The most important jeep to me is the one in my driveway that's paid for ;-)
97 tj Sahara 238.000 miles and the heads never been off lol
Answer of the Day Award 😁🏆
Same. 87 XJ 146k miles and 18 JL 19k miles in my driveway. Might trade my 18 Silverado for a JT at some point, we’ll see.
The five in my driveway all paid for, and lower maintenance cost's than any other brand i have ever owned in 35 years.
My tj has has 142xxx miles and I’ve replaced a radiator and a u joint
You overlooked the TJ entirely, the first Wrangler that was coil spring suspension instead of the traditional flat leaf spring. And became the basis for all the newer Wranglers.
The LJ was the pinnacle of the TJ era.
It was, but we wouldn't have the LJ without the TJ. They should have highlighted the TJ, and then plugged the LJ towards the end of that section.
Signed, a man that could afford a TJ but not an LJ
The most important Jeep, any with that 4.0 i6
👍🇺🇸🖒
got that big chubby WJ with the 4.0l v6 sounds real meaty when i push the pedals vroomvroom
@@seanpasquarella4149 it's not a v6 , it's a inline 6 or I6 but I own a 4.0 in my ZJ and the engine may be good but the damn jeep it's self is all falling apart and causing the engine to suck , computer, body , suspension , belt issues , exhaust issues , JEEP= Just Empty Every Pocket
I disagree and I’ve owned a couple. The HEMI is outstanding. I’ve got 170k on my WK and runs great.
Yep my dad's has 300k miles needs a motor at least that's what we think but very reliable
The MOST IMPORTANT JEEP are the ones that helped win WW2
👍🏼
🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yup!
You mean the jeeps? Bcz the new ones aren't jeeps😂
American Iron all the way!
The XJ is the second generation Cherokee!!! Also XJ is life.
Xj is indeed life
I agree guys! Love that thing! Now I'm going for a ride in my XJ! 😁
The xj was the first unibody 4x4 SUV produced that's what really is unique about it and they completely missed this. It was made by AMC the zj was actually an AMC design not Chrysler but AMC sold the Jeep name to Daimler Chrysler before putting it to market the zj was a huge success and it was argued that had AMC waited to market the zj before selling the Jeep name that they would have survived longer.
XJ's are the BEST SUV ever! with a moderate lift they are as capable off road as a wrangler, but still more comfortable on the road
@@onefastcyclist I don't know about comfortable I daily drive my 4.5 inch lifted xj and i feel every grain of sand in the road
The XJ to me is the ultimate Jeep. We had one in the late 90's, a "Laredo" trim and it ran forever. I have one now too and even at 253K starts up every time. I'd happily take the original Wagoneer or a Gladiator though! All amazing
I’ve got a 96 Cherokee and I 100% agree with you, such a good looking vehicle. Dream car is a gladiator but I would love to have the Wagoneer
I have owned two XJ'S and I would say that both of them have been the two best vehicles I have ever owned love my XJ'S.
Im not a big JEEP guy but the Scrambler has always caught my attention! Maybe because I grew up in the 80's.
I would agree. Always liked the look of the scrambler
The scrambler was the og I wish I had one and I’m only 17. Not to talk bad about my tj but the scrambler is so cool
Eduardo they are cool and different. I didn't realize they were so rare. A neighbor had one that sat for years but now its gone. Missed my chance of picking one up.
Still driving my LJ. Bought it brand new 9/11/2004. Love it! I will never let her go.
Wow the TJ hands down should be top 3. Inline six , solid axle , and the first wrangler with coil springs. It was the first super capable stock Jeep and created the modern Jeep craze and aftermarket rage. I am disappoint.
did the TJ have the same engine as the XJ?
hard to believe the TJ Rubicon was not in that list since it was the last true reflection of traditional optics and durability
the Rubicon is built like a tank with car wheels
1973 CJ5. Bulletproof 304, T15 Transmission. The greatest VEHICLE (not only Jeep) ever made.
I have that engine in my Gremlin
By far always loved the XJ, still driving the one I grew up in with almost 270k miles on it and runs without any problems at all!!!! It’s the 4.0 of course and not the 2.4
Yeah buddy!!
