I would so get those knights if I had the money. I've wanted a Cerastus Castigator for ages because I think it'd be really fun to run with a Sisters army as a sort of "Super Paragon Warsuit".
You _could_ probably use the tech-thralls as Skitarii, and the Castellax as Kastelans. I doubt opponents will care that you're using power claws as power fists.

So the big knight isn’t moving due to 40k overwatch rules, and thus they’ve decided to try to bundle him in. I’m not falling for it. Especially after what I saw with all the Horus heresy stuff go to legends for the marines and chaos elements
GW thinks that they sell more models if the models can’t be used in both games. So if you play both games, you will have to buy two complete armies. Seemingly they think this outperforms the selling these units to people that only play 40k.

Also why we see no attempt to even allow for options to be cross compatible, Solar Auxilia russ has no sponsons, their infantry all las guns unless you pay more for special weapons, etc. If the heresy team made the admech models, they aren't gonna give them to 40k as they lose profit.

I think the 30k Mechanicum box was designed to be bought by collectors MULTIPLE times. That's why there is no character in it. People who were already paying Forge World prices will have no problem with these new lower prices.
@Brickfrog427 well for HH is a little under 600 points, and it's missing a HQ so it's not really an army, although they are releasing a arch magos prime so that will get you to about a 725 points sans upgrades. But even two boxes only gets you about 1200 points again sans upgrades.
@dmeep yes and no, the unique thing about this box is everything in it is a troops choice or a dedicated transport. Now the force org chart has a maximum of six troops choices. Thallax can go to max of 9 models per unit, castallax to five per unit. You will want to keep the tech thralls in units of 20 because the triarios can only hold 22 models. So there already is an issue coming up, buying two boxes leaves you with an extra thallax if you are maxing squad sizes to save on troops slots. In theory it's not to big a problem, by a third box to have a seven man thallax squad, except then you have a five man castallax squad and one left over. So in this hypothetical army you will have three 20 man tech thralls, each with a triarios as a dedicated transport, one give man castallax, one nine man thallax and one seven man thallax. So with an archmagos prime added in and before upgrades you are at 1840 points, which will get up to 2k once upgrades are added but you are still way below 3k points. You could get three thanatars which will add another 705 points sans upgrades but you then would need some more stuff like myrmidons.
Knight box is very interesting, and worth it for those who don’t have an Acheron and/or Castigator; or looking to start a Knight Army with a couple cool looking knights

Speaking as an Aussie knight player who will be visiting the uk soon, the fact that I could get BOTH of the Cerastus knights I’m missing for less than the price of a single one of them is super tempting. Upsetting, but deeply tempting. For comparison, 190£ is $173AUD (not including any flgs discounts), whereas the Castigator and Acheron both cost $350AUD individually here.😂
curious as to how much 40k admech translate to 30k... I have a fair amount of admech and i love the robot designs, always been sad that only one we got in 40k is the brobots. If i didnt already have 3 dunecrawlers i'd probably just use the bigass robots as dunestriders lol.
There’s little translation between the two systems, sadly. Proxies and fan supplements will be the best way to bring your 40k stuff over. 30k admech are really cool though, and they’re worth checking out!

I can't help but think that both Necromunda and HH are being badly hurt by the unnecessary segregation of the hobby. If you could play a small Primaris kill-team or a squad of Guard in Necromunda scenarios it might well help get more 40k players into the game proper, and it's pretty obvious that HH stuff having proper 40k rules would boost their sales too, particularly those AdMech models. You'd think a huge multinational company would be more averse to leaving money on the table.

Most likely getting the Mechanicum box. At least one unit of Tech Thralls will probably be sold off seperately, but plastic Castellax have been my wish for years, the Triaros might make a fine Dunerider proxy, and the Thallax may be converted into Pteraxii.
I've been considering the Castigator. Guess now is the time. It definitely looks like they are trying to move the Acheron by attaching it to the Castigator. There has been a Acheron in my local store for months, but all the other Knights can't stay on the shelf.
If this combo box has the HH logo on it, I give it 1:10 odds they will be added to the codex, 2:10 odds they will not go to legends, and 7:10 odds they will go to legends. If it has a 40k logo, 9:10 odds all the Castigators will move into the codex, 1:10 that it will only be those two. But realistically, these releases are intended as two 30k mechanicum sets. My expectation is for the codex we are going to get a Armiger character, whose single model box will replace the current two model box at 80% of the current price.
I would get the knight box if I didn't already have the Castigator. If it was all 3 plastic Cerastus knights(or the option to change one out for the Lancer) it might be a different story. Before anyone says anything about them probably going to Legends "so theres no point in getting them", I just get them for painting projects. Also, they're still in GW's 40k section on their site as well as the HH section.

