank you Glenna!! xo
Loved the poem. I've often thought that people miss the actual experience when they are trying to "save" it on their phones. I'm not a cross stitcher but really enjoyed your podcast. .
I think i have been that poem. Yup many years of holidays so i can watch it to see if all had fun. They did...i have no idea if i did...cuz i was too bust memorializing it. I am in none of them except my voice kind of directing and bossing everyone. I mean....wow
Your LDS is gorgeous! Love the fabric! I love word puns too but I see someone else already commented that Night Mewsic is by Glendon Place. Santa looks great on that fabric! And yes, we need more veggies in xmas pieces. 😄
Adding "Christmas Vegetable Sampler" to my design list. ha ha ha
@@lindystitches yes!
Great video Stephanie. Hope to make it to Stitch Con next year and meet you
I did get the package!!! It was ah-mazing. Thank you. The little doll head is adorable! Not creepy at all! Well maybe a little, it is just a head after all :D
Just got your postcard! Yay!! xo
I have embraced “sweet freedom” and am so grateful to you for releasing her. (You told me how to get her in print) I’m white and married to a black man for 37 years. Yikes! Yay for diversity!
37 years! Congratulations!! What an accomplishment! xo
So funny... I just bought the digital download of the 2016 Special Collector's Issue of Just CrossStitch Halloween yesterday and saw the Night Mewsic pattern last night. Designer is Cheryl Granda of Glendon Place. Looks like others already provided this information... awesome community of stitchers! Always look forward to watching your videos.
Thank you Roxanna!! xo
I was at Joann's today and thought if you. There is a whole magazine of Margaret Sherry's designs. Love your videos and am excited that you will be at Galleria.
Thank you! I'm going to have to go to JoAnn's now! xo
😂🤣😂he would never be in it...😂🤣😂I love it. I love your style. I don't cross stitch, I am a crocheter . It was a joy listening to you. Thanks for sharing your time with us. Keep it up girlfriend! I will be back.
Hi Kisha! Welcome to Flosstube! Thanks for stopping by. ♥️
There is a tutorial somewhere that shows how to make the cloth folding ort catcher. I've made two of them. They are great and so portable. Thanks for the cross stitch labels, I will definitely use them (I ordered 2). Looking forward to seeing you again.
Thank you for your support, Patricia! I'm going to have to look for that tutorial! It's so cute and handy. xo
Holy moly! I nearly turned off your video when I saw the clown! I'm one of the peeps who finds them monstrous & grotesque. Your Noah's Ark piece is so beautiful, the shade of blue in the fabric is just perfect. The addition of the dirty face lace on your other finish is just the right touch too. I'm delighted your design business is doing well, how lovely to be living the dream.
I'm so sorry for the psychological distress, Joan!! Hopefully your mind has healed! Thank you for your sweet comment! xo
Some images are best stored in your heart❣️
HI Stephanie, I changed my name Caroline of the pokey little pineapple. I really love the poems you share.
I am sorry but I stopped getting the Just Cross Stitch Halloween issue after 2015, so I couldn't help you out with that designer. I agree with Karen Sullivan about how gorgeous the sampler on the abyss fabric is - wow! Since I got back from Stitch-Con, I have been working on Uncle Sam's Rickshaw. I am waiting on Classic Colorworks Cherry Cobbler to start Sweet Freedom. I cannot say which one I love more, but I do love them both - thank you for the designs!
Just love your videos! I wish you much success at Galleria.
Your designs are awesome, find a niche and you fill it with goodness. I loved that silk Hank, can I ask where and what?, I need that in my life for something. Bloom where you are planted is special for me and I want it in every room of my house.
Jeri Haney Silks4U on Etsy. :)
That's what I got from the poem - to put the phone down more and immerse yourself in the moment more. Love the video - thanks! Except for the clown-I don't like clowns.......
Yes I've gotten several complains! Sorry about him!
