VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 12. 11. 2022
- In this Uk travel episode we take you to the unique, privately owned fishing village of Clovelly. The village was once owned by William the Conquerer and still remains in private hands today. There are no cars, no holiday lets (just two hotels linked below) and no light pollution. If you want to live here, you need to apply and even go through an interview but even then, you'll only be renting a cottage rather than own it yourself. But in return, you get a wonderful community of villagers, all passionate about keeping this village alive. Join us for a little wander around this fascinating place.

Every time I see a video like this I'm sure I've seen THE most charming English village, but then there's another one! Really lovely. Thank you.
Went years ago and loved how quaint it was
Injoyed it beautiful village
Love the 'rock'.. My daughter did the same when she was 7.. carried a rock up a cliff path to take home. She still has it, she is now 49. đ„°
Oh that's so lovely! Heidi still has her 'cat paw' too, it made it all the way home with us lol. Knowing Heidi, she'll still be treasuring it long into the future too :)
It is hard not to fall for the charm of Clovelly, ; long may it remain as unspoilt.
Seeing it again brought back intense memories of discovering it by chance and descending the cobbled streets so gingerly with my tiny first baby in my arms.
Youâre absolutely right about that! Iâve been a few times and I still want to return time and again. Iâm glad this video brought back memories of your own trip there. There are some lovely places along the devon coast and you did well discovering this one purely by chance đ
Such a pretty place. Thank you!
Thank you for the video bought back child hood memories and we might go again on our trip to Devon this year
How lovely, it was like a mini holiday for me⊠Love from Idaho †USA đșđž
Aww bless you! Thank you đ„°đ If you ever get the chance I highly recommend a visit to Clovelly, itâs such a unique little place. Iâd love to visit Idaho! The landscape looks amazing there. Wishing you a lovely Sunday â€ïž
@@theslowtravelsfamily ! Iâm always open to making new friends.. we live below Bogus basin, a lovely ski area,, we are in the Valley by The Boise River; we are short distances from beautiful lakes ( 1-2 hours) and other lovely mountains, mid to late Spring is gorgeous here, we do have very pretty autumns also. Plenty of room in our home and lots of legos and toys Iâve kept from older children! Blessing to you one and all! I love going to dreamy places⊠even if they are on line! đ€đ„°
I live nearby and love it, big change from London
I enjoy your travels so much.
We love Clovelly. Brings back lots of happy holiday memories. Thank you for sharing â€ïž
going tomorrow Yay
gorgeous village but that trek back up the hill is a killer.
Haha it most certainly is!! Last time we visited we got the Land Rover back up đ
Thank you for a great video and reminding me of a magical visit to Clovelly about 5 years ago - felt like I was there again. It was pouring that day and I genuinely thought I was going to injure myself far from home on the steep slippery stones. I've been to England 20 times over decades and am convinced I should've been born there. Looking forward to catching up on your other videos. Your daughter is beautiful!
Thank you! I'm so pleased you enjoyed this episode :) Happy to hear it brought back some lovely memories of your own visit. My goodness, I've had the same experience! I took Heidi on a little girlie weekend away last year and we stopped by Clovelly for an afternoon when it was chucking it down. The amount of times I nearly slipped over...
Thank you for yet again a lovely episode, dear Stacy. đIt is so lovely to see your family in beautiful Great Britain. It reminds me of our lovely holidays we had in England, Wales and Scotland.
Thank you so very much đ„° so pleased you enjoyed our mini trip to Clovelly. Itâs such a unique little place. Hopefully you get to have many more holidays here in the UK â€ïžđ Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Beautiful village! Thank you for taking us along! â€
It has so much charm and character to it. We always love a visit here when we can đ Shall have to pop back next summer and maybe try and stay the night to share more from here!
This is quite the finest seaside village I have encountered. Given your Nation's inheritance taxes, I am pleased to see that this family has been able to maintain control of such a fine property.
I remember when I first visited, back in 1984, before the tourist centre/entrance was built and the only thing you had to pay for was the LandRover ride back up to the carpark. I was surprised to see how it had become a money making tourist trap, when I took my wife in the 90's. It is a lovely little village though.
The stone your daughter picked up was way cooler than the stuffed animal but obviously much harder to carry.
She was determined to bring it home with her! Managed to carry it all the way to Land Rover we caught back up which was amazing going as it weighed a ton đł Itâs now safely back home with us đ
Even I love Clovelly and I'm not a seaside girl at all! (I know I'm odd) I didn't realise it was privately owned or that there were no cars, amazing! Thank you for another lovely little trip. đ„°
Clovelly just has such a fantastic feel to it doesnât it?! đ Yes, still privately owned and I donât think that will be changing any time soon which I think is a great thing. It keeps unique places like this alive.
Thanks for the lovely visit to Clovelly, glad the weather brighten up for you, I am always worried about tripping up on the cobbles, they can be uneven, such a picturesque village.Enjoy your trip to Cornwall.xx
So glad you enjoyed the short virtual tour đ„° We were so happy we got a couple hours of dry weather before the heavens opened again as we headed south! Definitely lucked out there. I feel you! I nearly slipped three times on the walk down, I canât imagine having to walk up and down those cobbles every day đł Cornwall has been lovely thank you, look forward to sharing it next Sunday. Hope youâve had a wonderfully relaxing weekend x
You never mentioned the woman who maintained the village, who improved and rebuilt most of the cottages, or the land owner who allows visitors to park on his estate at the top of the village. Also there are videos on here of people that have applied to live in the village that have been accepted, including one of a girl that moved there and lives in the cottage with a balcony overlooking the sea, where you visit inside her cottage and others. All the villagers help each other dragging their sleds up and down the cobbled streets.
It's amazingđđ valley with đŒđ§ââïžđ°fairy tail
Itâs a wonderful little village đ
Somewhere I need to visit next summer for sure đ
Thanks for a informative video on Clovelly. Weâre here now staying in the New Inn Hotel and looked up on CZcams the history đ
Beautiful village, lovely video hunny! â€ïžâ€ïž Xx
Clovelly sure is a unique little gem đ
Nice.
Love from Bangladesh.đ§đ©
How neat that is! đBut, I don't think this OLD body could handle it... âș Did Heidi get her rock home ??? đ OH, to be YOUNG AGAIN ! đ
The name 'Clovelly' reminds me a lot of how English people mispronounce Welsh space names. The 'LL at the beginning of the word sometimes gets turned into a 'C' with the middle 'll' pronounced as 'l'. I wonder if hundreds or thousands of year ago, this settlement would have been 'Llyfeli' or 'Llyfelu'. Any Welsh speaker would understand why I think this might have been the case.
Wow amazing village how much was stew Land Rover ride back up ?
Itâs such a unique place, canât recommend a trip here enough! I canât remember exactly off the top of my head, but I think it was in the region of ÂŁ3 per adult so not too bad. Definitely worth it compared to the walk back up đ
im sorry you have to pay to enter a village?? đ what is the south west coming to