They never had a 2.4 they had a 2.5 which is also very legendary
I like my two Jeeps, the 1982 CJ-7 Renegade, and the 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo WJ. Both of them Inline 6 engines.
@@MinecraftPro97k What straight six does the cj have? isnt that a 4.2 liter amc straight six? those are torque and durable moters, similar to the 4.0 but there horsepower is low
Have you seen the yellow banana on CZcams ??? He rescues four wheelers in Moab Utah... If you haven't that's what he has and that thing is a beast
I think it is odd that they don’t include the TJ in the top 10 and then finish by picking it as the one they would buy! :)
Love my '99
Best Jeep? The one I am driving right now. 96 XJ, 183000 miles 3" lift and 31's, and no signs of slowing down. BTW this is my 3rd XJ since 2002.
To me the XJ back in the mid 80's was perfect size for our family of five, the first American made mid size 4 door suv for those who didn't want or need a huge suburban or SJ Wagoneer
Proud to have both my YJ and the LJ still! Fantastic Jeeps!
Should have mentioned the 2004 introduction of the Rubicon trim package! That completely changed the game for Jeep and their marketing/Production if the Wrangle...should I dare say started the massive Jeep tidal wave we are riding on right now???
I have a zj with 400.000 thousand miles on it
Yeah my zj has 381,000 on it 4.0. I6 of course I was running pennzoil synthetic for long time now mobile one
Mines doing fine with 264K hard miles. I6
4.0 just are the best
That's amazing. I have 210000 miles and that's what I'm going to try to do.
Cherokee XJ all the way. I love my 98 XJ and quite frankly it's cheaper than a Rubicon.
CJ7. Best Jeep ever (outside the WW2 Jeeps, of course). The CJ7 was the essential version that continues to be modeled after. Everything from that point forward is a tweak on the “7”. Hence, it being the number 2.
The true test? When you see one on the road... you can’t look away. It nailed all aspects of what is Jeep.
1. That center dial (the insides of every other Jeep after it is just “blah” plastic that will never stand the test of time)
2. The curved fenders and bubbly round headlights on an otherwise boxy template, Mac truck hood with that fun v style shape, half back seats, bubbly blinkers, side rear marker lights, etc.
3. Ease of repair so the average Joe can enjoy his vehicle repair.
4. Simplicity of the old being wonderfully celebrated as we ushered in the age of the space shuttle.
The “7”... number 2.
I picked up a mint 2004 LJ last October for $9,000. Some people definitely think they're worth more than they are, but I was happy to find that one at a reasonable price. 148k miles, completely bone stock, which is even harder to find. Bought it from an older guy that had only used it on fire roads and light, light offroading and without a single spot of rust. Love the thing.
Bought my friend’s wife’s 2004 LJ in 2018 with 32,000 miles for $4,000. Brought it back to NC from Long Island no rust. Was originally purchased in Florida where they had it for 6 years then on LI for 8. Great vehicle other than regular maintenance when the serpentine belt went one of the pulleys had to be replaced. Change the oil every 4,000 miles myself with conventional and did my own tuneup.
@@johnschaefer2238 $4000 for a 32,000 mile jeep? have you been charged with robbery?
Hey d981 you made my day with that comment. Should almost have been on the FBI 10 most wanted for two other purchases. In 2005 my supervisor at work was buying his wife a Jeep Cherokee and needed to get rid of her 1998 Accord. It was a 4cyl with a 5 speed manual. Mostly highway miles since several times a year she drove from NC to Alabama. He wanted $5,000 but I went on Edmunds and gave him $5,300 because that’s what it was worth and I loved it. Religiously kept up on the maintenance and by February of 2018 it had 285,000 on it and was still purring like a kitten. Then on Valentine’s Day on my way to work I was T-Boned by a construction vehicle which went through a red light. I was unhurt but my ride was totaled. Then in August of 2021 my best friend from HS was moving from LI to Denver his 89 year old dad was giving up his license and moving to Georgia to live with his older son. I had told my friend if his dad ever wanted to get rid of his car to let me know. His dad had a 2001 Honda Accord. The car was the same color as my 98 silver, 4 doors, 4 cyl, automatic instead of a 5 speed and had 82,000 on it. The book value was $2,100 so I flew up to LI and stayed with my friend for 3 days. For 3 days I tried to get him to accept a check for the $2,100. He refused and said you’re like my 3rd son ever since 1972 you cannot pay me for it. Finally his dad said to me if this will shut you up just buy me a nice bottle of rum. Went to a large liquor store in Farmingdale bought their best bottle of rum for $55 and the cars was mine. Still driving it now with 92,000 on it and loving it. So my advice to you before I’m in the penitentiary if you have family or friends who take care of their vehicles lang the seed in their minds that if they eventually want to get rid of their well cared vehicles you’ll be there to scoop it up! Take care and thanks for the smile you put on my face with your comment!