Dear Stephanie, Thank you for removing the clown image with rapidity and panache. I was able to continue watching without irrational fear. I am sure that you have many design ideas but have you considered Harriet Tubman as a subject? Her life was inspirational. I came to know of her a few years ago thanks to Mandy Shaw, an English quilt designer. Mandy created a Harriet quilt which is super. I am not aware of any cross stitch charts which honour Harriet. Noah’s Ark is super. Many of your expressions have made me smile previously. The award for funny bone tickling goes to “Just not enough vegetables in Christmas stitching “. Happy designing and stitching. Take care. Thank you.
Harriet Tubman is definitely on my list. I'd love to look up the quilt you're referencing. She was a remarkable woman and I'd love to create something in tribute to her. Also look out for my upcoming Christmas Vegetable Sampler. ha ha. xo
Daiso( 100 Yen/ $1 store) is awesome. WHen I leave Japan it will be one thing I will miss is Daiso, I am lucky to have a pretty big one in my town.
I'd love to visit one!
Pumpkin head people are SO cute.
You are the most adorable human being ❤️ omg your A Stitch For Sweet Freedom ❤️❤️❤️ love soooo much....always leap always dissent when dissent matters 👍 thank you for being you
Thanks for the great videos. How do you get your art made into cross stitch patterns?
You are a delight!
Love your poem! Why do people get so caught in recording their lives passing by and watching their life on their recordings instead of being THERE in the moment and living it? And Thank You for showing L'Arbre de Noe, I have this book since 2011 when it was first published, I think, I had forgotten about it. Sooo many great projets in it.....
Thanks Maryse! FORGOTTEN ABOUT IT? What! How do you forget about it? :) :) :) Next on my list is Cranston, also from that book, which means I need to find someone with the book who's willing to let me beg, borrow, trade, or work for it. Let me know if that might be you! xo
Gosh you are such a doll! Regarding the poem I couldn’t agree with you more. However my age probably has something to do with that since I am a baby boomer. I would power off my phone and just enjoy because the pictures and movies of the vacation can be played in my head on demand. 🤣
BTW.... I loved the 🤡
Hello Stephanie I am a white 64 year old white woman from Baltimore City, Maryland. I've been 'WOKE' since about 1959 when I first realized that there was something really wrong with the white people around me, they've never been able to persuade me that my natural understanding that all people are equal people was a mistake. I started watching you when you were working on a piece with an African woman so I was immediately drawn to you. I love your work and your designs, thank you for your videos, I look forward to them each time!
Thank you so much Hoji--- for your thoughtful comment, for honoring the dignity of all shades of people. Hugs. xo
Thank you for sharing with us❗️I loved your video. Xoxo. Miriam
I go to the thrift store and buy my frames for my cross stitch. I got one for $4.00 and framed Sabrina by Mirabilia designs and got it finished at Michaels for less than $75.00. It’s a big frame and so cheap. Thanks for sharing this video see you next time.
I love Stitch for freedom !! She's beautiful!!
Thank you!
I did the lazy cat :). I did take the teapot out but otherwise as charted and it looks way better than the picture, as is always true, I think. My French knots are sad so one of the birds looks slightly crazy, unfortunately. Enjoy stitching :)
Keepsakes is my store. Barb and I are good friends. I can't believe it. Barb calles me her cross stitch sandwich board. I pass out her cards on planes in stores at malls you name it. I didn't mention it that I am African American. I have a hard time finding charts of people that look like me. I am going blind among other health issues but I still hang out at Keepsakes every chance I get. I wish I could talk to you in person you seem so down to earth. I still love buying cross stitch.
sorry to be so wordy.
