2023 RECENT UPDATES FOR HIPPIE ISLAND OF HAMPI
- The ferry is again running regularly starting from 8 am to around 5:30 pm.
- The Goan Corner is running but they are now serving a different bouldering area (Hippie Island 2.0) farther away.
- There are still two places in Hampi that serve the boulders on what used to be Hippie Island. They actually work together, if one doesn’t have the time they will send you to the other person.
* Hampi Adventures: +91 82777 92588
* The Monkey Zone: +91 94833 80655
- The closest “chill” places in the spirit of Hippie Island are Wanderlust and Baba Cafe in Hanumanahalli. There are also some nice homestays in the village.
- You can directly walk there from Hampi by crossing the “mountains” on the former Hippie Island; it takes around 30min from the ferry. The path is not marked at all though.

This is a very informative video !! 👍Also do you know about any restrictions or precautions due to the pandemic. Pls do highlight them.
Hi Suptha, thanks so much for the kind appreciation!
We were last in Hampi just before the pandemic, but haven't got a chance to visit again, however the last call I had in January 2021 with one of the campsite owners and some interactions in FB groups about travellers who recently visited were as follows -
1) The tourism is operational and all the monuments were open for public.
2) Hotels, homestays and accommodations were taking temperature checks but no covid tests were required unless requested explicitly. However carrying one is always benefitital.
Do note, that these are updated before the 2nd wave of covid. I haven't got much updates after the 2nd wave!
If you get any updates, do share them with us, it should be helpful for others as well!
Nice. Going Hampi by car, tomorrow !!

Hey
Thank you so much for appreciating!
Means a lot to us! 💛
Thank you so much for all this information. I am planning to visit in next 2 weeks. How to know if there is lockdown.
Happy to help Aswini!
Last I checked, Hampi monuments were closed due to the lockdown during end of August. However I don't have any update post that if the lockdown has been lifted up or not!
If I find out something, or if any of the viewers have any info, please update this thread. I will pin this comment to the top for a hopeful reply!

@@XploreTheEarth One thing sucks about hampi. I don't seem to find any car rental self drive.
I also wanted to go to aihole pattadakal badami
Do you have any idea for car rental or any other mode of conveyance?
@@mukkumania that is true! You’ll not find any cars in Hampi! You may find taxis in Hosapet but I doubt any self drive options available.
Commuting to Badami from Hosapet might be possible by Ksrtc or private buses. However I don’t have any concrete info to help you more!
@@XploreTheEarth thanks for help😁
Is there car parking at the entrance of vijaya vitthala temple? Need to plan with minimum walking distance.
Is the hippie island sunset point in virupapurgaddi? And is anegundi the new hippie island?
Good Guide guys...for both Hampi & Gokarna.
Pls take it on a positive note - Its Matanga Hill not matunga hill.
Keep making such good guides...u will have my coffee contribution soon.
Thank you so much Akshay! Thanks for pointing it out as well! Stay connected and subscribed! 💛
There is a daily flight from Hyderabad to Vidyanagar. The Airport is maintained by Jindal Companies. There is Hyatt Hotel in Vidyanagar. It is 45 minutes journey to reach Hampi by road
Thanks for adding to the info!
I am sure it will come handy to a lot of other travellers looking for updates! 💛
Also talking about taking a guide, how much does they take for a tour?
They will charge about Rs. 500 mostly if alone.
In a group, they may ask 200 per person or sometimes they quote whatever they want to.
Do negotiate, there is no standardised union to keep it in check

Two queries...
1. Sunset point towards Hippie Island side - where is it located exactly? Is it not a part of Anjanadri Hills?
2. Can Tungabhadra dam and night show be clubbed in 2 days Hampi itinerary?
Hey
1. You can find the Sunset point of Hippie Island on Google Map. You will spot a lot of people walking towards it mostly.
You can ask a local as well.
It’s a 5 minute walk from the ferry point of Hippie Island.
2. I personally have not been to Tungabhadra dam but you need atleast 2 days to explore all of Hampi itself with Hippie Island.
Fitting something more seems very difficult I think. Also the light show of Hampi festival happens on certain dates only so make sure it’s happening before you plan to visit.
Hope you have a good trip, let us know how it went and share some updates so we can update more info for other travellers 😄
Is it a dry land?? Which is the best restaurant to booze with friends and have a chill time(like hippie island) ?
Hi Pramodh, yes Hampi is a dry land as it is a holy site for pilgrimage with a very rich history. Serving liquor is banned in the vicinity of Hampi. There are chances that you may find some beer cans at some of the cafes near Sanapur as it is a different village and out of Hampi. Check out Baba Cafe, Rock n Chill and a few other stays that may be able to help you out.
However, don't expect a big choice or any assurances. It greatly depends on the situations ongoing.
Hippie Island, Sanapur, Anegundi sides will be really with low crowds so good places to chill at and avoid the tourists of Hampi.
@@XploreTheEarth Thanks for the info and taking out your time to reply.. 👍