Best part is that engine still has a good 150K PLUS miles on it, so long as you do proper maintenance... of course
I'll always pick the YJ. Specifically the 1991 Jeep YJ Sahara...
The 2 door SJ was called a Cherokee so technically the XJ is second gen Cherokee
They did a 4-door SJ Cherokee too!
Can confirm I own a 1983 Jeep Cherokee Fsj, xj is not first gen Cherokee
@@brynjaminjones by the time Jeep did that, it was basically a sub model of the Wagoneer.
TJ stands for The Jeep
The CJ actually had the longest production run. 1946 with the CJ-2 to 1986 with the CJ-7
My favorite Jeep of all time is the MJ Comanche. It's the only Jeep I've owned and I'd love to have another. I've also alway wanted to try a Yj and I can't deny the Zj as my parents had one for 20 years.
I have 3 Comanches. Great little trucks
Liberty was the start of Jeep brand becoming an entry level vehicle and was way ahead of every other offering in the class including Suzuki. They are very reliable and cheap to maintain as well as cheaper to buy than a Cherokee. In many parts of the country they are all that is needed in rough terrain off-road.
There’s something special about TJ’s
Gera GM, TJ’s are absolutely the last of the “real” jeeps! Too many bells and whistles on the new ones and they’re too over priced!
Yes there is. I bought my 99 Sahara 4.0L back in 2006 with 40K on it. Now has 175K on it and still runs like a beast!!!
danc2581 l bought mine new in 2005, still runs great, although the resale value is absolutely fantastic, I don’t think I’ll ever sell it. The ‘99 Sahara was a great and good looking model, glad to hear you’re still loving it!
@@cfvrq Definitely agree!
? The TJ 1st with coil spring, still small for wheeling and the basic creature comforts! I love my Sport 4.0 5 speed. It’s almost bullet proof.
$3k low side I've bought a few handfuls of XJ's for less then $500 my daily XJ was $4k but for off roading I'll stay with my $500 under jeeps
XJ FTW! I love my ‘89 XJ almost as much as my 4Runner, and pretty much for the same reasons: boxy design, reliable mechanics, old-school vibe
My 2006 TJ Rubicon is the sweet spot for me. 98k, Stone white, black hard top with matching black hard upper door's. Not to tall.. 2.5 inch lift sitting on BFG 31's. I Love my Rubicon!!
I own a WJ of 2004 vintage. When I bought it, it only had 97,000kms (just under 60,000 miles). I paid 3,500 Australian Dollars (about 2300 USD). I have travelled the length of Australia's Outback in it through some of the roughest terrain and harshest weather. It still runs as good as the day I bought it. For this reason, this WJ Grand Cherokee Laredo is my number 1. But your choices in the video were pretty good too. Thanks for this.
Yes!! good review and glad your back to your basics and old school of vlogging with straight up to point and facts. love it. if i could for my money i think i would buy Grand Wagoneer
I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo straight 6 has 275,000 never had an issue with the engine and it's still going strong.