P.S. v my name is pronounced Renee
Hiya! Lovely to catch up with you again, and to see your beautiful work. I’m all done with Darcy and will hopefully have more time for stitching and tubing. Great fun, but glad it’s over. Autumn Sampler is gor-juss. Congrats on the hike up in stitching profile - you’s doing good. Random question - have you read Lincoln in the Bardo? If not, I highly highly recommend it. Till we chat again....Pxx
Yes, I read it. It was....interesting. Saunders definitely thinks outside the box, doesn't he? And whoever said friends let friends become Mr. Darcy without the required Austenite selfie? I want the photographic evidence, pronto.
Sooooo close on the Long Dog sampler!
I love how quirky you are! You're one of my faves. I love the fabric for your Long Dog! I'll email you my info from the last giveaway!
Why thanks Kristi! I'm sending you a quirky head asap! xo
I hadn't heard the poem before I posted the last comment, so I had to write another comment. Two thoughts on that - I am notoriously bad at not taking pictures because I am enjoying the moment too much. Secondly, since I am an older person, I am not attached to my phone, and I get after my kids for being so. I do realize that sometimes it is important, but not always. Nag, Nag, Nag - LOL
Lindy, I loved your video. You seem so kind and sweet. I love your patterns and bought one last night. Thank you.
Thank you so much Mary! I really appreciate that. xo
I agree with you - the dirty face lace is WOW - hmmm, how could I figure a way to use it??? LoL
Just use it EVERYWHERE. :)
lindystitches true!!!
Hi Stephanie! About taking those photos & videos (and selfies)....I like to take pictures of special places, people & occasions as much as the next person! I have just recently volunteered to create the newsletter for our local garden club. I was happy to help out and I enjoy the creativity. However, now that I HAVE to get those important shots at our numerous events and meetings, I feel the distraction away from being in the moment because I have to look at the event with a different set of eyes! Thankfully, my good friend and co-writer of the newsletter helps out with the photos, which she loves to do! So, yes, it does change things a bit. Also, as far as the “selfies” go....if you see the horror stories on the news, like I have, of people that just go literally too far to get that epic shot....well, need we say more?
Liz, so many people sharing the same type of experiences in the comments here! Nope, you don't need to say more to convince me! xo
I used to take photos for my daughter's dance school Spring Recital every year. It had me running from front of stage to backstage to cat walks...all over. I got to see those dances close up. But...there was always a lens between me and the dancers. Molly would always be excited, asking me what I thought about the show and did I enjoy it? Honestly, even though I saw the show...I didn't really because I couldn't participate the way the other parents could. I once listened to a podcast (maybe Stuff You Should Know?) wherein they talked about the fact that you remember an event less if you're busy filming it. That stuck with me hardcore. I've experienced the inexperience of being at an event and not even being there...ya know? So yeah...I don't photograph the shows anymore. (Also, I'm backstage doing other things now, but...) In other areas of life, though, I try to keep my camera down and just experience the fullness of the moment.
Love Garrison Keilor.
Hi Brandy! I've done the same type of thing and wholeheartedly agree with you. Life is a lot better not viewed through the camera. I love GK too. :) xo
Love your hank for Death by Cross Stitch! Is it 240 meters? Do you think that is enough for this pattern? I’m getting ready to start this chart and have yet to buy my floss. TIA
I have really no idea! I'm pretty bad at estimating floss amounts! I'm planning on mixing in other colors.
You are amazing, let's get that out of the way. Your poem is so true. I'm not a big picture taker since I want to live in the moment. I love all that you showed us, including the clown. They don't bother me. YES for diversity. The world would be a boring place without it. Plus, I wouldn't want to see many Me's out there, that would be disturbing and horrifying at the same time. Thank you for making these videos, they bring me joy. Much love -Gen
Horrifying and disturbing, lol, yes. xo
Love your Long Dog. What color fabric did you stitch this on. I was thinking of trying to stitch it on same, such as yours, with the white.Ive seen them on the internet and wow its worth the stitch time.
It's Abyss by hand Dyed by Stephanie. It actually was pretty easy to stitch on, but I was using 32.
