    The two Ferrari Testarossa's supplied by Ferrari for Miami Vice weren't genuine white cars - They were originally black.
    The cars didn't show up very well on screen during the night time shooting, and so the production team asked for a pair of white cars from Ferrari.
    At the time, every Testarossa was already sold, and there were no spare cars available, so Ferrari had the two black Testarossa's completely repainted white, to factory standards (not just a quick for TV "blowover"), and the rest is history.

    Two neat things that Universal Studios (Hollywood) did during the 80s with two of the cars on this list: 1. Guests could visit, sit inside and have a brief conversation with a "K.I.T.T." replica that was on display. 2. During a full studio promotion of "The A-Team," one of the promotional features was a full-sized replica of the iconic B.A. Baracus van, however the van had been specially altered so that no more than one or two persons were needed to lift one side of the van off of the ground.

    I was 9 years old when Knight Rider first aired. I was instantly hooked on it. Of course it was all about the car. I remember walking to school about a week or two after seeing the pilot movie and walking past an actual 1982 Trans Am. My 9 year old mind was blown away when I realized that amazing car I had seen on TV actually existed. Since then, I've owned 2 firebirds. An 89 Formula, and an 87 Trans Am. Never did a KITT replica, but that's OK.

      I grew up in Chile in the 80's so I watched all these shows as a kid. When I moved to the US, my first car was an 87' Firebird (305 TBI AT T-tops) it wasn't quick so then i got a 91' Formula (305 TPI MT) and lastly a 92' Trans-Am GTA (350 TPI AT) my uncle a 89' turbo Trans-Am. That thing ran 12's stock!

    Fact check. The Testarossa's delivered to Miami Vice actually came red. Before they rolled off the trailer Michael Mann told the crew he wanted them painted white. thats why they have an odd colour combo of White on Tan. Tan was usually found in red cars. Black or white interiors were more common on white cars.

    this type of Testarossa is considered nowadays as a rarity because it was the all first testarossa of this generation with the "mono-specio" the unique miror which was due to the fact that a standard miror would have shown the car's rear fender. For the next generation the car had been geavily modified to include amiror and the second miror was easy to add. The Testarossa mono-specio was built because it was a V12...they didn't thought about regulations when Ferrari created the car, which make this car rare (and it was white)
    who never dreamed to be Magnum only to drive the Ferrari (and Daisy could have make a nice passenger but she was in another serie)
    i don't know why but i wasn't surprised to discover the #1

      Ahhhh nooo. You are right. I missed that. I usually would have deleted a video and re uploaded it had I caught it sooner. Though I did mention that the show began at the tail end of the 1970s, but because I kept saying "1969 Charger" I had that date on the brain when I read the lines and did not say 1979. The 6 seasons was a screw up as I should have said "Ran for six years." But yes, that was a goof I messed up on. Can't fix it now.

      Had to represent Australia. It seems in my quest for this list, Australia never had much of a car show in the 80s. Which is sad cause we were always big on our cars. Kingswood Country captured some of that obsession and it was even more interesting in that we never saw the actual car. It's almost poetic. A man obsessed with his car and the show named after it, yet it never appeared.

  • @Velal07
    @Velal07 Před 2 lety +2

    I enjoyed the video but there's an error. The 3 cars GM gave the studios to make the 30 short video for the series weren't car 1,2,3 off of the line. The 1982 Trans Am had been in production for a few months before even Glenn Larson came up with the series. The Knight Rider Historians channel has a ton of info on the show.
    There was a Coyote X that was Porsche powered and one DeLorean powered but the majority were VW powered. There are a few scenes were you can hear the VW engine.

    • @MFPMapFilmProductions
      @MFPMapFilmProductions  Před 2 lety

      When it is said Cars 1,2,3 it was not a direct reference of how they came off the line, but basically in reference to the cars as individual given to production. For the coyote, yes there were different engines, but without full confirmation of what engine was used when, it's usually the most commonly known.

    I guess it's just opinion but, as good a car-based show as Knight Rider was, and how well done K.I.T.T. was, it seems to me that The Dukes of Hazzard was THE car-centric show of the era. Just going by the number of replics that I've seen (probably 2 dozen General Lees as opposed to 3 K.I.T.T.s), the oublic seems to agree with me. I don't remember Automan at all, nor the Australian show, Kingswood. I would have remembered that if I had heard about it, since our family car for many years was a 1969 Chevy Kingswood Estate wagon. I'm surprised that The Rockford Files didn't make the list. Perpetually underfunded P.I. Jim Rockford was invoved in at least one chase somewhere in or around Los Angeles in his current year Firebird Esprit every week. I understand why Roptide didn't make the list (the main vehicle was their helicopter "Screamin' Mimi"), but there were plenty of memorable scenes involving their flame-painted red 1960 Corvette.