I Have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 V8 and i love it. There's over 300,000km on it and might use a litre of oil between oil changes. we get a ton of snow where i am in Atlantic Canada and it we go through anything. I with I could afford a new one but mine is still drives nice and cheap to fix if needed. Great video guys. I love Jeep
XJ 4.0 + AW4 or AX15 + np231 + after market support + cargo space for beers and room for 5, because nobody off road alone
Wow! A lot of Jeep models that have been produced over the years. Among my favourites are the XJ Cherokee. I love the ZJ Grand Cherokee. I love the first generation (YJ) Wrangler. I love the CJ Jeeps. (I've heard about the scandal about Jeeps being too easy to flip over. While I'm sure it can happen if you're reckless in how you drive, I've never seen it happen, nor have I seen the result of a roll-over accident.) I also love the SJ Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Although I was way too young to drive at the time, I remember vehicles like the CJ-8 Scrambler. Although I never drove one, I have ridden in one as a passenger.
We have a 42 Willis MB, a 66 CJ5, a 72 J4000 pickup, a 2016 Willys Wrangler Unlimited and a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. We like jeeps. Our son has 46 pickup and 1980 Wagoneer!
Great video Guys! I really enjoy your stuff. Thanks for posting
Grew up in a ‘96 XJ Country. It caused me to fall in love with Jeeps all these years later. That thing ran until the alternator went out and we decided to not replace it. As an adult, it caused me to purchase a ‘13 Patriot Latitude as my first Jeep, and now a ‘17 Renegade TH that I’m in love with 🥰🥰🥰
I've had 2 YJ's (one rugged off-roader '95 Sahara in stick; one more civilized in stock form '93 Sahara in Auto) and Currently have a '98 ZJ; but the #1 is the '06 LJ that I just recently got. All of them with the 4.0L I-6
Love my XJ of 20 years, it’s literally a part of my family at this point. Great video! Wonderful comments.
I have an 88 YJ, an 06 LJ and a 2012 JK. Love the LJ the most. It is my favorite.
The TJ 4.0L I6 with apologies to the MB. 🇺🇸
the 2003 tj that i owe best jeep ever
Yep, my 2003 TJ Rubicon is awesome
The commanche!
I'd take 05-06 TJ Wrangler, 4.0 liter and 6-speed manual Sahara with hardtop
I gotta say! I love jeeps i had many of them in 21 year period! My favorite one of all of them you guy's nailed it! The Cherokee, i had a 1998 sport, and boy that baby with the 4liter engine fulltime select 4×4 was a gem! I wish i had it today! Also my dad had many jeeps after serving ww2, like many g.i's he beacame attached to those willys cj after the war. He used them on the farm just about anywhere! And to me! That's one of the reasons i got into jeep's, because of my father. Great selection!👋😎👍
I loved my 1977 wide body cherokee for exploring idaho so much, I bought another one after I sold it. I just love the tough look and jeep functionality.
The 1991 YJ Renegade was the Jeep to own. It had design and character that is timeless.
1980 CJ7 Laredo, have had mine since it was ordered in 1979, still in great shape. Never came close to flipping it. It has a 4” lift, 31” Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires, put a Chevy 350 in it in 1993. Great Vehicle!
I just bought a 2019 wrangler 2 door, manual. I love it.
Enjoy. Lucky you.
Nice! I bought a 2 door 2012 jk with a manual transmission about 6 months ago. I love it :)
Same! Most fun vehicle i've ever driven. Hope they never drop the two-door!
I have a 2dr manual JL, it also has a soft top.
I remember when the YJ came out they were selling kits to covert CJ's to have square headlights.
There are so many great Jeeps. Thanks for the great reviews.
No CJ7? Blasphemy!!!!!!
THANK YOU.
Or CJ5? They were in production for 29 years. Can't beat 304 V8 with a manual.
My '79 CJ-7 is truly hurt by this omission!
BINGO!! I've had a '78, '84 & now a '79 that is beautiful and awesome. It is so easy to work on compared to any other vehicle I've ever owned!!!
I agree... but then again, growing up in the 70s I'm biased towards the CJ-5 and CJ-7 models.
I have both a 1948 CJ-2A and 1997 Grand Cherokee. Love them both.