I just recently bought a used IK army right before the koolaid man update and just bought a Lancer. The two in the new box set is really just a waste of money imo. One of the two just straight up sucks and the other is too points expensive for what it brings to your list. Not to mention that the only big knight with a save/invuln worth the points is the lancer. Canis is nice but all big knights except the lancer either get no save in melee or get taken out by volume of small attacks that just cripple it because 3+ save on a 400+ point model is somehow justifiable even though they should have more and better armor than a terminator.
i would really LOVE to get the Knight Bundle box for my Birthday in august, on my retailer it would be 190€. A single Castigator knight is 130€, so i would get the second one for 60€. But all the comments about all HH Knights being pushed into legends with the next Knight codex makes me insecure about it.
I'd love to get some knights at a discount but if Chainbreak Lance and Deathwing Assault have taught me anything it's "don't even bother trying to get a box".
I am not buying any more knights until they make them playable. 5 up inv on ranged attacks is shocking! Any melee army can bring a knight down like scissors to paper

I'm really trying to avoid the Mechanicum box, but I fear that I will inevitably break. Not really interested in much beyond the Thallax, but it is a gorgeous kit. The knights are an odd one. Sub-optimal builds and not exactly great for how Knights currently play but they are still nice kits. Just not nice enough to warrant that price tag. I said time and again that the 30k Mechanicum release would have 40k AdMech players spitting feathers and they didn't disappoint. Still, it could be interesting to see a Thallax being blinged up to holy relic status.
I'm consistently surprised how many miniatures come out for 30k or Necromunda or Legion Imperialis, I would have thought they'd put way more effort comparatively into big 40k. That's a nice thing about Kill Team, most of those boxes are standard 40k infantry with an extra bits sprue. But it's weird to see a Mechanicus box that's not easily convertible, I didn't realize 30k was popular enough to justify it.
The Lancer is used in multiple game systems. Nobody in 40k wants these ones, and I don’t know how they do in 30k to weigh in more. I fully expect them all to be 40k legends by next edition though as GW wants to isolate HH from 40k for sales projections and stuff

The acheron basically doesn't have a niche. It can't overwatch, its melee is mediocre compared to both the castigator and the Lancer. Still costs a ton. It's basically a slightly faster valiant with no anti tank
@@kirbyball97 AND you're paying a premium for it, compared to the Questoris kit, AND unlike the Questoris you don't have the option of magnetizing loadouts. I have a soft spot for the Acheron, if for no other reason than it's an underdog. But it IS an underdog because it's the worst deal, for multiple reasons.

The Knoghts are Only on Discount because all knight players hate them^^ Only the Design is beloved. both of the knights are very bad in my opinion played archeron alot .The old ones (questoris) are just better in my opinion (better abilities,bondsman ability and a much better weapon list.

I really wanna dip my toes into Horus Heresy and the Mechanicum is everything I asked for. It's what 40k AdMech is supposed to be in my opinion.

Deathwing assault was a special edition box and the chainbreak lance was a Christmas box, these HH boxes almost never sell out

Castigator is $164 on Amazon. Cerastus is $155. So for $164, you don’t have to own a Cerastus.

I have a soft spot for the Acheron, if for no other reason than it's an underdog. But it IS an underdog because it's the worst deal, for multiple reasons.

I don't play them but I'm curious, how much value does the Mechanicum box offer for 40k players? do the units here have direct parallels to 40k like they do for Space Morons or is a lot of this literally useless for anything but HH?

both of the knights are very bad in my opinion played archeron alot .The old ones (questoris) are just better in my opinion (better abilities,bondsman ability and a much better weapon list.
Oh ye gods, I remember the times when knights were 120 € each... But these Bois have always been a bit pricyer. Still, 245 € being the discount priceeans that even fewer people can afford the hobby.