Actually my college made a plan to explore hampi, is it nice place? Should I go there?
Definitely go there!
It’ll be great experience!
You’ll leave the city life behind and feel like you’ve been transported a few hundred years back!
The landscape is amazing and the entire vibe of the place is perfect for a group of friends to go and explore!
Don’t miss the chance 💯😄
how to reach from dandeli to gokarna
Don’t have this info. Best to reach a nearby major town and find a transfer from there
Loved the video, but I wanted to know How much does a ferry take, both, back and forth? (in general)
Usually Rs.50 1 way per person.
can we visit there in May june
Hi Pavan, places would be open in May, June but it will be extremely hot in those months. If you are visiting different monuments, even if by a two-wheeler or an auto/car, the sun would be shining too brightly in summers. So it is recommended to visit Hampi after monsoons are over or in winter months.
Hope this helps!

Can you please tell can we get trippy in Hampi and Gokarna I heard both are hippie places of India
Hahaha better to go there and explore. Yes, you will find a lot of spots to Chill in Hippie Island. Not on the Hampi side though.
Gokarna has become a lot more commercial these days with frequent police checks on popular beaches.
Do make sure you are not bothering the locals or harming the local ecosystem in any ways though!
@@XploreTheEarth Well Thanks for Hampi but Gokarna I know this can happen so will definitely enjoy in offbeat beaches 😀

Thanks for the help.
How can i get a scooty on rent ?
Very few rental options in Hampi side.
you can call and reach out to this person maps.app.goo.gl/bCWGvdi8vthDeWC59
On the Hippie island/Anegundi side you get a lot of bike rentals. You can contact your property, they will only arrange for it.
What are the places I can cover in Hampi if I reach there after 3pm this Sunday ( 12th Feb)? I know a lot of places close by 6pm out there. We will try to cover whatever possible on that day.
We have full day to explore Hampi on Monday and will look to cover all important places. Please suggest an itenerary for 1½ days.
Looking forward to suggestions. Thanks in advance 🙏
Or taking two wheeler on rent is mandatory?
Not mandatory to take 2 wheeler. You can use your own vehicles or take an auto or walk or take a cycle! Whatever is your choice! 😊
Can we use a car for travelling there
4 wheelers are allowed inside humpi
Yes, they are allowed but not at all the places. You can visit most of the monuments by 4 wheeler, park them in designated areas and then walk inside to the monuments. But you can travel via a 4 wheeler across Hampi!
Can you please tell me what is the auto rickshaw cost per day for two people from hampi bazar
It will vary depending upon the season that you are travelling and how many tourists are there, but you can manage a complete monument tour for about Rs.600 to 800 on any weekend.
This is just a rough estimate based on the trips that we had taken two years back so it may vary a little and this is the cost of an entire auto, that can fit about 3-4 people
@@XploreTheEarth I am planning to go there from 3rd to 5th August we are 2friends so we want reserved
@@saikatkole1314 we don’t think that is possible. You’ll have to get down at the bazar and get the auto on your trip. August is usually off season in Hampi. So you’ll not see a lot of tourists
@@XploreTheEarth So is it a good time to visit hampi?
@@saikatkole1314 yep it is. The weather is pleasant and it will be much more green. The river floods sometimes so avoid if heavy rain warnings are given.
is it mandatory to submit driving license to hire a bike ???
Yes, the owners will ask for your government ids. Keep 2 and a copy of license with you. They take the original and keep it as a failsafe and return when you return the bikes. Keep 2 ids with you at all times.
@@XploreTheEarth okk.. thanks for the info
hey do they have any rental bikes in hampi ,not hippie island
Yes they do. In the main Bazar itself where the buses will drop you. You can find bikes and cycles for rent. However they only had a few bikes 2 years back when I was there.
So go early in the morning and get one to not miss out on them.
@@XploreTheEarth thank you very much
Can entire hampi be explored by our own car?
Hi,
Almost all places in Hampi can be covered by car yes.
Some places you might have to park your car and walk the last mile.
But overall you can cover Hampi by car yea!
Best time to visit hampi?
Starting now until February should be a really nice time to visit Hampi. The weather will be quite pleasant!

Lot of wrong information unfortunately, Hampi is demolished by Deccan Sultanate not Delhi Sultanate. Nearest airport is Vijayanagar which is 25kms from Hampi.
I apologize for the misinformation quoted, my intention was to only provide an overview of the place for the travellers looking to plan a trip to Hampi. In my attempt I made a few errors as you pointed out. I will make a note with the corrections in the description of this video so it comes in handy for other watching this video.
Thanks for pointing it out again, I'll try and and be more thorough in the research for the next video! 💛
it's true! bahumani sultans or deccan sultans namely bijapur, bidar, ahmednagar and golkonda sultans participate in "battle of Talikote"against vijayanagar emperor in 1565