Number 1 important Jeep is the Bantam Reconnaissance Car (BRC). That was the prototype that started the entire history of Jeep. Without it, there wouldn't have been any Willys, CJ's, YJ's, TJ's, Any J's!!! Unfortunately, the Bantam car company and the BRC rarely gets the recognition that's deserved.
for me is the XJ my first one was an 87' Pioneer which was where I learn to drive, now I have a 99' Sport with 279k miles and a 00' Classic with 190k miles and they both start right up even during the winter season I had way more issues with my JK
I had a 75 Cherokee Chief, full size 2 door with the side sliding windows. Man I wish I still had that truck! A friend still has his 80 something J20 what a beast it is.
I bought a 1996er XJ with diesel engine (115 hp, version for export) in 1999. It is still my daily driver.
I have always wanted one of the 2 door Cherokee. The box style version. Actually test drove a newer wrangler and it didn't have the width for my shoulders width to fit in it. I actually like the look of the Gladiator but it is well outside of my price range.
Clyde, I have one for you....626 379-4185
A lot of people may or may not agree with the list, but we can all agree with this:
"I just wish I had one of each of all Jeep models!!!"
Jeep CJ... wow. My late uncle had the Willy CJ 2A version during the 60s and 70s. Always drove it on the third gear (even going up steeper hills on our farm). Great workhorse!
I would have picked one that wasn't listed under the grand Cherokee tab and that's the Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 limited it was one of the biggest send offs to the the jeep grand Cherokee , it marked a new era with an old car . In 1998 the jeep grand Cherokee chasey was coming to an end so what they did was make a limited run of jeep grand Cherokee called the 5.9 limited were they took the best of the best and put it in one car . Including sun roof , heated seats ,power seats and much more. But that wasn't its party piece . What was most iconic was the jeeps 5.9 liter v8. This massive motor took this car to the history books making it the Fastest SUV in 1998 in the world . I really hope you read this and can possibly make a video about it also sorry the comment is so long. Also was part of the zj class
We drive the military cousin of the M715, it's the KIA KM 450.
I think my 1961 Willys Jeep Sedan Delivery 4X4 with a 66 Ford 289 is a better off road vehicle than any of the newer Jeeps. Willys are real Jeeps
I owned a 04 WJ and now I've got a lifted 06 XK and its incredible! But if money wasn't an option id 100% have a Scrambler, they're just so cool and retro!
I just bought my own CJ3B. Has Dana 25 front axle, and Dana 44 rear axle along with a T90 transmission seemingly exceeding in every way The CJ2A with a look that's identical. Has an over drive installed so it can hit 55 mph with low rpms to get me to trails and back roads a few miles away. I looked into a Roxor but they wasn't road legal. A nice rare local find, I'm enjoying the Jeep thing.
Super proud the xj made #2
I love watching the old CJ2's just doing it simple, while recent models work at it. Yet I find the Jeepster interesting, but the FC-150 would be nice while I really like the Willy's Jeep Truck's. Yet I'd take a Comanche at the end of the day.
The most important Jeep to me is the CJ 6 I bought from an Army auction when I was 18!
Great video, keep up the good work;)
Don't hate on me but I'd say that the Grand Cherokee WK2 is the most important GC for many reasons:
1. Big Volume seller.
2. Introduced Jeep to the luxury market with the high end trims.
3. Performance jeep in the SRT and trackhawk trims.
4. Off road oriented packages that are super capable and it's own trail hawk trim.
5. Great towing capacities for its size.
6. 3 DIFFERENT V8 OPTIONS BABY.
7. As long as reliability, I owned a 2012 HEMI until 2018 and she only needed oil and new tires, I sold it because I moved from Venezuela to the States but I've been thinking about buying another one or getting a Wrangler
Get a Wrangler. It's a whole new different experience and Jeep way of life.
Really enjoyed this episode
As a truck guy. The classic gladiator is my #1. So much history utility and potential in one vehicle
I have had, starting with the earliest, a C-101 Jeepster Commando, CJ-5, Liberty (my wife’s vehicle), and a JL Wrangler. We currently a 2019 Cherokee and a 2020 Gladiator Sport S. You could say that we like Jeeps.
Idk about the most important but I REALLY want a Jeep Forward Control. If I had unlimited budget I’d take a forward control to Icon and have them build me a reformer with the modern HO 4.0
No CJ7!? How do you make a list of the top Jeeps of all time, list 10 different models and not have the CJ7 on the list???
TFL Jeep should definitely be a thing. I've had a ZJ, MJ, WJ, and now a JK. My favorite in order from most to least - JK, MJ, WJ, ZJ.
It’s impossible for the legendary Jeep TJ wrangler to not be on this list - top 3!! Absolutely disappointed and shocked
well just got to say I love my 1975 CJ5 with a 304 with a 3 speed. been off roading and cross rivers with it in Kentucky. I'll just stay with it, cause I can rebuild it and rebuild it while everyone else pays for another or pays to get it fix. Just Empty Every Pocket or Just Expect Ever Problem. LOL
I love my 88' Wagoneer Limited (XJ). I drive it daily with few issues. It was my Sunday driver, but I got tired of fixing my Ford constantly and I never looked back.
I love my 16 JKUR, but my dream Jeep would be the CJ2 with PTO. I love those.
My 01' XJ limited is still kickin' ass. 218k. I take great care of it. Still a beast on the street and the mountains.
Yeah baby!! XJ all the way...
Pretty good Jeep run down. The Cherokee from 1984 through 2001 is one of my favorites.
However, the XJ series is the 2nd (not the first) generation Cherokee. The first generation Cherokee was based on the Wagoneer from 1974 through 1983. First it was a 2-door then, in 1977, a 4-door was added to the line.
I have a 401 powered 74 CJ5 , a 86 CJ7 with EFI 4.0 H.O. swap and a 47 Willys Pickup with Detroit Lockered Dana 60's front & rear, Ford 428 FE, C6 auto and NP205 . Love me some Jeep
No TJ in this list?
I think the Wagoneer should be higher on that list. Not only did it usher in the luxury 4x4, it also introduced quadratrac awd/4wd systems, something AMC Eagle and would adopt and arguably who Subaru owes their success to. They also pioneered IFS 4wd in early wagoneers with the rhino grille
that jeep 4.0 and 5 speed was a great combo in XJ might have been a bit much for a LJ but that wousl be my pick for a driver
I own (2) 96 Jeep XJ Cherokees and (1) 1982 SJ Jeep J20 pick up. I like all Jeeps, but those are my favorite models.
Thanks for the great video but you guys “forgot” the Comanche.
Thanks guys, another great video.
I'd have to go with the XJ for the most important Jeep of (kinda) recent times.
I grew up (here in the UK) in the back of my Dad's XJ which became my first car. Still my daily driver nearly 8 years later.
Now it's accompanied by a ZJ Grand Cherokee and an SJ Grand Wagoneer though!
Jeep FC 150 must be the most unique truck line they came out with. Weird to drive and not very fast but man if love to have one!
My 1988 Cherokee XJ with 285k miles that I grew up with and ended up being mine when my brother was done abusing it and to our knowledge the engine had never been apart. I miss that thing. 😢
I did my own Sunrider soft top for Hardtops in about 1 1/2 hours, I bought it at Summit Racing in Georgia, I installed on my 2011 Wrangler Unlimited, it didn't Leak , I live in Northern Minnesota, I ran Summer and Winter, it was nice...
My 1st rig ever..was10 .by the time was12 rebuilt from ground up ..all stock but 65 Mustang buckets .cadilac power brake booster and roll up sides on the vinyl top..oh & extra foam on rear seat ..man I miss that rig ..flat 4 cyl.3spd.even had factor heater . nice ..still looking to buy it back ..thanks 4 the MEMORIES..and REGRETS
Tfl jeep is a good idea. I'd subscribe to that haha
Definitely the scrambler these old 2 door Jeep trucks may not have had the towing capacity but they’re just awesome.
I would love a clean rust free Jeep Honcho pickup! They were the ultimate pickup for me as a kid, but I never got one,,,,,,,,
My dad used to have a yj. I'd love to be able to pick one up someday (despite the square headlights), but the cost just doesn't seem to justify the original wranglers anymore and it seems there aren't a whole lot left in decent condition.
